San José traffic is a hard pull to swallow.
San José traffic is a hard pull to swallow. The volcanos are covered by clouds so you may travel 2-3 hours and see nothing. The white water rafting was the highlight of the trip but not much to do. San Jose is extremely expensive. Prices are comparable to USA expensive resort prices. Ex: $4 for a soda. Also they have taxes for everything and then they ask you for more money. Their tipping is out of control

I’ve visited San Jose Costa Rica many times since the 1970s. It’s gotten completely jammed with traffic, but it is a beautiful city with lots to see and admire. My favorite is the old concert hall, which I’m blanking on the name, but it is the only concert hall I believe in the city. Being a city it’s always important to watch your pockets, and this is become a problem, the last couple decades. If you like a big city, San Jose is great. We live in southern Costa Rica and only go to San Jose for doctor visits and shopping. It's best to take a taxi or Uber in San Jose. The traffic is crazy. Be sure to use the WAZE app instead of Google for driving around. It stays more up to date.GaryCosta Rica

A lot of tour companies use this hotel as the starting point to their tours of Costa Rica. If you want to be in San Jose which is very nice to visit do not stay here. It is far from the airport and anything that San Jose has to offer. It will cost you an expensive taxi or Uber ride to get to San Jose and back to the hotel. The food was so so and expensive. It is better to go out of the hotel to eat.
