We loved the Black Swan! The service was outstanding. I travelled every week for work before covid and I have seldom had better service anywhere in the world I've been. Definitely the best service I've had in any hotel in the UK. I have mobility issues and while the Swan has no lift the staff couldn't do enough to help with bags etc., Good free parking behind the pub with plenty of parking spots. Breakfast was very good, best I've had in a while. The only drawback was dinner was not as good as the breakfast. Bar staff are very friendly. Lots of locals come in so you know it's good. The location is perfect with a short walk to any shops and to Pickering station (NYMR). We plan on coming back later in the year.

Beautiful location overlooking the dales, breakfast was beautifully cooked. The staff were exceptionally accommodating to the needs of my elderly mother, and dietary requirements of my wife, couldn’t have done more.
Ideally located for exploring Ryedale and the North Yorkshire Moors, the hotel is located in an area of natural beauty, between the traditional market towns of Pickering and Malton.

The location and parking were excellent - the NYMR Pickering Station is just 5 minutes walk away. The breakfast was served in the conservatory and was virtuously faithful to the positive reviews (enormous tea pots a hit). The rooms were spacious and clean - they'd actually been redecorated just weeks before our stay. Staff all friendly and knowledgeable. An experience at a good price. It's just how a small hotel should be run.

Lovely old pub in a very pretty quiet village. Staff could not have been more helpful. Room was very comfortable with a lovely private sitting area outside. Food was consistently good.

The house was ideally located for us as we spent the weekend visiting the North Yorkshire Moors Railway which was within walking distance. The house was spotless, homely and welcoming. It was particularly nice to find a small selection of goodies in the kitchen on our arrival. The hosts had left a welcome folder with lots of clear and concise instructions about the property and local recommendations for sight seeing and eating.

Great Location in a Beautiful village, a bit short of choices for quality food in the area. The White Swann pub was not the best by far, closed Monday and Tuesday, no food served Wednesday, we were looking forward to eating there in the evenings, we went once and that was enough, the food itself was a good treat, very nicely cooked and beautifully presented, we even got to speak to the cook who is a really lovely person and she made up in some way for the fact that it was a bit sad that the owners of the pub could not be bothered to either have the log fire on, there was no music, or even candles lit. This made for quite a cold feel in terms of ambience and actual heat of the building
