I loved the location of the hotel. The view from the Buchanan room was absolutely beautiful and the bed was comfortable. The bathrobes were a nice touch! The food & service at breakfast and dinner was excellent as well.

Nice quiet area, not good when it’s raining nothing to do but walk or go to the pub! Limited shopping which was closed, food and drink quite pricey in the pub The Crown was best but busy. Nice independent coffee shop on Main Street. Pottery closed Mon and Tuesday, when we were there Boardwalk was also closed so no ice cream.

The staff were brilliant and always willing to go that extra mile. We asked for an upgrade and it was sorted in minutes. Gavin at reception was exceptional. The breakfast was a choice of continental or full Scottish. We chose the full Scottish and everything was cooked to perfect. Coffee/tea, apple juice and orange juice were available too. Everything served with a chat and a smile.
Dinner can be purchased at £20 per person per day at time of writing.
Our room was a twin and very spacious looking over Port Patrick harbour. You will be blown away..!! The room was warm and clean with tea/coffee making facilities that included Scottish shortbread. It also boasted, iron board and iron, hair dryer, TV with a good mix of channels, suitcase rack and a very handy book on things to do and see in the local area.
The bathroom was also very clean with toiletries in abundance. The shower was strong and easy to use.
The hotel has well stocked bar, bottled and draught also local beer and spirits with reasonable prices, also a poolroom/TV room with games like chess, draughts etc.
Outside the hotel there’s lots of paths for walking with breathtaking views and if your really brave you can walk down the many steps to the harbour area where you will find tennis courts, bowling green, pitch and putt and many other facilities.
A great place to stay if you fancy some fishing either from the harbour or rocks, or there’s many local lochs for trout, pike, perch, etc.
The hotel even let us store our bait in a freezer.
All in all, a very welcoming hotel at very reasonable prices.
Try it, you won’t be disappointed..!!!

We arrived early evening and left about 9.30 the next morning so did not see anything of the place. It was cold, wet, windy and with waves crashing on the rocks and so was not conducive to exploring in what was left of the daylight. In any event, we were only there for one night before moving on.
So dissapointed. We had booked this hotel for our wedding annniversary and had travelled from Edinburgh to stay the night. It was in darkness on our arrival and a note on the door to say to check in we had to go to the Harbour House. We where never informed that the hotel was closed even though payment for it had been taken from our account. we where offered a room in the Harbour House but choses not to stay, instead we booked into a different hotel in Portpatrick which luckily had a room spare.
What a view!
The hotel was spotlessly clean, cosy and the bar was lively and full of character on a Saturday afternoon.
A gorgeous fire that kept the cold at door.
The staff are some of the most helpful and welcoming we have experienced.
We had dinner at the hotel and enjoyed everything.
Reasonably priced and best of produce.
Breakfast is plentiful and offers something for everyone.
We will certainly return in the future.
Absolutely delighted with our stay.
I've been staying in portpatrick for 10,+ this was the worst I thought I would stay in the hotel o booked I got put in a cottage up the road which was although quaint was not good the room was 2singles put together was so uncomfortable the ensuite was in the wardrobe you actually couldn't move init the only positive was the breakfast was good
Very beautiful and picturesque location. The hotel itself is a lovely building overlooking Portpatrick. Breakfast exceeded expectation with a perfect cooked breakfast and continental offering. Staff were very accommodating of my dog and took a genuine interest in our experience which they made extremely pleasant and relaxing.
Fantastic location overlooking beautiful Portpatrick, spacious clean room that looked to have been recently decorated.
Very nice period hotel with many original features and a lift to all floors.
Good disabled parking adjacent to the hotel entrance.
Excellent staff, very friendly and helpful.
This hotel has the most amazing vista to both the port and the sea. Just a short walk to the harbour. The restaurant is fantastic as are all the staff. I have been coming to this hotel for over 5 years and always live every minute of it. “come as a guest, leave as a friend”
lawys visit portpatrick once a year at some point , love this plce if we can get booked in if not we stay at mount stewart hotel, love the self catering at apartment 19 stayed her twice now and hotel 5 times never dissapointed
The Crown in Portpatrick is in a perfect location on the sea front in a beautiful village. The staff were very welcoming and looked after us the whole time we were there. Can not recommend the crown hotel highly enough.
Spacious accommodation, ideal for larger groups. Peaceful location, close to Portpatrick. Lovely bedrooms, good space for sitting and dining. Loads of parking spaces. Really lovely house would happily recommend.
Lovely hotel have stayed there a few times. No problem with parking, only 30 minutes from ferry terminal. Dog friendly. The restaurant food is very good
for evening meal and breakfast.
the hotel has got to be the best in portpatrick! location was on a bit of a hill which was perfect for views over the bay’ it’s exceptionally clean and has class!
We will return to Portpatrick but will stay in a different hotel...plenty of other options that are in much better condition than the Harbour House Hotel!
Location and views are superb. Hotel is a little quaint (dated) but lends to the overall atmosphere. Food was great as were the very professional staff.
