Parts of Biddeford were lively and busy with independent shops and eateries. The Bread Cafe was excellent. The staff were very attentive and engaging. We didn’t eat there as we had already eaten a large breakfast but the Rock Buns looked amazing and were very popular with other customers. However, there was also an area that looked a little rundown and in need of some tlc. A sign of the times sadly.

My accommodation was five miles or so from Bideford, in the countryside. Bideford offers shopping and eating opportunities and is a pleasant town. Not a place to spend all your time but, a good base from which to explore N. Devon.

We went in the winter which limited us a little but that's no criticism of the town or area, of course. Lots of tourist facilities. LOADS of activities and nearby beaches/estuaries. Shops open everywhere despite it being March and cold and wet.
It's a lovely place to visit for holiday/break/activities. Perhaps a tiny bit old fashioned but that added to the charm and if you needed tech it was there, just not so much in your face as at home.
Just the right atmosphere for family and/or romance.
Loveliest views & stunning landscapes offering endless walking/hiking/biking/watersports.

Superb fish & chips at Mr Chips and amazing Chinese food for takeaway at Mr Ho, loads of great restaurants and takeaways to choose from.
All large supermarkets available and the shopping area by Asda is worth a look.
Lot's of great charity shops but very uphill walk which is not really user friendly for anyone using crutches or walking stick, best to get droped off at the top and take it steady back down to the river front.

Friendly town with good places for the family to dine and rest. Ample areas to stroll around the town with waterfront and parks. Shopping is adequate and supermarkets allow for self-dining if required. Affordable restaurants and welcoming staff everywhere we visited.

The location was so central to everything.
The location was so central to everything. Albeit in the sticks. Biddeford is very pretty. The surrounded pubs are wonderful. Nothing is too far away
We went to Victoria park. Great on a warm day for kids
Clovelly was beautiful and a lovely experience
The thatched in pub was fab
Westward ho! Beach and the waterfront inn is a must
Brend Hotels are lovely. This is our second visit to the Royal and we have been annual visitors for over a decade to another in the group. The Royal is a splendid old building which has adapted and expanded over the generations and which oozes centuries of historical associations with the travel and the trade of Bideford. I think most guests miss this unless they ask about it. For instance, how many hotels have a dedicated entrance from a (now disused) railway station platform? That railway is now the Tarka Trail.
Great location in Central Bideford. Steve the owner was very welcoming and friendly. I was able to drop off a rucksack earlier than expected. The breakfast was excellent. I was travelling with my dog and Steve made it easy for me during the stay, even arranging a meeting with his dog. Good location for walking sections of the SWCP too, as I was. All in all, a great place to stay. I would recommend it to others.
The mount hotel was a gorgeous property in a idyllic setting close to the town of Bideford, the hotel management were friendly and very welcoming, they took their time in the morning to speak to anyone who was using their facilities, the bedrooms were comfortable and clean very high standards, I would definitely say it was a place I would visit again
The doggy welcome pack in the room (bed, blanket and treats) was a lovely surprise. Staff were as helpful as they could be given hotel policies. The outdoor pool and sitting area were very pleasant.
My salad for dinner was good and as requested without dressing. Great that I was able to take the dog into the bar-restaurant while I ate.
The landlady is very friendly and seems eager to help with anything. Room is functional with everything needed for an overnight stay. Home cooked breakfast was very nice and perfect to start the day. Location is good with only a 10-15 minute walk into the town centre where there are plenty of takeaways and a pleasant wetherspoons.
The location is perfect, very close to many brilliant locations in North Devon.
The apartment is very spacious and clean. It has everything you could need - including tea and coffee facilities.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful also.
The area is very quiet and peaceful, a real change from London!
Fabulous area of North Devon. The Hoops inn is fabulous, the owner and the staff work as a great team. I have travelled to all parts of the world and have stayed in very luxurious hotels but The Hoops inn is homely with a great management and staff, we were treated very special not just numbers.
I traveled to Lundy so I just needed to stay somewhere the night before the early sailing the following morning. Beautiful location a short walk to an amazing sea view and a short drive to Bideford. The host was very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay. Thank you
The house is in a lovely, peaceful location near to the coast and Bideford. Everything was very clean and all the appliances worked. Beds and sofas were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. Rooms were spacious and the bathrooms were very stylish.
Everything was total perfection in the perfect setting...the views and sunset is amazing . The fresh eggs and bread were very thoughtful and bed and pillows were so very comfortable ....
A little bit of heaven on earth and perfect base to explore north Devon x
A great place to stay, ideal for exploring the north Devon coast. Nice and quiet with great views across the country side. Easy access to local facilities in Bideford, only a couple of miles away. A welcoming cream tea is provided which was a nice touch.
Lovely view, nice little kitchen, cheapest stay we could find in Bideford for 4 people. Beautiful location. Luckily extra duvets and pillows. Appreciated the dining table.
Nice touch with the dressing gowns.
Lovely room and decor.
Plenty of parking and the property is about 10 mins drive from Bideford.
Good recommendations for eateries.
The host contacted straight away giving process for gaining access to the property .location was perfect will definitely be staying again when we're in the area .
Absolutely fantastic, everything you needed was available, it was clean and tidy and in a very nice area. The owners although we rarely saw them were lovely.
An excellent, spacious bolthole. Perfectly located for what we needed (a family party in Bideford). Peaceful and lovely views. Clean and well thought out.
