I recently had the opportunity to spend some time at the Visitors Camp and it was a truly unique and special experience. The camp is located in the heart of the desert near breathtaking sand dunes, and the isolated location provided a peaceful and serene atmosphere.
The Visitors Camp offered comfortable and well-maintained tents for sleeping, and I was pleasantly surprised by the amenities provided. Each tent was equipped with comfortable sleeping gear, and the camp provided a central area for cooking and dining. I appreciated the campfire area for the cool evenings, where I was able to socialize with other campers and enjoy the warmth of the fire.
One of the highlights of my stay at the Visitors Camp was exploring the stunning sand dunes. The camp staff were knowledgeable and provided great advice on the best spots for dune bashing and sandboarding. The sunset over the dunes was an unforgettable experience and a sight I will never forget.

we arrived late at night and the hotel staff met us at the gate to welcome us. they quickly loaded our luggage and brought us to our room. they also kept the restaurant open late for us and had prepared a delicious feast for our dinner. The staff went above and beyond in every way to ensure our comfort. Our room was clean, spacious, safe, and comfortable. We were heading out into the Sahara Desert the next morning for an overnight stay and the hotel staff let us keep our car at the hotel and let us keep our extra belongings in our room. They also encouraged us to use the gorgeous pool and go back to our room after the desert for a nice hot shower. We highly recommend this friendly and beautiful hotel for their warm and exceptional service. We felt like welcome family with their gracious hospitality.

This is not a luxury camp but a camp to give you a more authentic experience. We stayed in the tent (really more of an adobe hut) that had its own bathroom (there is only one). It was quite comfortable but just be aware there is no air conditioning so it can get hot. The location is spectacular! The hosts are very nice; unfortunately we did not have any interaction with them until the morning we were leaving but that was a highlight. We would have loved to have spent some more time talking with them. The food was very good and plentiful, especially dinner. Communication prior was a bit of a challenge (don’t let that discourage you) and finding the proper meeting point was tricky (maybe a picture showing exactly where to meet would be a good idea). We only stayed one night but would have gladly stayed another.
Featuring mountain views, Dar Sidi Bounou in Mhamid features accommodations, an open-air bath, a garden, and a shared lounge.

Dawood and Hicham have been so nice with us, helped us in any way possible, from letting us cook to use the washing machine. Plus the breakfast was 10/10!
Living in Morocco means that whenever I travel around I only look for authentic places. Dawoods place is one of them!
Thank you Dawood, you are such a good host!

I spent two days at Dar Sahara, and I wish I could have stayed for two weeks! As a solo female traveler, Mbarek made me feel safe and well taken care of in this remote location. He picked me up from the bus station, prepared a Berber omelette upon my late-night arrival, and organized an excursion that perfectly fit my schedule. The rooms are beautifully furnished, the grounds have comfortable lounge spaces, and the overall atmosphere is magical. Mbarek's calming presence adds to the joy of the experience. Exploring the lodging area reveals beautiful structures and breathtaking sunsets over dinner. If I return to this part of the world, I'll prioritize booking one of Dar Sahara's camping or trek excursions. The attention to detail in every aspect exceeded my expectations!
Immersed in the palm grove of M’Hamid, the family-run Auberge la Palmeraie offers traditional accommodations in tents and rooms and traditional breakfast daily.

I hoped to relax for a few days, and it was great for that. Meals at Auberge Palmeries are great. One evening there was fantastic music in various Moroccan styles. I had also hoped to go to Erg Chigaga and they also do very flexible trips there. Wonderful! The desert bivouac was much nicer than I expected.

A busy village with normal Moroccan/Desert life and passing tourists.
Only a few tourists stay overnight. Limited number of restaurants. People are very friendly and welcoming.
The whole village can be walked in 40 minutes. We had food at AZWAD which was nice.
The tourist shops are typical of Morocco but not too pushy.

This small town is the entrance to the Sahara desert, so it’s an advantage for those who come for the trekking or the desert tours. The disadvantage is the sandstorm that hits directly the houses and streets of the town.
Nevertheless the people in the town are cheerful and friendly, they welcome the visitors with lovely smile
The town is rather new to the local people, a few km away from the town, the vast oasis spread in which embraces several Ksars with ancient earth and cray buildings. One can explore those ksars, meet the people in the communities, that is a precious experience apart from the camel rides or trekking in the desert.

M'Hamid is the perfect gateway to the Sahara Desert.
M'Hamid is the perfect gateway to the Sahara Desert. The village exudes a peaceful atmosphere, and the locals are incredibly welcoming. We used M'Hamid as our starting point for an unforgettable desert adventure. The camel trek into the dunes and the night under the starry sky were simply magical. M'Hamid is a hidden gem worth exploring!

Perfect place to start your trip into the Sahara desert.
Perfect place to start your trip into the Sahara desert. We went to the Chegaga dunes, 60 km by 4x4 on dirt tracks. There are several bedouin camps you can book for an unforgettable overnight stay. We booked with Chegaga berber camp. We highly recommend them.
The return trip was 90€ (900 dirham) and well worth it.

