it was mostly very laid back, completely different from the mainland. Touristy sometimes and in only a few spots but that also is kind of attractive and reassuring. You'll find real coffee for example and more people that speak English. There were not many things to visit but every site was very interesting and informative. A ride with the ferry to the mainland was fun. By accident we found a huge supermarket with interesting food items on the other (mainland) side Getting aroud was very easy, tuk tuks everywhere. But 9 out of 10 drivers try to let you pay 5-10 times the usual price for a ride. We usually agreed upon 3-4 times. We could not visit the small Fort Kochi beach, it was already 31 degrees Celcius at 10.00 am and at noon it was around 36°CGuest review byMaryNetherlands - 6.0

I love the heritage structures around this area. Each lane I went was so unique and beautiful with it's own story . I could just walk all day long and yet I wouldn't get tired. One can walk around without much difficulty. People are extremely friendly and polite. I liked the cute little streets, the many restaurants and cafes. I liked the fishing that was being done. I liked the ferries that were fun to go on and amazingly cheap. I liked that we could so easily rent bicycles to ride around on. I like the Art show that was on. We went on a couple of bicycle rides, down the coast and up the middle of the island - the main roads were busy but the small narrow roads were lovely to go on.
