Lovely town, the people are friendly and helpful.
Lovely town, the people are friendly and helpful. We eat at the Service club, the meals there vary in quality. The Australia pub food was superb and huge! The little fish and chip shop near the Council Office is well worth the visit, the hamburgers we had were really good! Young is an excellent regional town. Great restaurants, cafes, shopping, wineries, scenery. Very friendly. Hussey's for breakfast was unrivalled. Elliotz for dinner was fantastic. The Salami Bros thin crust vegetarian pizza was the best I've ever had. The Grove Estate Winery was well worth the visit. Great service and terrific wines. Great winery area, the Hilltops region, with a great selection of wines, predominately Italian varieties. Recommend Freeman Wines, Ballinaclash and Grove Estate. Also if you love cherries, then visit Ballinaclash Winery around mid November and December and pick your own cherries. Great local pubs and club. young is a very tidy friendly town and comes to life with the cherry festival and fruit sales, has active horse activities and other sports regularly. A visit to Wilders Bakery is a big tick on our list, sit on the verandah and enjoy the view, take a drive to wombat and the Pub do a loop drive around to Harden an see the Silo Art. At this time of the year the Canola crops are a sight to see Dinner at the Australian Hotel is good huge meals served quickly cherry pie and ice cream yum. My husband rang the hotel the day before we arrived and asked if we could have safe parking for our trike. Without hesitation, the young man he was chatting to said yes, you can park it in our shed. On arrival, the young lady who greeted us directed my husband around the back to the shed and made sure the shed was locked up for the night. Managed to call just minutes before 5pm and book a cabin letting them know we were still at least 2 hrs away. The staff were amazing, had everything ready for us to drive straight to the cabin for an easy check in after hours. Made our lives so much easier when the unexpected happened.
