Renowned for its stunning architecture and the world’s largest fair, Oktoberfest, Munich needs little introduction. Its vibrant cultural scene, great shopping and fantastic museums speak for themselves.
Munich has something for everyone: from historic palaces and castles, to stunning royal avenues to world class galleries and museums. Don't miss the new city hall, or Glockenspiel, in the heart of Marienplatz or the former residence of the Bavarian kings, the Residenz. Munich is also home to the world’s most famous beer hall, the Hofbräuhaus.
For great shopping, Karlsplatz is a pedestrian zone which takes up much of the city centre and the upscale area around Maximilianstrasse is yet another commercial wonderland. Munich is famous for its food too, so make sure you try the local Weißwurst, Leberkässemmeln and other popular pork dishes.
Thanks to efficient S-Bahn train, getting to the city center from Germany’s second busiest airport, Munich International Airport is quick and easy. Whether you’re looking for luxury hotels, youth hostels or comfortable apartments, Booking.com has the perfect accommodation for your Munich visit.

Munich had a lot of visitors so it was very crowded and there was a LOT of construction going on. Visiting Frauen Kirche was great as well as the Dallmyer store, and best of the all the beer garden by the daily market place close to Marienplatz.
The main purpose of our trip was not to sightsee but to visit friends we have not seen for a long time.
The Botanical garden at Nymphenburg was excellent.
The worst thing about Munich, as well as some other cities is there is too much smoking in public places. If you are allergic to smoke Munich and other big cities in Germany is not the place to go. People smoke on the train platforms and even when standing in line for the bus or tram.

Easy to get around with walking, felt safe.
Easy to get around with walking, felt safe. Public transport also easy to use (once you get the hang of which tickets to buy and how to use them!).
The English Garden is a great place to get away, watch the surfers, and hang out at the beer garden by the Chinese tower.
Also, the Olympic Park, BMW museum, and BMW world are worth a day trip.
Plenty of museums to cater for everyone - I would recommend the NS-Dokumentationszentrum Munchen for its tasteful and honest insight into the history and current aspects of National Socialism and the far right movement in Munich.

Beautiful old city with plenty to see and do.
Beautiful old city with plenty to see and do. We stayed for 2 days and would happily have stayed longer. I was impressed by the architecture and landmarks, and by the high quality of the museums. However, the wide streets, tram tracks, and road works meant that the city centre was not always very navigable. Next time, I will visit during the off-season, as there were many tourists and the weather was quite hot.

great city, buy a transport ticket at the airport, (I use the desk as I can't work out the machines!) and use the u bahn to get everywhere easily. Do research before you go as to what you want to see most; there is a lot! We go frequently,(family there), often eat at Alter Simpl in Turkenstrasse, but lots of choice. We especially like the Lenbachhaus for art. Also the Viktualienmarkt near the Marienplatz is worth a visit for food and Bavarian souvenirs. Most people speak some English.
Nothing I would avoid, always feel safe even quite late in the evening.

Munich is a big modern city with some historical and interesting sights. The top sights like the Frauenkirche, Rathaus, Residence and Englischer Garten are great but much of the rest has been rebuilt many times so dont come expecting cute medieval buildings.
Food and drink is good and reliable especially if you want traditional. Even the busy tourist places like Hofbrauhaus and Augustiner do decent food and good beer without ripping you off. Maybe a euro here and there more expensive but you are paying for atmosphere. The downside of them being so busy is that service can be brusque. Dont take it personally.
Public transport is usually convenient but fails more often than you might expect with little information provided, even in German. On our last two trips the S-Bahn to the airport has let us down.
We enjoy walking around the historic centre but then use Munich as an entry point for the rest of Bayern which is really worth exploring.

