Breakfast was good each morning. View is beautiful. The location is great close to a lot of local bars, and restaurants. A short walk to a park full of vendors that sell food. And located water front so the Ocean breeze is priceless.

The staff was very nice, and we were able to check in early.

We were surprised that the main part of the city was a bit 3rd-world -- but that was a lot of the charm of it. And all the people are NICE, and seem TOTALLY HAPPY, which makes it great to do things there! We didn't eat anywhere but our resort. If you buy any excursions, make SURE you know EXACTLY where you will meet and what time BEFORE you get into town! And definitely take a river cruise -- the BEST!

Belize city has a reputation that is not encouraging.
Belize city has a reputation that is not encouraging. Yet, I enjoy visiting the city as it has almost all that you can purchase in a North American City. There are areas that are considered "do not visit" zones but that is also characteristic of other cities. If you stay in the main part of the city you will be fine, but we should always be vigilant.

Belize is a good place. The people appear to be friendly.
Belize is a good place. The people appear to be friendly. Food is good.
It is a slow pact of life.
I do feel the government should actively start looking at how to support and protect the domestic animals such as the dogs and cats as there are many stray animals roaming around everywhere.
I also noticed dogs especially were tried up but in some cases I didn't see any drinking water basins supplied for them! As an animal lover I found this unacceptable.
There was a dog at Caye Caulker that was tried up with no food and water so I had to feed it. I went to inform the police and the police asked me- "What do I want him to do about it"?
I told him I wanted them to check it out as this is animal abuse as the dog was not being cared for. I told him I would check up at the police station later to find out what was done. He then said he would send a patrol out to investigate the situation.
When I got back the dog had been removed, I don't know what happened to the dog.
The man at the animal sanctuary said that lots of tourist come to tell him of these situation but he is full to capacity and unable to take any more animals. The government needs to do something as people can find this distressing and are hypersensitive these situation.

Not a bad place for a tropical capital, (not like San Jose, Costa Rica) but hot, hot, hot. Bad taxi problem, rediculous prices and decrepid cars. Museum ($7) open but all the Mayan artifacts in storage, perpetually apparently. Craft market near the harbour (outside the purpose built one for the cruise ships, now shut and depidated) worth a visit but only one or two stalls, none had sold anything in days we were told (highly believable with steep pricing necessary for elevated cost of living locally). Much poverty and relatively high crime rate, a cop on every corner very attentive to foreign visitors. 3 banks in main square close the ATMs regularly to avoid paying out.

Belize City is very commercial, industrial and rough around the edges at first glance but there are many things worth seeing in the area. Many of the residential neighborhoods are quaint and quiet. From Belize City, Altun Ha is just a short drive as well as The Baboon Sanctuary and the Belize Zoo. Smokeez Seaside Restaurant and Bar was our favorite spot, right on the water near the famous Belize Monument Sign”. If your up for really experiencing the culture of the country, you must spend a few days in Belize City.

Belize City itself is not much of an attraction.
Belize City itself is not much of an attraction. It is a good place to stay overnice before or after and international flight, prior to moving on to other places in the country. Taxis should be arranged by your hotel for airport pickups and departures. Waling around at night did not seem especially safe. We walked to dinner, before dark, and took taxis back to the hotel. Have your restaurant call the cab. No Uber
The property is in disrepair. The pictures online are clearly from 10 or so years ago and do not represent the current state of the grounds and hotel. I'm sure making it thru covid was difficult so I understand trying to bounce back. But it was hard to see that there was even an effort. The pool area was a disaster, no lounge chairs, unfinished bathrooms, Unfinished construction debri. Wires hanging from the ceiling. Everything other than the Casino was in pretty bad shape. Best of luck. Hope our stay help keep things afloat.
We are normally hostel dwellers but we needed a place to stay for the night in Belize City before heading out to Caye Caulker, and this place was amazing. Obviously more than we re used to spending but the room was super cute, beds were amazingly comfortable, and having control over the air conditioning was a dream for us. The ladies at the front desk were super nice and helpful. We had the best night sleep than we d had in a long time.
The hosts were amazing. Extremely pleasant and helpful. Outstanding service and food options. Walking distance to historic and bustling part of Belize City. Please don’t be fooled by other reviews. It is as safe as any big city as long as you use common sense. The knowledgeable hosts will guide you to interesting nearby attractions. Please spend a couple days here before heading out to the Caye’s. You won’t be sorry.
The location was not good. Too far from restaurants and too hard for taxis to find. I chose not to stay there cause it was to isolated. I had the additional cost of taxi trips to and from the restaurants. Not a good place to stay . I could not cancel so I got a hotel room close to resuarants.
On arrival we were upgraded to suite. Rooms had so much space and the view was amazing. There is a supermarket and a cafe inside the supermarket on the ground floor of the building. The restaurant on at the hotel was great too. We enjoyed the view from the rooftop.
This hotel has two parts:
- the so called 'colonial one', which is incredibly bad and not maintained (a bad 2 stars). It should be destroyed as it is beyond renovation...
- the brand new one in front ('fort George'), which is very nice, cosy and comfortable
Angie was great very helpful, especially as we booked with her about only 30 mintues before we arrived from a different hotel which was terrible and we ended up leaving that first place within an hour. Angie's space was an extreme breath of fresh air.
Françoise and her staff were amazing! Villa Boscardi is our new "go to" place to stay in Belize City. The beds are so comfortable and the neighborhood is safe with a great restaurant one half block from the house. Don't hesitate, book your stay here!
The daily breakfast delivered to the apartment was a bonus. Remote gate entrance and number keypad entry to the apartment provided a sense of security. The hotel was well-lit, which made it easy to find when navigating the dark road at night.
The location is great - it is very close to many of the things to do in Belize City - walking around the Fort George area, the old Anglican Church (15 min), the Museum of Belize (10 min) and only 5 minutes from the ocean ferries.
The cabins were really cute and nice ... Resort was super relaxed. Stay out of Belize City and stay here instead, it's a little outside of town but all our tours picked us up at the front gate anyway.. would def recommend
Cozy little place if you’d like to stay around the city center of Belize City! Angie was very kind and also provided me with information about the neighbourhood, supermarkets & restaurants. Definitely recommend it.
- HOT SHOWER!!! one of the few I’ve had while showering
- nice owner
- good food. reasonably priced for a hotel, but since I stayed in the dorm I would say a little expensive for backpackers
The room was very nice - clean and spacious. Great location for the last night before our flight out. Best hotel gym I have seen in a while, although some of the machins were a bit wonky.
I mean it was one cheapest one in the city but still I don't really know what to comment on. It was chill and silent bfor example and it was on the way of buses to airport
A charming hotel with friendly staff and delicious included breakfast. Pretty view from the rooftop pool! The front desk helped me get a taxi to the water taxi station.
