If you can avoid Kuta and Ubud, do it. High season Ubud is hectic and chaotic. Way too much cars and scooters. It is one traffic jam. Driving from International airport to Ubud,approx. 38 km, takes approx. 2hrs. I would walk in Ubud, scooters and taxi are barely moving due to traffic jams. Ubud is a great spot for a short 2-day stay, offering plenty to experience in a limited time. Visiting the rice fields and enjoying a relaxing spa already make for a fulfilling trip, while the town itself has countless restaurants to try. I love the diversity in the activities that you can do in this town. There are a lot of artsy activities, cultural experiences, sporty and outdoor activities to do.
