The room was very comfortable. Very clean, tea and toast was supplied for breakfast which was way above expectations. There was even a usb charger beside the bed, which was a nice touch.

Lovely Hotel, 400 years old and lots of character, very friendly, regular bus service to Lockerbie, Annan, Gretna and Carlisle. We had a great adventure. Hotel was very friendly and we loved our stay. The food was good pub grub and the hotel was lovely as was the room. We had a beautiful on suite. A big comfy bed. Absolutely no complaints at all and we shall go back. Thank you Mary and our lovely barmaid Karen. Nothing was too much trouble.

We were welcomed as soon as we arrived by Ste who was more than helpful during our stay. The landlady made a point of coming to sit near us during the evening and we had a nice conversation not only with her but a local gentleman called Ben who we had a few drinks with. The barmaid was really good and although the place was busy she didn't drop a stitch. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again on the next trip to Scotland.

This hotel was a real home from home.
This hotel was a real home from home.
Each room was full of fascinating historical artefacts and the owner was keen to tell us about the history of the building.
There are open fires and cosy sitting rooms to enjoy.
The welcome was very warm.
Very friendly staff in this old-style family hotel. Although the hotel was almost full that did not prevent efficiency or have the staff behave in a harassed way. The hotekl has its own parking to the rear, but parking on the street is easy and safe in every way. A good breakfast.
We liked the location and the proximity to the hotel where we had dinner on the first night. We liked the size of all the rooms especially the bedrooms. The bedding and towels were spotless as were all the dishes in the kitchen.
The staff were warm, friendly and helpful.
The room very clean comfortable and well equipped.
The home-made food was delicious, good value and plentiful.
The old house where the hotel is based is grand and full of character.
The staff were very friendly. Hotel and facilities very good and the food was exceptional…on my last day I overslept and went past breakfast time but I was still offered a pot of coffee and a bacon sandwich to go with it
It was a beautiful old house. It's like stepping back in time, and we loved it. The man who was running the hotel was really friendly and helpful. A nice breakfast, too. Spotlessly clean and beautiful white bedding.
Good sized room. Comfortable bed. Good breakfast and nice dinner the previous evening. The Ecclefechan Tart was delicious! The inscriptions in Latin on the lintels above the room windows were a nice touch.
To stay in this building is like to go back in time, it's a very nice traditional Scottish hotel, with nice personnel, good food in the pub/restaurant and great breakfast :)
Spent 1 night and the room was really clean with all details in place. Bit of fresh milk, different types of coffee, warm and same level of a hotel, but smaller.
