Year-round Sun & Fun

Set against the backdrop of desert and mountains, Sharm el Sheikh is a year-round Red Sea diving and beach resort. Although based on an existing village, it is very much a purpose-built holiday town, with lots of international brands of hotel, restaurant and bar lining its sandy shores.

The oldest part surrounds the Old Market, a heady mix of shisha and spices, roughly in the middle of the Naama Bay and Um el Sid suburbs. The other Sharm districts of Shark’s Bay and Nabq Bay are along the coast by Sharm el Sheikh Airport.

The Red Sea offers some of the world’s best dive spots with rich underwater life on the deep reefs of the amazing Ras Mohammed National Park. Other watersports include windsurfing, kayaking or banana boating, and the Cleopark waterpark has flumes, pools and rapids.

Other things to do include shopping at Il Mercato mall and the many souvenir stalls, karting at Ghibli Raceway, or watching a show at the Arabian-styled Alf Leila Wa Leila. Outside town you can go horse or camel riding in the desert, and visit a Bedouin village or St Catherine’s Monastery in the Sinai peninsula hills.

Nestled between the majestic Sinai mountains and the shimmering Red Sea, the city offers breathtaking views at every turn – whether you’re watching the sunrise paint the mountain peaks gold or gazing at the coral reefs dancing beneath the waves. Some of my favourite spots include Sharks Bay for its vibrant marine life, the Old Market for its charming local atmosphere, and Naama Bay for its bustling nightlife and seaside promenade. For dining, Sharm offers a rich mix – from resort fine dining to delightful seafood restaurants by the water. I particularly enjoyed the variety of international and local cuisines available in the SUNRISE Resorts, where quality and presentation are always impeccable. Getting around Sharm is easy and convenient, with taxis, ride-hailing apps, and resort shuttles readily available. Distances between key areas are short, making it simple to explore multiple spots in a single day. For families with young children, Sharm is a paradise of activities. My daughter loved the calm, shallow beaches perfect for safe swimming, as well as the colorful fish visible even from the shore. Many resorts offer dedicated kids’ clubs, water slides, and evening entertainment. We also enjoyed glass-bottom boat rides, desert excursions, and visiting Soho Square, which offers ice skating, musical fountains, and fun attractions for all ages. Sharm El Sheikh is not just a destination – it’s a magical blend of nature, adventure, relaxation, and warm Egyptian hospitality that keeps us coming back year after year.

    A 4–5 day holiday in Sharm El-Sheikh is ideal—just the right amount of time to explore the area without rushing. I highly recommend doing an ATV desert tour for one day. On the other days, you can join a Seascope tour, go diving, explore the city center, and visit Farsha Cafe. If you're interested, you can also plan a day trip to Cairo and the pyramids. When using taxis, make sure to use the inDrive app. Otherwise, local taxi drivers may ask for very high fares. Also, always bargain when shopping—initial prices are often very high, but with a bit of negotiation, you can get great deals. For example, we often bought items originally priced at $15 for just $5. The weather and the sea are both amazing. I definitely recommend visiting!

    A nice and chill place.

    A nice and chill place. You have to appreciate great heat during the day, which is all about beach/pool. At night after sunset there is a grand and welcoming party kind of vibe, with a lot of friendly restaurants, both international and local.

    Great place for relaxation and to completely switch off from work. Stunning coral reefs and the White Island is not to be missed. The local mosque had a beautiful architecture as well, definitely worth visiting.

    The hotel was clean, modern, had lovely staff and amazing facilities. There were 7 restaurants to choose from and lots of bars for all inclusive drinks. There were also ice cream, crepe, pastry and cake stands which were incredible. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The hotel also has its own taxi service which is reliable and reasonably priced.

    This hotel is underrated. It's not a 5 star. It is difficult a 10 star. I honestly cannot complain about a single thing. The staff were amazing and so friendly. all spoke English.
