The best thing about Portland are the family members who live there; they are the reason for our visit.
We do enjoy going to many sites in Portland including the various gardens: Rose Garden, Chinese Garden, Japanese Garden, Pennisula Garden, Rhodendron Garden, and just walking around neighborhoods seeing the beautiful trees and plants. Powell's Bookstore is a must. We went to a Thorn's (women's Pro soccer team) game. It was exciting. There are many good food options in Portland. We like the zoo and of course there are many sites nearby to visit including a plethora of "falls" like Multinoma and Bridal Veil.
The beauty of the city is blighted by homeless camps which lead to much litter, etc.

Portland, you're a breath of fresh air, reminiscent of my beloved Calgary with your mellow pace of life. Yet, you offer a gentle winter, free from the icy grip that defines our seasons. Your embrace of the LGBTQ community and the effortless kindness of your residents have been a revelation, challenging the media's portrayal with a beautiful reality. A heartfelt shoutout to Moxy Portland Downtown for their uniquely fabulous vibe and warm hospitality. You've been the highlight of our journey. As we conclude our road trip across the US Pacific Northwest, it's clear—Portland, you're the perfect finale. 🌲✨

We enjoyed the area around our hotel, very much.
We enjoyed the area around our hotel, very much. It was the Northwest section of Portland. It was by Old Town and by China Town. It was also close to the waterway path, along the River. It felt safe. It felt up-lifting.

I enjoyed the city however do not recommend walking at night downtown. The Ghost tour was not worth the time however the restaurants and food trucks were amazing. Highly recommend Hawthorne Asylum Food Cart Pod and the Japanese Gardens.

Enjoyed the nature and greenery.
Enjoyed the nature and greenery. Went to Providence Park for Timbers soccer match and would highly recommend. I liked Washington Park with the Japanese Gardens and Rose Test Gardens. Liked walking around Powell's Books. Really enjoyed walking around NW District neighborhood, and eating at Sweet Bacon Cafe and Scottie's Pizza Parlor. Recommend staying at Inn at Northrup Station in NW District or the Tiny Digs Hotels in Kerns neighborhood in East Portland. Enjoyed Screen Door restaurant at East Portland. Trail Blazers Basketball game at Moda Center was fine.
There is a lot of homeless and possible drug use around downtown Pearl District. Never felt threatened or in danger but definitely need to be cautious.

I came up for the afternoon to look at an item I may purchase. Portland is a pretty area, but I did not take in any of the sites: no time to.
If you have to stay over night AVOID the
airport Shilo Inn!!
Packaged breakfast but freshly made every morning. Breakfast fairly good considering its covid time. Starbucks coffee bland and bad, needs more coffee in the brewer. The hotel is conveniently located a walking distance to shops and restaurants. The area is definitely cleaner and safer than staying in downtown Portland. I love the big rooms that has a seating area complete with a desk, fridge and microwave. The rooms are relatively clean and decor fairly up to date. I would stay here again but i just wish the walls are more soundproof.
My experience was great. Obviously not a four star hotel, but my experience was very acceptable. Staff helpful and friendly. Room clean.
Neighborhood not great but ok. I rented a car so didn't use public transportation. It looked like it would be easy to get around, plenty of buses.
My business was not downtown Portland, although I did go into Portland, and finding parking was pretty easy. I should have taken the bus.
Exceptional staff at check-in/front desk, dining/coffee, housekeeping. They were helpful with recommendations for local dining and shopping as well. Excellent location within walking distance of some of the best shopping and dining in Portland. It felt like a great area to live and work and met every need I had. Parking was off street within the hotel structure which was a nice surprise.
The hotel had a very Portland hipster feel to it. The room had concrete floors and a cool lounge chair with a tray for hanging out and eating/drinking/writing while looking out the window (though my room didn't have much of a view). You're right in the heart of the Pearl District and a short walk away from Powell's Books, so there are plenty of dining and shopping options nearby.
Good location if you’re looking to get away from the busyness of Downtown/Pearl District but still close enough to get anywhere you’re looking to go. Everyone working was super nice and the space is just lovely. Very comfortable room with lots of snacks/drinks at the ready and room service for anything else you might want. Lovely little coffee shop for those morning cravings.
Bathroom renovated recently. Easy 20 minutes walk to cross the Burnside bridge to downtown Portland. Yes, there is nightclub sharing the parking lot however we didn't notice any noise from the club. We stayed in corner overlooking NE10th and NE Couch. No one touched our roof box during our four nights stay. Clean rooms. Good breakfasts in East Portland within 10-15 min walk.
Awesome location in downtown. Room was fantastic with a high ceiling and very clean. The rooftop was a great place to hang and the staff was very friendly upon arrival. Many reviews complained about the presence of people experiencing homelessness near the hotel - if this is a problem for you, maybe Portland isn't the city for you.
Beautiful old hotel in a brilliant location.
Lovely and attentive staff, huge room with comfortable beds and furnishings. Several divers food options around the corner and downtown Portland at your doorstep.
I loved it so much I booked a weekend for my brother and sister in law a couple weeks later.
Great place! The hotel is extremely hip and has a lot of facilities. The location is great. There were no homeless around the area and we were ok walking around to downtown. The room was also really great and had all the facilities we needed. I would definitely stay here again.
The room was small but clean. The shower was very nice. The breakfast was substantial and the coffee unlimited. The location was in the Pearl district which is downtown Portland, but right behind the building, is tent city which makes for unsafe walking and exploring.
Staff was very helpful and friendly. The restaurant was very good and had much more of a varied menu than I was expecting. Location is great if you are looking to be close to the Airport or Northeast side of Portland. About a $22 Uber ride from The Pearl district.
Cool staff, noticed mostly younger people staying here, great vibes at the bar and a spacious lobby area to hang around and chat with friends. A newer hotel with more recent tech, TVs are Chromecast enabled. Location in downtown Portland is very convenient.
Convenient modern hotel near the Portland Airport and sharing a free shuttle bus with the Sheraton next door. The location is quiet except for the occasional airplane on the runway we could see outside our window. The included breakfast was okay.
The staff at front desk were brilliant and welcoming. Good beds, good restaurant and gym facilities along with good laundry facilities. Not right downtown however trolley close by and they offer a shuttle from the hotel.
My wife and booked this hotel because we were in town for a Portland trail blazers game then we took the max downtown and explored and had a great breakfast at mothers bar and grill
Our room at the Paramount Hotel was clean and comfortable. It's location was perfect for out trip, dropping a son off at Portland State and proximity to downtown.
