Located in Cardiff city centre, Cathedral 73 is a Victorian townhouse with a funky, fresh and fashionable design.
Score from 6 reviews Exceptional
A short walk from Cardiff city centre, these modern apartments are close to the Mermaid Quay Restaurant Quarter and offer free use of the on-site gym, pool and conference suite.
Score from 235 reviews Very good
Dating back to 1180, this hotel was originally a Cistercian monastery. It has a fantastic à la carte restaurant, and is situated in secluded grounds in the historic town of Caerleon, on the River Usk....
Score from 266 reviews Very good
With a pool, gym and free Wi-Fi, this hotel is set in the Rhondda Valley, 300 metres from Rhondda Heritage Park. It has a bar and good restaurant serving traditional cuisine.
Score from 287 reviews Good
Staff very friendly and helpful Deal included half board and was excellent value for money especially as the Restaurant was excellent. Evening meal & breakfast both very good and I would go there for a meal alone.
Bathroom shower poor and a very dirty seal clearly visable under bath taps which could easily be replaced. Also the bedroom radiator is full of dust and needs a blast from a steam cleaner. Despite this I would stay here again and felt it was very good value for money.
The gardens were beautiful and the rooms large and very clean. Lovely breakfast and friendly staff.
Difficult to find or to describe to others we were to meet other family and friends there and the lack of detail about the address or nearby landmarks made this difficult.
Pet friendly Accommodating staff Fair value for money Warm swimming pool Good breakfast
Needs renovation. Steam room seats all cracked. Single glazed windows so was woken by other returning guests. Peeling paint. Noisy pipes after flushing loo etc
Lovely setting, obviously a grand building in need of a little tlc. The swimming pool and breakfast was lovely, the family room was nice, we would definitely stay again
It needs some money spent on the roof as there seemed to be a few leeks if it rained, dodging ice cream tubs to breakfast was interesting.
Welcoming staff. Lovely breakfast.
hotel could do with some TLC. Rooms are tired and dated and the bed was very uncomfortable. No water in the room.
Pool, breakfast, staff and room size.
Looking a bit dated outside.
The swimming pool,Jacuzzi and sauna was excellent . Staff were polite. Grounds on which main hotel were in were beautiful.
It was a chalet room away from main building which wasn't a problem but The room had seen better days. Our clothes felt damp in the morning!! The phone didn't work in the chalet, had to be changed. There was damp patches on wall and mould on window sills. Hairdryer cut out every thirty seconds. Breakfast was in a makeshift room because of renovations to main building, so items were laid out on the bar, these ran out continuously and I had to ask twice for top ups....in the end we gave up. First time ever I've had a bad stay.glad we were only there one night. Wouldn't recommend this hotel.
Location and grounds were lovely. Leisure facilities were ideal for the children.
Hotel main building was very dated and needs total refurbishment. Ceiling collapsed in one of the main rooms during our stay. We were staying in a chalet type outside the main building the outside of which looks very grotty and needs painting, bathroom vent was broken, once inside the room was clean but very dated and needs modernising.
The building & gardens
The cleanliness & shabbiness
Room had some mould on wall in corners and water pipes were very loud when taps in use. When booking the hotel should state your not booked to stay in main hotel which is of better quality
the setting was fab we had a nice time staff very helpful we will be returning
Fawlty Towers in character. 1970/80s decor and fittings. Extremely uncomfortable beds. Shoddy and cold.
Location as it is close to where I had to be. Staff were helpful at reception, I didn't use any facilities. The grounds are lovely.
I have only stayed in a garden room prior to this visit and I was pleased that I was in the main building as repairs were being carried out BUT why does the place look so tired. I couldn't have a bath as the taps didn't work, grouting was disgusting!!!
Rooms, grounds and breakfast
Location. Am told the food is good but didnt eat in during my stay.
Dated, tired decor and furniture in the rooms. Bed not good quality, uncomfortable. cracked paint in bathrooms No WIFI in the rooms. Gym equipment very old and not working properly.
going home !
no Wifi, bad light for reading, smell of carpets and beds,
The expectation.. The fact that we were not charged for our stay, I suppose some hotels might try to charge even though everything is substandard, so we are greatful for that.
Rooms damp, poor facilities were dangerous i.e. slippy floors as the shower put water onto a ceramic tiled floor. General grubbiness and the breakfast could be better.....all below average.
Small room Tired looks
Location to cardiff Surrounding areas, around the hotel. Handy man very polite, and was concerned about our problems.
Staff not knowing what they were doing, no hot water on our first night/ morning. Breakfast service was terrible, promised mushrooms never turned up, the whole place needs a revamp, on a very wet night water leaked down the bedroom wall. No internet outside of reception. When booking out nobody could look us in the eye and ask if we had enjoyed our stay.
Room service was fast . Freindly staff. Facilities were good.
Room service cleaning was very poor. I had to buy my own toiletries as were not replaced. The carpets were not hoovered daily. Table lamps did not work. Beds were not done fully. Jaccuzzi was out of order.
Pool was excellent; breakfast was adequate for price (kids were free).
Beds were uncomfortable; changing facilities at pool needed cleaning / towels & toilet paper on the ground etc. Could be an excellent hotel but needs £ spent.
The gym, swimming pool, bars and food were all very good and we thoroughly enjoyed the facilities. On the upside, once we reported problems with the garden room the hotel moved us straight to the hotel and were most helpful and responsive.
We were in one of the garden rooms with lots of spiders! my daughter has a fear of them and so we asked to move to the hotel.
Staff very helpful. Breakfast really tasty. Location nice and close to Park and Ride, easy to get into Cardiff. Pool and spa very relaxing.
Great value for money for a triple room. Easy access with parking. Very comfortable beds.
Tried to charge us more for breakfast than advertised on booking.com - but staff rectified it quickly when we produced documentation.