Very nice and calm village with simple people.
Very nice and calm village with simple people. Village is big oasis what makes it very beautiful with river Draa, kasbahs and palms. There are many shops, beautiful mosque and the desert around, from where you can start your track.
Mhamid you can look by your feet. But for go to desert better take a camel. You can take 4#4 but this will not give you feeling like you are Bedouin one :-).
We were a family of 7 people and had an amazing stay in the Sbai Palace. My wife and me stayed in a bungalow, which was so romantic!!! The dinner they serverd was just delicious and the ambience during dinner in the hotel garden next to the pool was absolutely fantastic! The friendly hotel team also helped us with unforgettable excursions to the famous Chegaga Dunes and organized a night in a luxury desert camp under 1001 stars. Thanks again for all your great and very professional help, we will definitely come back!
A wonderful placewonderful place on the edge of the desert - the perfect start of a desert journey in a cozy traditional desert camp. our Host Idir is an extremely hospitable and will happily tell you everything you want to know about nomadic lifestyle and Moroccan culture. Idir can communicate in different languages which is really important in Morocco and was very kind to arrange transportation for us. To sum it up - Idir made our trip an unforgettable experience and helped with everything we asked for.
The location next to the dunes and a “palmeraie” was very nice. Even though the hotel is under renovation, profiting from the few guests that arrive during the summer to this part of the country, the manager made everything in his hands to make our stay as good, comfortable, and enjoyable as possible. Dinner was very well prepared and abundant. The bungalows decor has a good mix of modern and traditional styles. Once the renovations are over, the hotel will look great!
I would recommend this camp to everyone. The tents are very nice, they have their own toilet and shower. It was very luxurious. Furthermore the service was great. We were picked up from cafe le petit prince en dropped off the next day. You can book severel things via the camp like a camel and 4x4tour to erg chegaga desert. In the evening we got a delicious dinner and enjoyed traditional Moroccon music by the campfire. 10/10 would recommend
"Our family embarked on a journey through Morocco, and the M'Hamid Camp undoubtedly stood out as the absolute highlight of our adventure. The service was exceptional, and the accommodations were simply breathtaking. Hakim's personal touch made us feel truly extraordinary. It was such an incredible experience that we're already planning our return to Morocco just to stay at Hakim Camp once again. It was nothing short of AMAZING!"
This was by far the most remarkable experience we had in Morocco. It was incredibly beautiful and enjoyable. The accommodations were clean and comfortable, and the staff was unbelievably helpful. Hassan, one of the staff members, went above and beyond to assist my sick friend, showing exceptional kindness and dedication. This experience deserves a perfect 10/10 rating; it's an absolute must-do and should not be missed!
We had a wonderful stay with Younes. He has been a super friendly but not intrusive host who made us have an unforgettable stay.
You don't need a camel tour, quad biking and no frills? Then you can enjoy a beautiful night with sunset, candlelight dinner, campfire and an unforgettable starlit sky at Berber Camp M'Hamid.
Don't expect it to be a 5-star hotel, everything is kept simple, but very clean.
Perfect stay, could not have been happier in mhamid at Dar Paru. Lovely, friendly and helpful staff, and beautiful decor and atmosphere. Great and comfortable beds and warm showers. The staff here make coming to mhamid and the Sahara Desert very easy, beautiful and exciting. The food is the best we have had in Morocco. Incredibly cheap for the experience, support and quality you receive. We will be back!

Exceptional location, if you want to stay away from crowd, it is the perfect place! Clean, cosy room - a little bungalow is waiting for you with the kindest host ever. Breakfast and dinner were delightful - made extra for us according to our wishes. The owner, Mohsin is happy to fulfill his guests wishes. Whenever in Mhamid again, we will come back here for sure!!! Love this place forever!
This place is simply incredible. Colourful, welcoming tents and amazing facilities.
Food was AMAZING - we had the best tagine in Morocco!
Watching the moon rise and the beautiful night sky and stars - a special forever memory.
Younes is a perfect host and goes out of his way to make your stay special.
Bathrooms were better than some B&Bs!
I have to note that we arrived late (by bus) Then we have spent a day at the desert camp (camel riding, lunch, walking) and it was very nice! I was pleasantly surprised by staff (very nice people!) and that they spoke english rather fluently and help us to organize trip 4x4 to chegaga desert. Decent accommodation for such a place.
Very good breakfast and dinner. WiFi , good tent the pillows were the best have seen in Morocco by far. Super welcoming staff greeted us with tea foods was a lot .there are activates . we had camel for into the accommodation we were so happy
Highly recommend desert berber fire camp
Thank you so much Yassine and Ali.
Yaya, the trip guide, is great! We took the three day trip from Marrakech to erg chegaga and it was an awesome experience visiting places such as Ait Ben Haddou and the Mhamid desert with almost no turists! and they are nice and professional. I would recommend it 100% Big hug to everyone and a special one to the camels
Dawood and Hicham have been so nice with us, helped us in any way possible, from letting us cook to use the washing machine. Plus the breakfast was 10/10!

Thank you Dawood, you are such a good host!
Everything was perfect. The room, the heating (it’s cold in February in M’Hamid), the dinner and breakfast, the service, the left luggage while on a stay over in the desert, the guitar and singing in the lobby… Our best guesthouse in two weeks in Morocco. We would book again immediately.
It was the best day of our stay in morocco. Walking on camels to the camp and seeing the sunset on the dunes is amazing and an unforgettable experience. Afterwards we had the best tajen so far and sat under the stars at a bonfire and listen to our guides playing the drums and singing.
It was a wonderful experience to sleep in these super comfortable tents in the dunes of the Mhamid desert. The staff is always available to meet any needs and has been able to create a family atmosphere. You must visit erg chigaga desert Well done!!!
