We arrived earlier than expected and they were nice enough to let us check in 30 min before! There's a cute coffee place next door with outdoor seating, a small park to temporarily park you car (in case street parking is full) and there's a bridge that connects to a park on the other side of the river. The bridge offers gorgeous views of the water and you can see the people in the lazy river. The cottage itself was very cozy and clean - exactly like the pictures! We were a party of 4 and enjoyed our stay in Cottage # 7. It had a double bed plus a bunk bed that fit all 4 of us. I believe the couch was also a pullout but we did not use it for sleeping - I appreciate the electric fan in the bedroom and the AC. I also like how the bathroom already had big bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash available. We also cooked all our meals and the kitchenette was very nice! We used their Ninja airfryer toaster oven and they had a double burner induction cook top that you can put away in the bottom drawers. Now on the best part - the view and access to the river. The cottage has a large backyard that overlooks the water. Plenty of seating in the backyard and there's a BBQ grill (did not use). Our unit had seating on the patio and a table. My mom loves to crochet so she spent most of the afternoon outside on deck. We brought our paddle board so we enjoyed the convenience of being able to launch it right along the river. The area before the bridge was great for paddling as the water is deeper. Once you paddle past the bridge, its harder to paddle upstream as you are opposite of the current so it may take longer to get back. We absolutely loved our stay that we didn't even bother to drive anywhere else the next 4 days and enjoyed exploring the area. We will definitely be back!

This wasn't our first trip to Nanaimo so we did know our way around most of the city and beyond, but it is always a great place to be. We love the well planned Harbour walkways, many events in the parks, the beach trails. Our favourite beach walks are Piper's Lagoon and Neck Point. There are many good music venues, restaurants, scenic drives and walks. We easily found side roads that were basically parallel to the highway to get to and from downtown. Nanaimo has has a LOT to offer any visitor of any age! Can't wait to return!

I first visited Tofino twenty years ago.

I first visited Tofino twenty years ago. It was a quaint, small town that had incredible views, top rated restaurants and excellent ways to experience the area. We couldn’t wait to revisit the area. It has grown considerably and it has become a real tourist trap. It’s now overrun with tourists, the top rated restaurants no longer exist, and it now attracts a younger population. As a senior, I was deeply disappointed that my recollection of Tofino no longer exists. Like many Canadian destinations, it caters to attracting tourists, not maintaining the main reasons why the destinations were popular in the first place. I have loved Canada most of my life, but this was my very last visit.

Ucluelet is a beautiful town on the Pacific Ocean on Vancouver Island. There are beaches close by (the water is pretty cold, though) and many places to hike. We found that Ucluelet is much less touristy than Tofino. So if you like the touristy stuff, Tofino may be a better place for you. The whole area is surrounded by natural beauty.

We were there for the last 3 days of the beach festival. The sand sculptures, illuminated at night, were amazing (in the true meaning of the word) in their artistry and creativity. The beaches, parks and old growth trees were a delight to see. There are several excellent and unique restaurants. This town is perfect for a romantic couple's break or for a family with children. A suggestion for the City Council: Provide a small, free, illustrated map of the city with various attractions and the unique places to eat, visit and play.0 Tony Keble.

Port Hardy is central to many hiking trails and booking boat trips. Lots of good restaurants. I just wish that it would be possible to book half days fishing trips (only full days were available which is not ideal if you are afraid of the sea or this is your first boat trip).

Very nice, even during the winter months if you are okay with cooler temperatures, grey skies and rainy weather. The beach and town areas are clean. Various wildlife and sea life can be viewed with binoculars with lots of trails and points of interest being nearby or a short drive away. Qualicum area is nice to visit during the winter as the shoulder season is not busy with tourists.
