The garden feels like a little oasis, and spending time by the pool is truly enjoyable. The rooms are designed with a unique cultural touch — the one we stayed in even had a private little pool and our own veranda to relax on. Breakfast is amazing; they really listen to your preferences and try to accommodate everything you ask for. And of course, the location is perfect — everything is within easy reach. As a bonus, Spring Spa is right next door, and since we stayed at Ikigai, we even got a discount! (:

Terra Cottages surpassed our expectations in so many ways. The location is great - quiet, with Bingin beach walking distance, and a short scooter or car ride to the main shopping road. The place itself is picturesque, providing as much privacy as possible given the size of the place, and feels more private thanks to the landscaping. The room was dreamy, and had everything we needed: water, a mosquito net around the bed, a steaming hot shower, and hair dryer. The place has a restaurant, with a number of options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Mediterranean sandwich was so good! Perhaps the best meal I had in Uluwatu. When checking out, the staff helped us book a Grab to Ubud, making sure the driver would show up since it was a long drive.

    The weather is excellent.

The weather is excellent. It is also close to many attractions. There are some wonderful cafes and restaurants. However, the city is overcrowded which causes some frustration. The roads are narrow and walking on the streets is a bit risky. I personally believe that there is nothing to see in the city.

For those reading this, your research should make you aware of the following. Bali is small and cramped with narrow roads and heavy traffic which moves at a snail's pace. If you are comfortable on a scooter, you can rent one. We opted to sit the traffic out by hiring a car and driver. You can negotiate a little with the drivers and everyone (ie. hotel staff) knows someone with an airconditioned vehicle who you can hire directly. In my humble opinion, Kuta is the better bet. Seminyak and Nusa Dua are too pricey for what is still Bali. Ubud is much too far from the ocean so ensure you are ready for a 30-45 min drive to get to the beach. If you are willing to walk a little, you can find everything you need in Kuta. Decent food and other shopping. Currency exchange places. An upmarket mall (with globally recognised brands) and a local mall with local brands. Kuta also has most of the fast-food franchises we would recognise (all the burger, chicken, pizza, and coffee places).

    Canggu, is very overrated.

Canggu, is very overrated. It is chaotic, so much congestion, & not really set up for pedestrians. You can’t swim in the beaches. The layout of the area is everywhere making it too hard to just walk around & find anything, you need to get a car or scooter to get to things & then you are stuck in traffic. We stayed for 9 nights (had paid a lot for the accommodation & we were with other people) but if you wanted to check it out, 2 or 3 nights would be the max. It’s very expensive & it’s just hard to see why this place is getting so popular, places like Nusa Lembongan, Sanur, Uluwatu & Seminyak are way better. There are lots of nice little places to eat though, but there are nice places all through Bali.

I loved the shopping, lots of fun bartering, friendly vibe, great cafe's restaurants and bars. Beautiful beach....day beds and umbrellas to lounge under. Close to other places like Legien and Kuta. Lots of taxies and gojek bikes to take you where ever you wanted to go at a very affordable price. The weather and accommodation is marvellous. I would recommend Seminyak as a perfect place to stay.

Uluwatu is awesome but very busy now compared to other years. We loved the location of our villa, very central yet so quiet for how busy it is in Padang Padang. Easy to get around. Villa was beautiful we didn't want to leave! Could have done with a tv for quiet night in that's about it. The ladies at the office are lovely but quite pushy with payments when you book things and communication sometimes a bit mixed up. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay :)

Sanur is a lovely area for families, singles and retirees alike. There are some great cafes, restaurants and bars along Jalan Danau Tamblingan (the main road through Sanur). The road is long so if walking is not your thing you can always pick up a Bluebird taxi (on meter). It's also easy walking distance to Karang Beach from the main road, where you'll find more bars and eating places along the beach. You can also hire bicycles at Karang Beach to ride along the footpath. There's the new ICON Shopping Mall (a must visit if you've never been there). For eating, I recommend Mona Lisa, Ribs, Wicked Parrot, Republique, The Pantry, Akaya Cafe, The Village, Smorgas.

My first time in travelling to Bali and I was nervous.

My first time in travelling to Bali and I was nervous. I couldn't have been more surprised. Legian is a terrific spot. I felt safe and had fun the whole 10 days that I was there. Our hotel arranged transport when I asked and we also used the Bluebird Taxi App, which is terrrific. I didn't find the beach swimmable but there were many surfers. Restaurants and bars lined the streets, as did shops of all descriptions. So much fun shopping. Taxi rides to visit interesting sites are cheap, as are full day private tours. Our rooftop pool was awesome and we loved spending lots of time there. I can't wait to return.

Basically just a resort neighborhood for people to spend their miles and points at all the usual hotel chains. The neighborhood is almost all resort pricing unless you go and mingle in the slum-like conditions that the local construction workers are living in. Almost all of the activities and attractions outside of the resorts are very suspicious, often feeling like tourist trap scams. I would only stay here again if someone were inviting me to some convention hosted here and they were putting me up in the resort hotel.
