Shenzhen is considered one of the most successful and prosperous cities in China. It is located in the Guangdong province, along the border with Hong Kong. Although 30 years ago it was a small fishing village, the creation of the first Special Economic Zone transformed the region into a bustling metropolis with almost 15 million people.
Its shiny urban landscape and cultural life include contemporary icons like the Shenzhen Library, the Concert Hall, and the Portofino complex. The districts of Futian, Luohu and Nanshan are packed with modern hotels, including some of the best 4 and 5-star accommodation in Shenzhen.
The city is famous for its amusement parks, including the’Splendid China and China Folk Culture Villages’. During the 17th century, migrants from the northern Hakka peoples arrived in significant numbers, and remnants like the ‘Crane Lake Fortified Hakka Village’ are an important legacy. The region includes beautiful beaches, and the Dapeng Peninsula is gaining momentum as one of the country’s best coastal stretches.
The city is serviced by Bao'an International Airport, while Hong Kong International Airport is reachable by public transport. Ferry, bus and railway links to Hong Kong, Macau or Guangzhou are also available. Whether you need a fancy hotel in the business district or express accommodation near the airport, don’t miss the Shenzhen deals on Booking.com!
Shenzhen is a well managed modern city. It is ok even if you don't know a bit of Chinese. No problems in exploring and roaming around. Perfectly safe. Local Chinese people in Shenzhen are very cooperative and mind their own business. Very helpful and chill community. Night life is fantastic. I love to visit again for longer periods.

Shenzhen is a very vibrant city with a relatively young population, with the majority of the population under the age of 30. Nanshan is the high tech area where HQ's of tech firms are located, it is like Silicon Valley on steroids

Good place, much better than 20+ year ago when I used to worked around that area. But some people there quite rude, especially taking the MRT, people never follow rule to let passengers leave the car first. Also too many smoker, you can smell them at every street, every building, every toilet.....

The subway system is huge.
The subway system is huge. You can find subway entrances almost anywhere you go. I carried a subway map and this enabled me to change lines at interconnected stations to get back to my hotel. The subway stations often have shops and eateries. They are so big that you need to be careful which exit you use. You can end up hundreds of meters away from where you want to be. There are many parks that are well kept and shady. The visitor needs to be aware that this city is not centered around Western tourism. If you speak Chinese you will be better able to enjoy all ShenZhen has to offer. The theme parks of "Window of the World" and "Chinese Cultural Village" are huge. You need to walk around them for 4 to 6 hours before nightfall and then stay for the lights. I found the people very friendly and most were willing to help me. They used their phone translator App to assist me. BE SMART, get a SIM card at the port of entry. All shops can only sell SIMs to people with a Chinese address and phone number. The ports have SIMs for tourists. Google translate doesn't work get another translate APP.
I liked the cleaniness, the efficient polite staff from front of house, the technical team and the house keeping team.
I like, the clean modern decor, the location ,its about 100yds from the entrance of the metro station .It was reasonably quiet despite being right next to Shenzhen's busiest pedestrian street, which is a fun place to experience.
We have stayed in other hotels in Shenzhen and have not found one better. Dongmen Yitang Service Apartment will be our first choice.
We have re- booked and our total stay is 18 days.
Location was great as it was about 10 minutes walk to either Qiaocheng North or Qiaocheng East metro stations where you can take line 2 or line 1 and these lines get you to almost all the major attractions in Shenzhen (e.g. Sea World, Dameisha Beach, Window of the World, Splendid China Folk Village). Just opposite the hostel is the OCT East Market building which has a supermarket and a few restaurants. There are also other good restaurants and cafes nearby (< 5 minutes walk).
The hotel is at walking distance from Luohu check point, train station and subway station, however, there are a lot of stairs between them, it will be a challenge if you have a big / heavy suitcase. The staff in the restaurant are very nice even we arrived just half an hour before the service closed. The food in the restaurant is also good but at a high end pricing at Shenzhen standard. The breakfast offers a variety choices but the taste is average.
The hotel staff tricked me and charges me extra amount saying that your room don't have window but if you need with window you need to pay extra. However I paid for that . When I checked in I found that it as not having regular window but just a small vent on top of room which was not at all window..very next day I cancelled my other booking with this hotel and checked in to other hotel.
I appreciated the hotel's proximity to parks and skyscrapers, which made exploring the city convenient and enjoyable. The presence of a good restaurant near the hotel was a pleasant surprise, as it provided a convenient dining option. The new design and furniture in the hotel were stylish and added to the overall aesthetic appeal of the place.
Perfect in every way. Not a cookie-cutter corporate luxury behemoth, but a small, friendly, personal hotel set in a lush garden. The restaurant is popular will the local in-crowd. This is really a gem. I hope it doesn’t get too discovered! I will always stay here when I am in Shenzhen.
Wowwww in this area there is no alternative to this hotel. Location, value, service everything was perfect.
Especially Mr. Jonathan is great. You have any question just find him and it is done. Thanks Mr. Jonathan for all your care. Also Mrs. Coco from housekeeping was very helpful.
It was fantastic and so good quality for the price
Very good staff specially with Ben show welcome us and help us to plan our visit in Shenzhen with very good advices. We strongly recommend this hotel and will come back next time
It is the best as well as the tallest hotel I have ever stayed at. I had a large room on 86th floor with a wonderful view.
The feeling of staying high up on 86th floor was just fantastic!
Nice hotel in Nanshan. The area is a bit boring, not much to see but the taxi prices in Shenzhen are relatively cheap so you can visit some places and bars near the hotel (7-8 km away)
The hotel is in a great location of ShenZhen. Very close to the Dongmen subway. The hotel is very old but with all the necessary needs. It is really value for money.
Hotel location is perfect. Hotel looks like a little bit overprices for the type of room.
Cleanliness is not up to the mark, there is a room for inprovement.
Very Good location
Big clean rooms
Fairly prices
Great stuff, Big thanks to Beta Hotel ID 0051