The old town is lovely and lively.
The old town is lovely and lively. The outside dining is attractive. It is easy to visit other Bavarian cities and towns by train. I visited Nuremberg, Bamberg and Regensburg by train and all three were beautiful places.
The location of hotel is amazing, being in walking distance from the Munich Hbf and the old city centre. I absolutely adored the cozy and comfortable room, perfect for a romantic getaway! We arrived in the morning way before the check-in, but they enabled us to get the room earlier, making our day much more pleasant! The staff was so kind and granted all of our wishes! We didn’t regret paying extra for breakfast as the variety and choice of food was amazing. Will definitely choose this accomodation again next time we’re in Munich!
Large hotel quite close to Munich ring road. Ideal location if you are traveling by car and looking for a stay near Munich. It’s located far from city center so assume it’s mostly suitable for business travelers (Messe) and car travelers looking for an overnight near Munich.
Room is large enough with comfy beds and bathroom. There are also amenities for coffee and tea.
There was even at night free parking available.
We didn’t test the breakfast.
The staff at the reception desk was very friendly during the check-in. In my opinion, the hotel is quite clean in general, good breakfast and very calm at night to sleep very well. Location is not the best for visiting the city centre but in my case was good for being close to the Allianz Arena. Recommended if you visit the stadium for a game. Metro is 20 minutes walking distance and you have a bus in front of the entrance.
Great location for both walking and public transport to top attractions and restaurants. It's less than a 5-minute walk from Munich Central Train Station (we arrived by train from Munich Airport). The apartment is very well equipped for our everyday needs, warm, spacious, and comfortable. Faisal at the Reception was very helpful, prompt, and efficient. We will definitely recommend ARABEST Aparthotel when visiting Munich.
A little gem at just a few minutes walk from the Münich city centre. Our room was very small, but its charm completely made up for that. Breakfast in the romantic court yard is a great start of the day. If you don’t feel like going into town for dinner, there is a cosy little square at 50 meters from the hotel, with a couple of cosy restaurants for outdoor dining and drinks. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful.
We stayed in the hotel during the Oktoberfest season and it was one of the cheapest hotels available that is a ride away from Munich. The room was nice and clean with ample space for our stuff. The staff were nice and spoke English. Since it was too early for our check-in when we arrived, we left our luggage in the lobby and it was safe. It was also a few minutes walk from the train station. The wi-fi was great too.
So pleased we chose this hotel. We have stayed in Munich many times. And this is by far the best hotel. The location is perfect. You are 5 minutes walk from Marienplatz and 30 minutes from the English garden. Lovely staff and delicious breakfast. The bar is very chilled. Excellent drink choice. Very reasonable prices. Suggest you upgrade to king room. Not too much more and worth it for the extra space.
Excellent understanding of what a city break tourist needs to spend few days in sufficient comfort. Clean, spacious room with en-suite bathroom. A perfect breakfast suiting everybody’s tastes. Round a clock access to good coffee or tea included. Soft drinks mini bar included. And a minute walk to the heart of the city centre. Once in Munich again, definitely would stay in this hotel.
Our stay at Classik Hotel Martinshof was good; the rooms were decorated in a classic Bavarian style which was cozy. The beds were comfortable for two people. Check-in and out was smooth; no issues and the front desk staff was very nice. It was only about a ten minute walk to the Riem train station which is really well connected to both Munich city center and Dachau.
Really big room, with huge bed and balcony.
Bathroom was clean and shower had enough space.
Location is very good and quiet - metro line is right next to the hotel and you could get to city center in 10 mins max.
There is also a nice bar, with terrace.
I highly recommend this hotel and we will stay here again if we'll come in Munich again.
My sister and I had a wonderful experience at Bayer's City Hotel. The staff was delightful, eager to help us with everything we needed and very friendly!
It is located close to the city centre and the central station.
Our room was lovely, very clean, and comfortable.
I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Munich.
Everything was amazing! The location is very convenient, just in front of a tram stop that takes you straight to the city centre in 15 minutes. The staff at the hotel is very friendly, and the room was super spacious with an amazing view of Munich. The room was super clean, huge windows and the toilet even had heated floors!
The apartment was very functional, it had a small but exceptionally furnished kitchen, TV with chrome casting (forst time ever I used the TV in a hotel), breakfast is a bit on the expensive side, but with many options. The property itself is both close to the city centre and Hauptbahnhof and trains to the airport.
The King room was superb. Best beds I had all holiday. Staff was very helpful. Hotel is not located in the city center which helps when its just a sleep-over. I suppose this is a downside when you don't have a car and are visiting Munich.
It was in an excellent location - close to transport to city centre and ideally located close to the Olympia park and stadium where we were attending a concert. The hotel has easy access by U-Bahn and then S Bahn to Munich airport.
Clean & very quiet room with very friendly front desk staff. Hotel is close to Munich station and around a 25 minute walk to the old city centre. Great base for exploring Bavaria by train.
Very good hotel and cheaper around city centre
I had to check out 11 morning to asked the guy im reception let me stay more hours i will pay he say seat and don’t pay and very friendly
it was conveniently located to the Munich city center. The hotel was extremely clean, great restaurant, accommodating and friendly staff, great facility. highly recommend!
Perfect hotel for business travel or a quick trip to Munich. Location is south if you want to spend time in city centre, but it was clean, affordable and very efficient
