The extensively-refurbished Bridge House Hotel is set in Grasmere, directly across from St Oswalds Church and the graveyard where William Wordsworth rests. Had a lovely stay even though the hotel was full it felt very peaceful.

Once visited by Oliver Cromwell and Henry VI, parts of Irton Hall date back to the 14th century. Beautiful, unique, great staff, excellent food.
