Nigatta was a much slower pace. Feels like Sunday everyday.
Nigatta was a much slower pace. Feels like Sunday everyday. Chilled. It has fabulous restaurants and little local bars, great scenery. Definitely worth a visit for a few days. The bullet train ride from Tokyo to Niigata had lots of beautiful scenery along the way. So glad we decided to visit here on our third trip to Japan. Incredibly easy to get around with such an efficient bus service.

I spent 2 nights in Niigata because the hotel I wanted was booked out. I recommend spending there at least three nights. I visited Yahiko, a city nearby, which has a gorgeous park with Momiji trees, it was beautiful at the end of October. However, I had only a small amount of time for Niigata itself.

The only thing going for Niigata is the Alchemist Bar & Dining restaurant (Australian chef/owner). We were really disappointed and had been to 5 other cities in Japan which were fantastic. We would not visit Niigata again. A lot of litter and surprisingly, graffiti which is rare for Japan.

Days before checking in at Country Hotel Niigata, I was in Tokyo and Nagano and my schedule was crazy, I hardly got quality sleep. But when I was in that hotel, I got all the sleep I needed because it was so quiet, the room facilities were just right, and the hotel staff were nice and friendly.

I stay at downtown, near the train station. So it is pretty much a lot of things to do. Excellent restaurants all around the area.
The rest of the trip was taking trains to see different districts of Niigata. Lots of them has country side feels but it was good. Cute, well managed cities.

Niigata city itself is a little lackluster; there’s some interesting things to do (Pier Bandai and the nearby Toki Messe observation deck, the ponshukan at the station), though the real gems lay outside the city like Yahiko mountain and shrine
We stayed here two nights before our trip to Sado Island. We had a double room with in-room bathroom and it was small but not tiny. There is a free onsen and free noodles at night. Tattoos are not allowed in the onsen but if you have a small one it might be ok. You can also add breakfast if you’d like. Dormy Inn is a chain in Japan and this was just like other Dormy Inns we’ve stayed. Clean, basic rooms good for a couple but best for a quick stay when you just need a place to sleep while traveling.
Small but Clean and comfort room, comfortable bed, many amenities and big TV with free VOD ,the wifi was pretty good. The hotel is located closer to the station, restaurants and also with a convenient store right around the corner it is very accessible.
Pretty good deal for the price we paid.
There are many parking lots around but The hotel also provides parking at a location 4-5 min away for 1050/¥ for the day.
Nice location - within a 7 min walk from Niigata station.
Nice amenities and little extras in the room and the hotel itself - for instance, toiletries in the lobby and the onsen area, mini icecream after onsen, nice ramen in the evening, etc. - lovely surprises.
The breakfast is great - with local dishes, such as noppei, included. That's a cool touch.
Typical APA Business Hotel:
- Functional clean rooms and bathrooms with full amenities
- Nearby Niigata Train Station (5mins walk)
- Many eateries and 24/7 convenience stores nearby (there’s a Sukiya downstairs).
- Professional and efficient staff and fast check-in
- Typical excellent value for money
The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the station. The room was adequate.
There is a public bicycle rental scheme set up in Niigata, and bicycles can be rented for 500 yen per day, picked up and dropped off at various locations. It's worth looking into if you are interested in seeing local sites.
We were surprised to find that they had an onsen there at the hotel as well as a pool. The tv showed all the information you might want and more, such as how busy the onsen was at any given time, wifi/password, and you could even use it to order pizza or other services if you wanted.
The staff in this hotel provide wonderful gracious Japanese hospitality and extend themselves to help beyond expectations. The hotel public areas and rooms are spotlessly clean. The rooms are a very generous size. The variety of options for breakfast is outstanding. Excellent value.
Room was tight but otherwise, was a very comfortable stay. The public baths were relaxing and surprisingly quite big. The bed was comfortable. The hotel was about 10 mins walk from the station and located near a lot of restaurants. For the price point, this is good value for money.
Within walking distance from the station. plenty of restaurants nearby. The room is large enough to open two large suitcases. Room is very clean. Breakfast is excellent. Large variety to choose from. One of the best breakfast in a hotel I have had.
The staff were all very nice and friendly. Location is fantastic due to close proximity to train station, eating establishments and shopping. Rooms is compact but well designed. The hotel is also pretty nice looking too.
