The warm welcome. Excellent breakfast with local produce and newly laid eggs. The historical aspects of the building and the love and care taken in their preservation was a credit to our host. A knowledgeable and interesting host full of information on many subjects made it a special visit. Wish our stay could have been longer and would love to return again in the future.

Sudbury is a very compact town full of interesting architectural features in the centre. It's easy to walk about, although the traffic is constant and fast, so caution is needed when crossing any roads. The tourist information is easy to find and contains a lot of very helpful leaflets about things to do in and around Sudbury.

We only stayed for one night but know Sudbury because of past visits. It is a small but pleasant town with nice walks across the water meadows. But it has a great deal of traffic as it is a main route for a number of other destinations eg Bury St Edmunds, Chelmsford.

Not a great deal to offer in Sudbury but the Gainsborough...
Not a great deal to offer in Sudbury but the Gainsborough museum and galleries and cafe with garden were a must if you are interested in art. It has a new wing and is spread over different buildings in the main street from the Mill hotel and is very informative with a lovely receptionist. The food in the cafe is good although we only had a snack this time. Not a lot of restaurants open in the evening so resorted to eating back at the hotel which is also worth a visit as they have a working Mill in the restaurant and bar area. Also behind the hotel is a very good walk through the meadows with the occasional bridge and cows roam freely and even saw them drinking in the shallow part of the river.SheilaUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10
Gainsborough's House was excellent.
Gainsborough's House was excellent. The walks from the hotel across the meadows and along the old railway line were lovely The town itself was full of lovely buildings and more shops than most small towns these days. Only a short and easy walk from the hotelAAnonymous - 10Scored 10

Sudbury is a lovely little town, which has quaint features...
Sudbury is a lovely little town, which has quaint features but is also very much thriving. There is a market twice a week and a local farmers market regularly. The Tourist Information is really helpful; advice on the walks around the town and further afield. The river is still a feature. The countryside is beautiful. The Quay theatre is a gem, with a good and varied "menu". Live music of different genres is available in quite a few of the Pubs. The Church was undergoing renovation while I was there, but it is well worth a visit. History, ancient and modern, is all around you - I think that Vanners, one of the few remaining silk Mills in the country is extant. Food is readily available, but mainly "chains" apart from lots of small cafes. Avoid the Wetherspoons which is ugly.

In an historic part of sudbury but within walking distance to centre and amenities. Road noise but got used to it and cottage inside had a peaceful vibe. Lots of really helpful info on local area and books to read about the arear. Lots of really nice touches and described as luxurious which I thick was a correct description. Everything was well thought out and owner seems to go out of their way to help the holiday makers enjoy their stay.

Directions to the apartment and onsite parking were very helpful and we liked the town of Sudbury. Sadly, because the apartment is situated right on one of the town's main streets, the traffic noise was tremendous. We weren't too bothered when we first arrived, thinking that everything would quieten down by late evening. The Mill has very comfortable beds, a delicious breakfast and the staff are always pleasant. We have always visited in December and they do a wonderful job with the Christmas decorations, so it has a festive atmosphere. Sudbury town also has wonderful lights, some brilliant restaurants and cozy pubs. We're already looking forward to visit number 4 next year!
