The bathroom was the cleanest of all the hotels/hostels I stayed at in Japan, which was incredible given the amount of people staying in a room. I also liked that there was a luggage room/area before the beds so that you couldn't hear people rummaging through their stuff in the night. Overall, very pleasant and comfortable.

Very good hotel for the price. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Room was business hotel standard. Window could be opened. Located directly at the main shopping district. Public bath that was also accessible to the public at certain hours. As for the current construction work: the men’s bath was fully functional and open despite of one smallish hot pool.

Fantastic hotel. Excellent 13th floor spa (indoor baths, outdoor bath, sauna), which was clean and had long opening hours. Great location around Okaido (Central Matsuyama) - many restaurants and shops nearby, easy to get to the castle cable car (by foot) and Dogo Onsen (by tram). Good range of food and drink for breakfast in the restaurant, which had nice views of Matsuyama Castle. Very kind and helpful staff who always helped with our questions. Bed and sofa were very comfortable.

Really enjoyed Matsuyama and was sad to leave.
Really enjoyed Matsuyama and was sad to leave. The castle (with its chair lift up to it) was great. There are lots of options for shopping, eating and drinking and the whole area around Dogo Onsen is very nice.

Where there isn’t the sea, the city is surrounded by mountains. With the hill that has the castle on top, it creates a nice atmosphere. The onsen town (Dogo onsen) is where I mostly stayed. It was fun to see people walking around in the street in their yukata.
Like in many Japanese cities, the tram is cute and all, but it’s very inefficient. Moreover, you can only pay with cash or their local IC card. You cannot use standard IC cards like Pasmo, Suica, etc.
We ate at our wonderful hotel (Kowakuen) so I cannot speak about the restaurants.

Beautiful city full of amazing places to visit.
Beautiful city full of amazing places to visit. The must visits are of course the mountain top castle named Matsuyama Castle and also so many others like the Okaido shopping street and the Bansuino old French-style house. There are also delicious foods to try such as the Taimeshi which was delicious as well as the amazingly delicious oranges (mikaan) around the city. There are so many shops selling mikaan and mikaan juice that if you like fruits, you will love this city.

Matsuyama, in the winter at least, is pretty boring.
Matsuyama, in the winter at least, is pretty boring. The big onsen that they go on about is a tourist trap so I would not waste your time. I was told Spring and Fall were the best times to go as the Summer is hot and humid. The people seem OK but don’t really want to be bothered by foreigners.

I visited Matsuyama as part of the 88 temple Henro pilgrimage and so took in several temples, shrines and the Matsuyama Castle which is the most impressive castle I have visited in Japan thus far. The hot springs are also excellent and plenty of nightlife options.
Stayed at Hotel Eco Dogo for two nights and overall had a good experience. It only takes 3 minutes to walk to Dogo Onsen and 6 minutes to walk to Dogo Onsen station. There is a limousine bus ran by Iyotestu/伊予鉄道 which take you from directly from Matsuyama airport to Dogo Onsen Station or vice versa. The dorm room bed is quite spacious and there is a dedicated full-size locker for each dorm occupant. The lady who handles the reception duty is very helpful and friendly.
It's in front of theDogo Onsen’s main building. They provide you with yukatas and shoes so you can get the full experience. The room was spacious and clean. The hotel is a little bit old yet, they keep everything super clean. The staff is amazing, my suitcase broke whiletraveling and, they were kind enough to help and draw me a map in English to the nearest store where I could buy a new one. みんなさん、本当にありがとうござしつました!!
The Hotel located at a very convenient place. You can easy to access to Matsuyama JR Station to go to the Airport, or take a taxi to the Airport, to walk go to the Mall shop, walk to the Matsuyama Castle, and the Hotel is right next to the night-bus stop.
Also, you can see the ground -train which I think is the unique train in Japan just in front of the hotel.
The hotel is right opposite Dogo Onsen with great views and interesting people watching. The room was spacious and comfortable and the fusion Japanese/French dinner and buffet breakfasts were excellent. The inside and outside onsens are lovely and our room also had a deep tub using the same water as Dogo Onsen. Staff try really hard to please.
i like the location of this hotel, just infront of the matsuyama castle and park, and its just 7-8mins of walk to the train station, there is a convenience store nearby just infront of the hotel. i like the staff they are accomodating even the cleaning staff.. we love our stay in this hotel..
The manager of the facility was exceptional. She offered to show me around Matsuyama with her car, but since I was exhausted by riding all day, I respectfully declined. She cooked me and the other guests a delicious meal that we couldn’t finish because we were too full!
Very charming old Japanese house. We had a wonderful stay, the room was big and the owner was amazing, going out of his way to make everything great: Allowing us to use the onsen although we hadn't booked, making special breakfast for our kids. Thank you so much!
The breakfast was very good. They had a lot of different options available and everything we tried was delicious. The room was spacious and clean. The hotel is brand new so the bathroom was very modern and beautiful.
Good size room, goid breakfast. Got a good deal on the rooms with breakfast.
Walking distance to robeway to Matsuyama Castle n shopping district.
Will consider staying at more Tokyu REI hotels.
The hotel was very clean, very comfortable and gave us a real taste of traditional Japanese hotels. We loved visiting the onsen and using the free foot massagers with the free sake and snacks!
Location outstanding. In hotel Onsen plus proximity to famous public onsen. Everything relatively new and ver
y clean and hygienic. Comfortable bed. Reasonable price.
The staff at the hotel were very helpful. The location of the hotel is very convenient, close to trams and restaurants. The rooms were comfortable, clean and quiet.
Excellent shower separated from the tub. Decent size room for the price. Plush towels. Very good breakfast with a large selection of Japanese and Western items.
