This is a gem in the heart of beautiful, historic Fougères! Everything was lovely and the host super responsive. Kitchen was well-equipped and coffee/tea a nice touch. Toilet and shower/sinks are in separate rooms on the middle floor. Parking was free and right outside the front door. It was super quiet at night.

The city center is very nice. I's organized with care and love.
We didn't have time to visit the fortress but it looked very impressive from outside.
The city park is very beautiful, nice and calm. A nice place for a walk.

Beautiful historic city.
Beautiful historic city. We were just passing through, but discovered a really picturesque town to which we would gladly return.
Off season for us, so the castle only had restricted opening hours, but the walk around the outside was more than adequate. Plenty of free parking around town.

Lots of fantastic views and old stone buildings.
Lots of fantastic views and old stone buildings. A well signed posted walking route covers all the places of interest in an easy way. Still worth visiting in depths of winter. There are also usual shops and lots of creperies - maybe not a huge choice in winter, but even on a late Sunday evening we got a meal.

The town isn't big so a couple of nights would be enough. We went to a wonderful restaurant. Walked the town walk. Enjoyed the gardens. The castle is a must see and very informative. We wish the theatre has been showing something as it's such a grand building.

Fougeres is a medium sized historic town with an incredible medaeval castle, lovely architecture and good restaurants and shops. The location is also accessible to interesting towns and villages that are well worth exploring. My husband and myself stayed for three nights to break our onward journey and thought this was about the right length of time to spend there. We would definitely recommend it.
The house itself is beautiful, lighting, tv , shutters on windows, really loved it , shame our last night was spoiled by partying teenagers. Lovely local bar near by , The cave , really nice. Few nice bars and restaurants on the sqaure outside the castle , very pleasant in the Autumn sunshine. Fougares overall wasn't what I expected, too big and not quaint enough. Not the fault of the property, which really is in a lovely area.
For Americans, don't let the Best Western name influence you. The chain is far superior in Europe. This hotel was extremely clean with a large superior bathroom. Bed was super comfortable. Excellent breakfast with a full array of options. No specific parking, but close street parking with a short walk. Luggage can be dropped off in front of hotel. The Fortress, gardens and restaurant area are a very short walk across the street.
This property is centrally located in the winding old streets of Fougères with beautiful views of the château from the bedroom. The proprietor is very welcoming and speaks English, and she made us a very delicious breakfast spread in the beautiful dining room. The shower has hot water with great pressure (perfect!) and the bed was very comfortable and we slept quite well - perfect after a long day of driving and sightseeing.
the room was large and nicely furnished. the view was more than excellent! the proprietor was most welcoming and she served us a wonderful breakfast, all from her mothers farm or local produce. i could have stayed here a lot longer. Fougeres is a lovely village/town but avoid sundays because most (99%) of the restaurants were closed in the evening in June.
What a beautiful place to stay. The decor was interesting and suited the chateau well. The host was very friendly, the rooms were very big and the bathroom was too. The bed was a beautiful 4 post and was very comfortable. Would stay here again and recommend. Great base for visiting Fougeres which has a great castle and town surrounding it.
The location was excellent and very quiet. There was public free parking nearby. The room has everything you need and it was very clean. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast isn't included but it's worthy paying for it as an extra as it was delicious and huge The building is antique with a lot of style and history.
Amazing 1790 private house overlooking the Chateau de Fougère and the valley. Charmingly restored, still rustic. Like living in a country house 100 years ago. It with a very nice bathroom. For breakfast the owner serves milk, eggs, and other products from her family’s farm. Staying here was a highlight of my trip to France.

Hotel Balzac is ideally located at the top of Fougères, we were a one-minute walk from a plaza with some nice bars, cafes, and restaurants. We received a perfect welcome from staff who were very patient with our broken French. I would recommend staying here and will visit again.
A good place to spend a night. Great Wifi, free public parking nearby. Good buffet breakfast is served in the hotel bistro. We were provided with a cot free of charge.
Tea making facilities as well as a small fridge in the room were great too.
Very nice and helpful hosts.
A free public parking nearby.
Close to the city center.
About 1 hour drive to Mont Saint-Michele (strongly recommended). However, you'll probably enjoy a walk in Fougères center (city park and fortress) as well.
Nice, practical hotel, nothing fancy, but pretty much OK. Stayed 3 nights. Staff is nice and polite, speak very good English. Breakfast is same as at home: boiled eggs, cheese, ham, cereal, and what not... Nothing wrong with that.
Good location, easy to park car and walking access to some restaurants near by. Apartment itself is very comfortable and has all you need for a comfortable stay. Definitely a better option then hotel when staying for a few days!
what a lovely quirky hotel. fantastic rooms with spectacular views. many steps up to room, but worth the climb! lovely home made breakfast around a quirky shared dining room with views over the castle .. just lovely
A lovely restored Chateau. My room was spacious and very comfortable. The location is perfect to explore both Fougères and Vitré, two beautiful medieval villages.
We had a very pleasant night’s stay at the Brit du Parc Fougeres.
It was very comfortable and the receptionist Virginie was exceptionally helpful and charming.
