We live in Cairns, which is only a 5.5-hour drive away from Townsville. We use the town for quick get aways and shopping not available in Cairns.
Plenty of good places to eat with lots of variety from drive through to quality restaurants.
Getting around is pretty easy if you have Google maps or similar. It's very spread out and there seems to be multiple ways to get to some destinations.

Loved the area with friendly people everywhere.
Loved the area with friendly people everywhere. Went to the Museum which my Great nephew really loved. All hands on. Went to Kirwan Bowling and had a great time with all our extended family.
Also went to the Tavern and had a wonderful meal which didn't cost too much.
Spent time on The Strand at the Waterpark and all the kids had a ball splashing around.

It is a nice city surrounded by some rainforest, farmland and bush. Lots to see and do. I loved the museums. I loved the botanical gardens; the hill overlooking Townsville is five minutes drive away from the hotel and you can drive or walk up it. The esplanade is worth the walk. Lots of places eat and drink along it.

Townsville is a relaxed, growing city with good restaurants in Palmer Street and along the Strand. Easy to get around and always peaceful on the water front. Magnetic Island is a quick ferry ride away.

Great location in a quieter part of Townsville, yet very close to the strand and Palmer Street (only a few minutes drive). Our apartment had stunning views of the water and a very spacious balcony. It was the perfect size for a family of three. We will definitely be staying here again! Love the bonus of a cafe downstairs for a nice coffee in the morning. The best part was the value for money. It was one of the cheapest accommodation we could find in Townsville that offered two bedrooms
My room is 2 single bed but each bed has good size which is good for big guy (well i am not big) and 2 pillows each. Nothing cooking facilities or microwave, there are refridge & jug, a hotel room which is good enough for short stay. Walk-in bathroom, my window facing empty ground and the city, quiet, clean. I was allowed for early check-in 11.30am 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. Palmer Street is known for restaurants/cafes and 3-4 stars hotels so it is definitely safe area.
Great location. This is the second time we have stayed here and will always be our preferred accommodation when travelling through Townsville. It’s on the Strand close to restaurants. It has a great little cafe for some of the best coffee and breakfast overlooking the Strand. Room was comfy. The place is a little dated but it is fresh.
have stayed numerous times now and love the place. the value for money is great. you are in the quieter end of Palmer street so no noise but a few minute walk to all the cafes, pubs and restaurants. a 10 minute walk and you are on the Strand. and a two minute drive to the Magnetic Island car ferry. We love it.
It is located in quite a convenient spot in Townsville CBD. The staff were friendly & we were able to check in early. There is parking on site. Good air conditioning. Price competitive for the level of accommodation. We were only staying overnight. Probably good value if you are travelling on a limited budget.
Location was central to Palmer Street dining precinct with short walk to flinders and short drive to the strand.
The layout of the apartment was good and the air conditioner in good working order. Our room had great view over the river and Flinders street. The beds were also really comfortable.
Keira, the part time manager, was really nice and the best part of my stay. she helped me with all my inquiries, and booked me a taxi, which is hard to come by in Townsville, to the train station. Upper lounge area was really spacious and nice. Kitchen tidied up twice a day.
You really can't beat the location and price. The generously sized rooms and friendly staff are a bonus. The family rooms are great for inter-generational families as they have a separate queen room. This hotel ticks all the boxes in my book.
Nice little B&B option while in Townsville. The rooms were super clean and a little breakfast was provided.
It is convenient if driving but not in the most attractive part of town
Staff were so helpful, friendly. They are small rooms but very comfortable with easy access in and out of the complex in a great area of the Townsville City
Ease of booking, checking in, room had a fantastic view across to Magnetic Island and excellent location for access to restuarants and cafes on the Strand.
