I had two stays at this hotel, before and after a tour of the island. So, some of this is similar to my other review.

Historic Hobart, with its convict past, was often referred to as Australia’s neglected backwater. How times have changed as its temperate climate, quiet lifestyle and fabulous food and markets make it a revitalising tourist destination along the Derwent River in Tasmania.
The city’s significant maritime history begins at Constitution Dock, situated along the waterfront and facing the beautiful harbour. Nearby Battery Point and affluent Sandy Bay feature Georgian and Victorian architecture and the first settler’s cottages in Australia’s 2nd oldest city.
Escape to a memorable view of Hobart town from the snow-covered Mount Wellington or get close up and personal in the city’s quaint streets. Hobart comes alive during the colourful Salamanca Market, held every Saturday morning, where you can bag a bargain or sample mouth-watering produce such as local wines and cheeses.
Cascade Brewery and Cadbury’s Chocolates have tours of these Tasmanian icons or visit Wrest Point Casino, a popular event and entertainment centre.
The annual Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race in December and Tulip Festival in the Royal Botanical Gardens swells the population in this small capital city. Make sure you check Booking.com ahead of time for your colonial cottage, cosy B&B or waterfront apartment.
MONA was an amazing experience. Great ferry ride, interesting and sometimes challenging exhibits and meal, wait staff and entertainment at Farro restaurant were incredible.
Bus trip to MT Wellington a must also especially on a beautiful day.

I liked the cooler weather after living in Queensland and Nortern NSW for 60 years where it is too hot for me.
I like the fact that lots of history has been preserved.
I found there to be a shortage of eating venues, I couldn't find a nice, reasonably priced place for a good meal. The public transport is good but reality doesn't always agree with what is noted on the internet.
I followed timetables but sometimes the bus didn't run any more eg Cornelian bay had most of its advertised services cancelled. I depend entirely on the buses or walking as I do not drive so the bus service is very important to me.
I thoroughly enjoyed my 9 day stay in Hobart.

My 2nd time in Hobart. The last trip was a decade ago. Hobart gives a different vibe from the other cities in Australia. Tassies are very friendly & made me feel at ease. The city is very safe & I do not have any issues walking alone during the evening.

A picturesque city choc-a-bloc with elegant historic sandstone buildings.
On Day 1 after the drive up Mt Wellington to take in the superb views, we visited the Cascades Female Factory, the Botanic Gardens and then strolled around Battery Point and dined at Salamanca Place.
On Day 2 we enjoyed the scenic ferry ride to MONA and had a fabulous time there. (Bear in mind that it is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.)

Here's what.
Here's what. When I booked, I imagined that it would be a regular room with a space where I could have my suitcase and so on. I didn't imagine that it would be a cubicle. The idea of my 'room' is not applicable to this situation. This refers to the room, which I felt didn't allow me enough space to be specific.
Hobart was wonderful. I should have booked tours I wanted to do immediately. I bought food mostly from businesses in the mall and Woolworths. I had cereal at the Wharf and a small bowl was AUD16. A tad bit expensive, I'd say.
Getting around Hobart was really easy and I would return to Hobart for longer next time.
Great location in Salamanca across the road from the waterfront. The university across the road obscures the water views, but a short stroll away you have restaurants galore and the Salamanca markets. Stylish rooms. Our second stay at this hotel, a great jumping off point in Hobart to start your holiday. Has kitchen facilities in room and washer/dryer. We arrived after hours but received a phone call from staff that afternoon explaining after hours entry procedure, followed up by an email with all details again explained and confirmed.
Beautiful hotel, very original in conception. Wonderful location, just on the old Macquarie wharf at Hobart's tourist port. Excellent organization and careful management by the hotel's team. Closely linked to the history of the city of Hobart, whose colourful characters are finely sketched on the doors of the rooms. Excellent food at the "Old Wharf Restaurant" and very fine selection of Tasmanian gins, whiskies and vodkas at the "Evolve Spirits" bar.
Congratulations.
Staff professional, discreet yet friendly.
Room generous, inviting and comfortable.
Meals (breakfast) was delicious and prompt.
Hotel bar is classy, reasonable and accommodating.
Location is unparalleled for access to shopping and the heart of Hobart’s CBD.
While here, we felt like we were one of the many famous previous residents and were treated as such.
We were literally sad to leave and regret going to other parts of Tasmania to continue a pre-booked holiday.
Lovely hotel in Hobart CBD in a quiet location with a short 10 minute walk to Hobart Harbour. Rooms were well presented, clean and contained everything I needed. Very comfortable bed too! Reception area contained a bar and restaurant with a nice open fireplace. I would definitely stay in this hotel again!
We stayed in the gardeners cottage .It was lovely set out to period with all the mod cons you need .The garden is amazing and it is about a 15 min walk and your in the centre of Hobart ,hilly walk but didn’t bother us .I can’t talk this place up enough ,for a couple it was the perfect self contained unit .
Apartments are quite new & very clean.
Comfy bed & full kitchen if you want to cook.
Located 20m from Elizabeth St, which has dozens of cafes & restaurants.
7-minute drive to Salamanca Markets.
One of the only hotels in Hobart CBD with on-site parking (for a fee - need to prebòok parking).
Great location and easy walk into Hobart CBD, Salamanca and Constitution Dock ie. 25 minutes. Large room and same with bathroom. Very spacious. Plenty of eateries at your door step from the hotel, Noodle Box and even MacDonalds. Coles and Woollies virtually across the road.
Clean neat rooms, comfortable beds, friendly staff, very accommodating for our large family group of 8 in the 3 bedroom apartment, plus 3 very close by. Plenty of seating in the living area, large well-equipped kitchen. Beautiful setting and a great price.
The location, room, hotel staff and general facilities were perfect. Also the artwork displayed were nice. There are very good restaurants nearby and Hobart's waterfront was gorgeous. We had a perfect stay. All our needs were perfectly met.
A stunning hotel that has been beautifully designed to take on all the heritage features. Great central location, most comfortable bed ever, and loved idea of the street prices mini bar! Will absolutely stay again next time I’m in Hobart.
This is a beautiful hotel in the best area of Hobart. We have stayed in this hotel on many occasions and this was by far the best it has ever been in terms of decor, cleanliness, kitchen facilities and friendliness of the owner/manager.
If you want to be close to the Casino, Wrest Hotel is very OK. For the central part of Hobart is a little bit far. but the bus stations are very close.
Room was clean and well cleaned every day.
The apartments have everything you need to be self contained. Secure luggage storage is really helpful, as was the lounge to use while waiting for convenient SkyBus transfer to airport..
