Staff were friendly. Gym was basic but quite functional.
Location. Very difficult to find when dark. There is a sign which is a little misleading and another sign nearer the turn would be useful. Everything about the hotel is shabby and run down. The garden room that we had was reminiscent of an old holiday camp chalet. The drains outside the room were smelly.
New leisure complex looked lovely. Unfortunately due to late arrival we were unable to use it.
Room was a chalet not attached to main hotel. We had no warning of this fact and we arrived in torrential rain. A visit to the bar was major effort. It was rather tired and dated. People close to us had leaking roof which said a lot.
location good for cardiff & Newport. Free parking right outside room
room & bathroom had a very strong smell of cigarette smoke everywhere, despite a card in room saying the whole hotel was non-smoking & a big fine if anyone was caught smoking. I have a Blepharitis eye condition so had major problems with the smokey atmosphere & a nasty headache. The bed was very uncomfortable & worn-out & needed replacing, I specially requested a comfortable bed.The bioler room was right next to our room, the hum & buzz from that kept us awake for most of the night.we have stayed at this hotel on 3 previous occasions many years ago, all the furnishings & fittings are the same, so everything is very worn out & desperately needed a major revamp. They should never be charging £49-50 for such a poor & wornout room.
The staff here were so helpful and couldn't do enough, from the ladies on reception to the chap who worked nights. He just never stopped ! The customer service level was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel
The hotel was slightly dated and could probably do with a " freshen up " but overall great value for money
The setting , and pleasantness and age of property . The warm fires that were very welcoming in both the restaurants and Sitting room . I particularly liked the Spa and Leisure centre . The staff were lovely and made me feel very welcome , and I ran out if time to rest my swim and Pilates class . I enjoyed the Yoga session , and treated myself to a Massage and Facial !! The Hotel was well placed for my Training with Lloyds Bank at the Business Park , 5 mins away only . The good including the brekky and baked Salmon dish was very scrummy ! I will definately return in the future and may bring the kids in a visit to the City !!
Not being able to eat on my first night as the Kitchen was affected by a problem due to treat ceiling coming down !
Phone not working. Wired internet not working. Bedside lamp not working. Something splatted to the side of the headboard. Dirty marks on wall around TV.
Large room with three single beds. The bathroom had a nice bath and was big. It was a ground floor room and could park just outside.
Finding the property at night was difficult. The access road was very narrow with few passing spaces if on coming traffic appeared. Internet didn't work well from our room.
The staff were very friendly and couldnt do enough for us. Very reasonably priced
our stay was to short
Lumpy mattress and crumpled un-ironed bedding. Unable to see out of window as double glazing steamed up. Requested milk but after a long wait had to fetch it myself. Uninterested staff who tried to make us pay for breakfast we had not requested and did not have.
The leisure spa was excellent but the pool area needs to be updated. Old decor and flooring
Bad lighting from chalet to hotel. Quite creepy. They seemed to only give enough lighting within hotel area but not near the chalets. Late night with small children would be scary
Good accommodation and superb food in their a la carte restaurant. Clean, comfortable rooms and a well equipped leisure centre and spa.
Blink and you will miss the signs on the main road.
Staff very friendly and helpful Deal included half board and was excellent value for money especially as the Restaurant was excellent. Evening meal & breakfast both very good and I would go there for a meal alone.
Bathroom shower poor and a very dirty seal clearly visable under bath taps which could easily be replaced. Also the bedroom radiator is full of dust and needs a blast from a steam cleaner. Despite this I would stay here again and felt it was very good value for money.
The gardens were beautiful and the rooms large and very clean. Lovely breakfast and friendly staff.
Difficult to find or to describe to others we were to meet other family and friends there and the lack of detail about the address or nearby landmarks made this difficult.
Pet friendly Accommodating staff Fair value for money Warm swimming pool Good breakfast
Needs renovation. Steam room seats all cracked. Single glazed windows so was woken by other returning guests. Peeling paint. Noisy pipes after flushing loo etc
location is beautiful
Lovely setting, obviously a grand building in need of a little tlc. The swimming pool and breakfast was lovely, the family room was nice, we would definitely stay again
It needs some money spent on the roof as there seemed to be a few leeks if it rained, dodging ice cream tubs to breakfast was interesting.
Welcoming staff. Lovely breakfast.
hotel could do with some TLC. Rooms are tired and dated and the bed was very uncomfortable. No water in the room.
Pool, breakfast, staff and room size.
Looking a bit dated outside.
The swimming pool,Jacuzzi and sauna was excellent . Staff were polite. Grounds on which main hotel were in were beautiful.
It was a chalet room away from main building which wasn't a problem but The room had seen better days. Our clothes felt damp in the morning!! The phone didn't work in the chalet, had to be changed. There was damp patches on wall and mould on window sills. Hairdryer cut out every thirty seconds. Breakfast was in a makeshift room because of renovations to main building, so items were laid out on the bar, these ran out continuously and I had to ask twice for top ups....in the end we gave up. First time ever I've had a bad stay.glad we were only there one night. Wouldn't recommend this hotel.
Food was nice Reception staff very helpful.
The hotel raised the cost of the room for the Saturday due to a wedding. The night before was £80 cheaper. The bar man was very rude and every thing was too much trouble.. Stayed in the family accommodation that's are located outside of hotel, shabby bathroom suites.
This was the venue for my daughters wedding reception. We stayed for 2 nights and everything about it was good. Our room was spacious and clean. We had food on the friday night which was lovely and the wedding reception meal was equally lovely.
Room rates......for a wedding party I think the hotel should have offfered better prices.
Location and grounds were lovely. Leisure facilities were ideal for the children.
Hotel main building was very dated and needs total refurbishment. Ceiling collapsed in one of the main rooms during our stay. We were staying in a chalet type outside the main building the outside of which looks very grotty and needs painting, bathroom vent was broken, once inside the room was clean but very dated and needs modernising.
The building & gardens
The cleanliness & shabbiness
Room had some mould on wall in corners and water pipes were very loud when taps in use. When booking the hotel should state your not booked to stay in main hotel which is of better quality
the setting was fab we had a nice time staff very helpful we will be returning
