Parts of Biddeford were lively and busy with independent shops and eateries. The Bread Cafe was excellent. The staff were very attentive and engaging. We didn’t eat there as we had already eaten a large breakfast but the Rock Buns looked amazing and were very popular with other customers. However, there was also an area that looked a little rundown and in need of some tlc. A sign of the times sadly.

My accommodation was five miles or so from Bideford, in the countryside. Bideford offers shopping and eating opportunities and is a pleasant town. Not a place to spend all your time but, a good base from which to explore N. Devon.

We went in the winter which limited us a little but that's no criticism of the town or area, of course. Lots of tourist facilities. LOADS of activities and nearby beaches/estuaries. Shops open everywhere despite it being March and cold and wet.
It's a lovely place to visit for holiday/break/activities. Perhaps a tiny bit old fashioned but that added to the charm and if you needed tech it was there, just not so much in your face as at home.
Just the right atmosphere for family and/or romance.
Loveliest views & stunning landscapes offering endless walking/hiking/biking/watersports.

Superb fish & chips at Mr Chips and amazing Chinese food for takeaway at Mr Ho, loads of great restaurants and takeaways to choose from.
All large supermarkets available and the shopping area by Asda is worth a look.
Lot's of great charity shops but very uphill walk which is not really user friendly for anyone using crutches or walking stick, best to get droped off at the top and take it steady back down to the river front.

Friendly town with good places for the family to dine and rest. Ample areas to stroll around the town with waterfront and parks. Shopping is adequate and supermarkets allow for self-dining if required. Affordable restaurants and welcoming staff everywhere we visited.

The location was so central to everything.
The location was so central to everything. Albeit in the sticks. Biddeford is very pretty. The surrounded pubs are wonderful. Nothing is too far away
We went to Victoria park. Great on a warm day for kids
Clovelly was beautiful and a lovely experience
The thatched in pub was fab
Westward ho! Beach and the waterfront inn is a must
Louise took care to get the caravan ready for us before our stay. She was friendly and kindly allowed us to check in early. The check out time was also good. The caravan was generally well equipped, clean and the double bed was very comfortable. She left tea/coffee, biscuits and other sweet treats which the children especially loved. The books and games were also great. The area is lovely and if you’re happy to have a bit of a hike back up the hill, there’s a beautiful walk through woodland down to the sea.
The location was excellent. Great views of Bideford town and bridge. Very easy to walk into town and also onto the Tarka Trail and a couple of miles from Instow. The hosts were lovely and very helpful, quickly sorting out a couple of glitches with the bedlinen and TV remote not working. The house was perfect for our group of 4. Very warm and plenty of hot water. Convenient private parking space in the pub car park a couple of minutes walk from the house.
This place has a nice verandah with a table and 8 chairs! Also two sofas and a comfy chair! There is a lovely view of Bideford Bay! The fan heaters are very good, we found out because it was cold a couple of evenings. The beds were comfortable. We had to strip them on departure, we think, from memory, because the instructions were on the laptop in email but there is no Wifi! So not much point sending in email.
Superb location everything in the town was walking distance, we were in Bideford for a party at the football ground which was literally a minute walk away
Steve & Mel were very friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble, we really enjoyed the cooked breakfast , although there were plenty of other options , the room was great, the en-suite looked new and the shower was enormous
The hotel is in a lovely location, easy walk into Bideford. Bideford itself isn’t the prettiest sea side town in Devon and the pubs made us feel very uncomfortable with drunk locals. The hotel staff are really friendly and helpful. The room itself is comfortable enough, quite small rooms and I need of some TLC. Parking is easy and opposite the property.
The landlady is very friendly and seems eager to help with anything. Room is functional with everything needed for an overnight stay. Home cooked breakfast was very nice and perfect to start the day. Location is good with only a 10-15 minute walk into the town centre where there are plenty of takeaways and a pleasant wetherspoons.
The location is perfect, very close to many brilliant locations in North Devon.
The apartment is very spacious and clean. It has everything you could need - including tea and coffee facilities.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful also.
The area is very quiet and peaceful, a real change from London!
I stayed for one night before getting the boat to Lundy. The hotel is in a very convenient location a few minutes' walk from the quay where the boat leaves, close to a bus stop and the shops in Bideford. It was perfect for one night - clean and comfortable, with fast wifi and efficient and friendly check-in.
Everything was total perfection in the perfect setting...the views and sunset is amazing . The fresh eggs and bread were very thoughtful and bed and pillows were so very comfortable ....
A little bit of heaven on earth and perfect base to explore north Devon x
A great place to stay, ideal for exploring the north Devon coast. Nice and quiet with great views across the country side. Easy access to local facilities in Bideford, only a couple of miles away. A welcoming cream tea is provided which was a nice touch.
The hotel was wonderful.. Great location for access by car or walking to Bideford, Appledore and Westward Ho!
We had room 153 with the 4 poster bed and jacuzzi bath. This was a large very stylish comfortable room with a double aspect view.. very good
Easy to access. Outdoor and indoor pool were great for kids. Good location in North Devon, 20 mins drive to Bideford / Westward Ho. The apartment was nice and comfortable. My daughter loved the reclining sofa!
Really helpful, friendly hosts and comfortable cottage in an excellent location to explore Bideford , Tarka Trail and north Devon. Hockings ice cream in Bideford is excellent!
The host contacted straight away giving process for gaining access to the property .location was perfect will definitely be staying again when we're in the area .
Absolutely fantastic, everything you needed was available, it was clean and tidy and in a very nice area. The owners although we rarely saw them were lovely.
