FAQs about hotels in Athens

Dynamic City With 3400 Years of History

With the Acropolis as the jewel in the archaeological crown of Athens, this city is full of history while embracing the future. Take a stroll back in time through the neoclassical streets of the Plaka, where you'll find tavernas serving tantalizing souvlaki and mousaka, street vendors and live entertainment.

A trip to the Parthenon and the Agora top most lists and can also be appreciated from a distance by walking along the Dionysiou Aeropagitou street, which is away from the busy crowds of the city center.

The changing of the guard occurs every hour on the famous Syntagma Square. From here, Ermou Street provides shopaholics with a fashionable retail sanctuary. The upscale districts Kolonaki and Kifisia are also bursting with fancy boutiques, galleries and bars.

Athens has some of the finest museums in the world, such as the National Archaeological, Acropolis and Benaki Museums. From Athens International Airport to the Port of Piraeus, this is a city bustling with the old and new. On Booking.com you can find everything from modern hotels to a room in a classical building.

Athens is the capital of one of the countries considered to be the cradle of western civilization, enough said! The Acropolis hill, with ancient theatres, the Parthenon temple and the Erekterion temple and its cariatids, alogn with the Acropolis Museum are the highlight of the city. Athens is also rich in amazing archeological sites that are thousands of years old, which are the testimony of the pinnacle of the ancient greek civilization. Great place to be with a lot of sites to visit.

Great place to be with a lot of sites to visit. Really busy with traffic, the metro though is a life saver! You can do everything using the metro and walking in the town center. Ensure you visit the Acropolis and the museum, it is a must see and take a walk in Ermou, a highly commercial street with lots of stores and shops! Visit Plaka and Psyrri for a real insider experience, and look for the odd little restaurant within the little streets that are place within the city center. Taxis are cheap, but use an app like FreeNow or Uber! Don't forget to try the Greek cold coffees, like Frappe and Freddo Capuccino! I would avoid walking around Omonoia square after 10pm and I would definitely have coffee, brunch or any other meal/drink at Atene Athens (not very cheap but worth it), which is right next to the Attica superstore/mall! Kolonaki has all the nicest shops and coffee places too! The City link atrium is also a very nice place to relax and eat as it has several restaurants with various pricing!

Had heard Athens was a rough city, and I did find it run down looking w many empty buildings and tons of graffiti! however there were many pedestrian streets in the old city filled with life and restaurants. Tons of trees! it was super easy to get around and taxis were cheap I used Uber everyday. It was too hot to do the monuments which they actually closed due to heat while I was there but there are SO many great museums here! The food was AWESOME surprisingly so!

I don't even know where to start. We have been all around Greece in great hotels and accommodation but never, never is such a welcoming place as this one. Starting from freshly smelling towels to a level of cleanness i have not seen in a 5 star hotel. Kitchen is fully equipped, outstanding bathroom, and although apartment is not huge it still benefits of 2 air conditioning units which is just a joy. Balcony offers a million star view while drinking a coffe or a glass of wine. If you get close to that location look no further BOOK IT.

Beautiful and comfortable apartment that was perfect for our family of 4. It is homey and quiet. We stayed only one night, but wish we could have stayed longer—sadly it was our last full day in Greece. The location is excellent, in the heart of Plaka —a short walk to the Acropolis and the many other attractions in the area. The individuals who run it are extremely sweet and accommodating. They even let us check in hours early to make sure we were comfortable asap. We will certainly return if ever in Athens again. Highly recommended!

Fantastic location, easy walking to all Athens has to offer! Magnificent view of Acropolis from balcony. Lots of little extras such as wine, ouzo and sunscreen provided. Stelios also provided fantastic communication from the beginning of the booking and organised for John the taxi driver to pick us up from airport for 50€. John gave us wonderful information about Greece, and where to go, and Stelios also provided recommendations… we thoroughly enjoyed our 4 days in Athens and would definitely 😃recommend the apartment.

Our last hotel on our two week trip to mainland Greece. I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Location to Acropolis cannot be beat, friendly staff who provided us with lunch and dinner options. The rooms were small which can be expected for any hotel in a big city but to our surprise both the beds and pillows were super comfortable. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace with a view of the acropolis was a great way to end our trip. Both the sunsets and sunrises watched from the rooftop were spectacular.

Philia Boutique is a very nice and new hotel. Great location very close to Syntagma square and some of the best dining spots in Athens. Good quality breakfast that you can choose to have served on your balcony, patio or in the lobby. Comfortable room with great amenities and nice balcony overlooking the church. At the time we visited the hotel there were ongoing noisy construction works right in front of the hotel but the rooms are well soundproofed so it didn't bother us at all.
