Easy to walk from Old Town to New Town (30 min) There are city buses but I have no experience
Many lakes to walk on, Ice cave to visit.
Prince of Wales Regional Museum worth a trip - much to see
Plan for Snowking Festival in March
Avoid Northern Light Tour company
Surprisingly, the grocery stores offered the same prices as Vancouver, and the restaurants weren't much more expensive than home.

Yellowknife is a remote location.
Yellowknife is a remote location. So you expect expensive food and accommodation, but we were disappointed to find lack-luster service. If you are looking for reasonably nice accommodations, expect to pay north of $300per night. Booking anything cheaper will disappoint.
The scenery, of course is one of a kind amazing! Just don't get your expectations too high when it comes to service.

We stayed at Yellowknife B&B and used Aurora Village for our tours. We highly recommend both of these to anyone traveling here!!
We cooked our meals (saved a ton of time and money) and had 1 stop shopping with our tours. This was a trip of a lifetime and we enjoyed every minute!

It’s so beautiful. Everyone is nice and friendly.
It’s so beautiful. Everyone is nice and friendly. We highly recommend the Bullock bistro. Food is so yummy. We also join the Artic Tour Canada for aurora hunting. The tour guid is professional and we really saw the aurora.
Rosa, our host, was a true delight. She looked after our needs beautifully. The kitchen was full of goodies, the home toasty warm, the lounge was perfect for relaxing, the location easy to walk to places or catch one of the reliable taxis. We throughly enjoyed hearing her stories of the past and the present Yellowknife, to sharing her own life journey. There was no request too big, she offered much help when hubby was sick. A very peaceful and relaxing stay.
The front desk was very accommodating. We were a party of 10 people and came early, they gave us plenty of space to leave our luggage while our rooms were ready. The room was big with plenty space to put all the clothing we rented for our stay, The bed was comfortable, the restaurant breakfast buffet was convenient and not that expensive. The hotel is walking distance to a supermarket, Aurora Village Offices and a pub with really good food.
A better than adequate place to stay in a town without many other choices. Comfortable, decent bar and restaurant and helpful staff. Let's be honest, you don't come to Yellowknife to stay in your hotel room. It was a welcome bonus to have a nice one when we needed it.
Wonderful views out to the lake. Cozy room. A back garden and floating dock are steps outside. There's a highly-rated fish restaurant attached but unfortunately I didn't get to try it. Old city is the best location in Yellowknife for tourists to stay in.
It was the best place I have ever stayed during traveling. Near the lake. Hiking trail. Nice dog and cats. Beautiful breakfast. The most impressive thing is the living room. I very enjoyed here and the most beautiful memory is in Yellowknife.
it's an older house, but Jenny puts a lot of effort into making sure the place is clean and well maintained. The location is good, very short walk to main shops etc. It's not a high end hotel, but it's clean and and the owner is helpful.
Nothing, I lived in Yellowknife, NT for seven years and always felt this was a good location to stay at. I was completely wrong & surprised as the building's exterior/interior's condition was filthy.
Breakfast was simple but varied, so I ate it every day.
And the hotel was located in the best location downtown, making it convenient to use and move around nearby amenities.
Amazing amenities, the hostess was super kind and accommodating. We really appreciated our stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in Yellowknife!
Fantastic host -- friendly, attentive, and informative. Knowledgeable about tourism. The house had everything needed and was a wonderful home for 4 nights. Flexible host!
Staff was nice! I asked him some question but he dealt with it properly !
And the location was good! Near the hotel, there were Tim Hortons, A&W and so on.
