  • The Hotel is well placed not far from Reading City Centre and commands an excellent location on the River Thames near Caversham. Plenty of parking with a secure parking lot adjacent to the Hotel. Swift check in and double room was very clean and modern with fast wifi. Excellent spa facilities and nice breakfast buffet. All for a very good price. Recommended.

  • Got this hotel as a last minute deal for my daughter & her friend who where at the Reading Festival. They only wanted somewhere to sleep for one night & have a decent shower in the morning. It was a very cheap rate for a night. The facilities in the room were excellent and well appointed. Spotless, well equipped bathroom & probably newly decorated. They didn't have breakfast so can't comment.

  • Clean surroundings, helpful staff. Can recommend this place for a 1/2 night stay. Very little surrounding it as its in a commercial part of Reading. Easy access and free parking under the hotel for guests. Good selection of breakfast to suite most tastes, our children certainly enjoyed the election and so did we. Pool is open to children till 7pm bit we did not have opportunity to try this facility.

Rainbows Lodge Hotel and Serviced Apartments Good 7 This is a reasonable hotel for the price, I wouldn't bring the other half here for a romantic break, but for business it's fine (then again, I wouldn't bring her to Reading for a romantic break!). Free wifi is a very good bonus and the staff are very friendly, especially the lady who works on reception. Reading station is only a few minutes walk away, as is the town centre, so can't criticise the location. I read complaints about the noise before booking, but I'm pleased to report that despite being on a room facing the road I slept fine. Slightly odd compliment, but I'm very impressed with the quality of iron supplied, it was excellent, not one of those shoddy travel ones. It glided over my shirts with a very pleasing aerodynamic motion, leaving no creases behind. A refreshing change from some hotel irons!
Malmaison Reading Very good 8.2 Modern contempary design clean and good quality
Bull Inn Very good 8.1 History and quirkiness of the building, stairs to bedrooms were beyond quirky! Loved the bedroom, including the really small door into the en-suite - good job 6'2" son not staying there - wouldn't get through the door. Staff extremely helpful. Atmosphere in pub very friendly. Arrived late, but staff did their best to make sure we had a table and a lovely meal.
Reading Lake Hotel Pleasant 6.4 Nice airy spacious room. Plenty of car parking. Large reception.
The Bath Hotel Good 7.1 My cosy room was nice and clean. Travelling solo, the en suite room was good value for money. The price of the room includes a delicious full English breakfast every morning which also has a good selection of continental breakfast items. Also, the staff was friendly and helpful.
The Abbey House Hotel Good 7.5 Really nice hotel with very comfortable, beautiful rooms. Everything was clean. We needed to extend our stat and everybody was more than helpful. They really made us feel like home.
The Mill House Very good 8.3 lovely staff, jsut lovely, it was raining hard and we were in a local pub, I called the hotel for a taxi number but the phone cut out of signal, next thing I know 5 mins later one of the staff drove down in their own car to collect us! Wow, waht service! Great room, food, bar and reception staff. Highly recommended.
Best Western Calcot Hotel Good 7.6 Breakfast was really good with lots of choice. Bacon was great. The staff were excellent throughout the hotel with consistency. Nice atmosphere in the bar with good beers. Very quiet room.
Wee Waif Pleasant 6.8 First hotel recently to have a really comfortable bed. A little firm but some other places the floorboards are softer so I slept really well. Room was an excellent size, had a sofa. Staff very professional.
Best Western Plus Reading Moat House Very good 8.3 The reception staff was very nice and the room was nice, good bed; with 2 pillows. Nice restaurant with nice variety of plates. We had a steak and risotto. A young guy asked not how the steak should be done but came back later to ask it anyway. He was not yet familiarized with the proceedings in the restaurant.
