Converted from an 18th-century farmstead, Battlesteads is a stylish country inn with an 80-seat restaurant. It is set in beautiful countryside close to the Roman Wall.

Lovely warm room. Comfortable bed , slept well as very quiet . Nice shower .
Food on dinner menu was amazing . The quality of food would beat any restaurant in a big city. Inventive menu sourcing local produce .
Set on the banks of the North Tyne, in an unrivaled setting overlooking Chester’s Roman Bridge and Hadrian's Wall beyond, this friendly hotel is surrounded by beautiful gardens and spectacular walking...

The George Hotel could be great but it lacks the final polish. It is in a very picturesque position and more should be made of it. The cuisine should be reviewed as at present it is not acceptable. Service is good but the hotel lacks the personal feeling. If it makes the effort and up's it's approach to customer satisfaction it will be a great hotel and a great venue for functions like weddings etc

The trip was planned to view Roman architecture in Chollerford and the surrounding area, should have allocated an extra day. So much to see. Very helpful staff at the English Heritage sites. Great area to visit.

Beautiful surroundings and a good location for visiting loads of local attractions. Sitting in the garden with a glass of wine and soaking up the view was brilliant. The hotel staff were great and the whole place had a busy, buzzy feel. The only downside is the hotel needs redecorating.

It was a good place to stay for travelling around to visit...
It was a good place to stay for travelling around to visit different places, we have never been to Northumberland before but found it very interesting & we were very lucky with the weather which made it very pleasant for outside tours ECT.
This hotel was a good location for a wedding we were attending nearby. The staff were very friendly, the pool was nice and virtually empty so we were able to have a nice relaxing swim. The gym equipment looked pretty good but didn’t use it. Breakfast was good - what you’d expect from a buffet style option. Hot plates being regularly refilled so items were fresh and hot. Beautiful views across a peaceful river and picturesque old bridge
We walked to Chollerford as part of our Hadrian's Wall hike. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and exactly what we needed after a long day of walking. Our room and bathroom were very modern and the views were fantastic. The pool onsite was very helpful for aching legs. We got the half board and thus worked out to be one of the cheaper places we stayed at along the wall, as we did not have to pay additional for dinner.
The hotel location is beautiful - right on the River North Tyne banks next to a stunning 300 year old bridge. Hotel garden overlooks the river and is a stunning place to have a drink/meal. The swimming pool was a good size and warm. Good size free car park.
We stayed here for 1 night whilst completing the Hadrians Wall walk so the swimming pool was a welcome extra. The rooms were good despite being a little tired. The view from room overelooking the gardens and the river were lovely.
Staff were friendly, attentive and approachable but sadly the hotel is very tired. Room wasn’t particularly clean with cobwebs in all corners. Broken tiles in the bathroom. The one teabag I thought was a little mean!
The hotel is in a lovely setting, the staff are very friendly and the bedrooms and public rooms are well appointed. The staff even surprised me with a specially decorated table for my birthday!
Great price. Good location. Lovely River side garden. Single night stays on a Saturday were all plus points. You get what you pay for and we were very happy with the hotel and food.
Lovely stone building in a peaceful and picturesque setting. The hotel was warm and cosy on an autumnal evening. The room was clean and comfortable for a 1 night last minute stay.
We liked the premises however dogs were welcome but all over the hotel barking from 05.45 Saturday morning not on.
Ideal location staff shortages
Would stay again
Staff were fantastic. Really went out of the way to make sure we were well catered for. The location and hotel garden is exceptional. Mattress was very comfy.
