Shenzhen is considered one of the most successful and prosperous cities in China. It is located in the Guangdong province, along the border with Hong Kong. Although 30 years ago it was a small fishing village, the creation of the first Special Economic Zone transformed the region into a bustling metropolis with almost 15 million people.
Its shiny urban landscape and cultural life include contemporary icons like the Shenzhen Library, the Concert Hall, and the Portofino complex. The districts of Futian, Luohu and Nanshan are packed with modern hotels, including some of the best 4 and 5-star accommodation in Shenzhen.
The city is famous for its amusement parks, including the’Splendid China and China Folk Culture Villages’. During the 17th century, migrants from the northern Hakka peoples arrived in significant numbers, and remnants like the ‘Crane Lake Fortified Hakka Village’ are an important legacy. The region includes beautiful beaches, and the Dapeng Peninsula is gaining momentum as one of the country’s best coastal stretches.
The city is serviced by Bao'an International Airport, while Hong Kong International Airport is reachable by public transport. Ferry, bus and railway links to Hong Kong, Macau or Guangzhou are also available. Whether you need a fancy hotel in the business district or express accommodation near the airport, don’t miss the Shenzhen deals on Booking.com!
Shenzhen is a well managed modern city. It is ok even if you don't know a bit of Chinese. No problems in exploring and roaming around. Perfectly safe. Local Chinese people in Shenzhen are very cooperative and mind their own business. Very helpful and chill community. Night life is fantastic. I love to visit again for longer periods.

Shenzhen is a very vibrant city with a relatively young population, with the majority of the population under the age of 30. Nanshan is the high tech area where HQ's of tech firms are located, it is like Silicon Valley on steroids

Good place, much better than 20+ year ago when I used to worked around that area. But some people there quite rude, especially taking the MRT, people never follow rule to let passengers leave the car first. Also too many smoker, you can smell them at every street, every building, every toilet.....

The subway system is huge.
The subway system is huge. You can find subway entrances almost anywhere you go. I carried a subway map and this enabled me to change lines at interconnected stations to get back to my hotel. The subway stations often have shops and eateries. They are so big that you need to be careful which exit you use. You can end up hundreds of meters away from where you want to be. There are many parks that are well kept and shady. The visitor needs to be aware that this city is not centered around Western tourism. If you speak Chinese you will be better able to enjoy all ShenZhen has to offer. The theme parks of "Window of the World" and "Chinese Cultural Village" are huge. You need to walk around them for 4 to 6 hours before nightfall and then stay for the lights. I found the people very friendly and most were willing to help me. They used their phone translator App to assist me. BE SMART, get a SIM card at the port of entry. All shops can only sell SIMs to people with a Chinese address and phone number. The ports have SIMs for tourists. Google translate doesn't work get another translate APP.
The hotel is at walking distance from Luohu check point, train station and subway station, however, there are a lot of stairs between them, it will be a challenge if you have a big / heavy suitcase. The staff in the restaurant are very nice even we arrived just half an hour before the service closed. The food in the restaurant is also good but at a high end pricing at Shenzhen standard. The breakfast offers a variety choices but the taste is average.
Upon arrival at the Shangyuan International Hotel, I was greeted with a warm smile and professional service. The hotel's location is convenient, situated in the heart of the city, making it easy to access various attractions and business districts.
The rooms are spacious and well-appointed, with modern amenities and comfortable bedding. The bathrooms are sleek and clean, providing a relaxing space to freshen up after a long day.
I initially booked the King room but was upgraded to the Speciality King room with sofa bed and it was amazingly clean and new! I would definitely recommend this hotel and particular that room to anyone going to Shenzhen. I even wanted to stay and live in that room to tell you how clean and comfortable it was!! I will by the way try the other Hyatt hotels countries to compare if they are as good as the one in Shenzhen.
Ask for non-smoking room...but still can smell the smoke especially at the corridor.
The room is quite clean, but it's time to do the renovation. Unpleasant odor in the room. Upon entering, a strong, stale odor hits me.
If we add an additional 200~300++, we can stay at a 5 star hotel. We are staying here because it is convenient for public transportation only.
The room was bigger than average in Shenzhen. They gave free upgrade with bigger bed when my niece wanted to join. We went end of February, so the hotel was not busy. Hotel is at the far upper entrance of Hakka town mainstreet, seen from the perspective of MRT station.
If you are a FREQUENT traveller to China and you need to Travel within East of China without changing Hotel every nigjt; this is best location next to Shenzhen North Railway Fast Train Station
Rooms are clean and nice city view. love the bathtub.all the morning kits are available in room. delicious brakefast with lot of choices.there are lot of local restaurant around hotel area.
Nice view. But there are two buildings and we booked in one building. Then it was offered to pay for the room in another building with good view.
The hotel is ok. Not best.
The staff very went great with me, the manager treated me so well I feel better than home. Excellent treatment. For sure will be my address next visit to China.
