Mary and Gerry are wonderful hosts - Mary made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in the door. I had stayed there before with my family and was happy to make a return visit with friends. The location is perfect for exploring Connemara as well as for visiting Galway. The village of Oughterard is charming and within walking distance of the B&B if you wanted to leave the car behind for the night and go into town for dinner or a drink at the local pub, The Thatch. Mary is happy to make suggestions for trips around the area and her recommendations are always spot on!

The place was very clean and spacious, and had everything we needed! Eileen was also the best hostess, very caring and accommodating. She even left yummy treats for the night and morning. We would absolutely stay there again!

Restaurant was fantastic great environment for a true Irish country experience
This was a great place to explore the surrounding areas.
This was a great place to explore the surrounding areas. It also has a castle in the area and an association with the film The Quiet Man. It is a friendly town with 2 supermarkets and a number of places to eat.

A cute small town with nice restaurants and cafes.
A cute small town with nice restaurants and cafes. A few nice shops. Nice place to stay I'd you're traveling around Connemara. It's about and hour to Kylemore Abby as well as to the ferry or airport that gets you to the Aran Islands. Definitely work a stop if you have some time. Powers is a wonderful pub and restaurant.

Good base for touring Connemara and Mayo. No meals in Hotel. We ate our evening meal at pub/restaurant across road from Hotel. I can't remember name but it had a thatched roof and food was excellent.

It is a small town with a village atmosphere.
It is a small town with a village atmosphere. It's not far from Galway city centre and as hotels can be pricey in the city I would strongly suggest travellers take a look at this as an alternative. The town is filled with pubs and eateries and places to stay. I stayed at the Connemara Lake Hotel, right in the centre of the town and rate it highly. As a solo traveller I found the area friendly and welcoming. There is a small castle nearby which is worth a quick look, but the Glengowla Mines four kilometres away on the road to Clifden is a treat. Really interesting and the scenery out towards the coastal town of Clifden is beautiful. A lovely part of the world.
Breakfast was excellent. Once acclimated the location proved excellent.. A comfortable drive to Kylemore Abbey and Ashford Castle. A nice and affordable golf course nearby and and a beautiful lake for boating and fishing just down the street. Also a boxing club and football club in town. The town of Oughterard had a few nice Pub's and a grocery that was well stocked. Our host Christian was great and his new puppy Emily couldn't be more adorable
We stayed here for one week as we explored County Galway. The house is centrally located, so it was easy to get everywhere we wanted to go within one hour. Mary and Gerry are fantastic hosts and made us feel right at home. Mary gave us great suggestions of things to do and places to eat in the area. Each morning we had a hot breakfast prepared to order. We wanted a local Irish place to stay, and that is exactly what we got!
Oughterard is a cute village with lovely people. There was shopping, restaurants, nice walks, and transportation very close by. The owner of the place is very welcoming, accommodating, and cheerful. He went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. I traveled between Oughterard and Galway during my stay and enjoyed both places. The wi-fi was good enough to use while I was working.
Great place to stay , the rooms are very well maintained , spacey , with all the little extra bits you would get in a hotel . The breakfast menu is one of the best I've seen for a guesthouse , lots of choice on offer , and everything served is of high quality . Thank you Patricia for the warm welcome and all the attention towards your guests .
We enjoyed our stay at Camillaun very much. Deidre and Greg are great hosts - freindly and helpful. Excellent breakfast! The location is very convenient - a pleasant, short walk to Oughterard, which is a lovely little town that's a good jumping off point for exploring Connemara and Galway. House has a fantastic snooker table too!
Gerry and Mary were fantastic hosts. The location was in excellent proximity to Galway, and the Conemara area and within walking distance to Oughterard for some nice pubs and food. The breakfast was great and the place was quiet, and the beds were comfy. I would DEFINITELY stay here again, and hope to someday soon.
What a lovely stay in a lovely town! The Connemara Lake Hotel staff was welcoming, friendly, and accommodating at every turn. Breakfast was ample and delicious. Rooms were tidy and spacious for our family of 4, with everything we needed to suit our needs. We would definitely stay here again. 100% recommend.
The hostess was delightful. Breakfast was excellent; plus it was an actual home-made breakfast. The area around the hotel is residential and nice to walk through. Plus the village next door was an excellent surprise: if it hadn't been for this hotel we wouldn't have stopped in Oughterard.
The location was convenient. The room and bathroom was a good size. The breakfast was good but served in the bar. No evening meals available mid week, although there are a good choice of restaurants in the vicinity. The room was in a quiet part of the hotel so that was a positive
A lovely old hotel, like back in time for all the good reasons. Food was excellent, location delightful and well kept. A lovely stream to walk by. A perfect relax after a busy day. I will be back, Kindest regards Dympna. (Munster Rugby Supporter 😂)
Beautiful setting, a large and very comfortable room with a very comfortable bed, more like a hotel than a b&b. Big double glass doors onto decking with a separate entrance. Friendly helpful owner. Fresh fruit salad with a hearty breakfast.
it's a self-catering facility, regular heating, there is a fridge available to store food, kitchen utensils to cook with, a central location, pizza shop downstairs, parking available at the facility. It's on the high street of Oughterard.
The staff was lovely. The B&B was very easy to find and its just a short 5 min walk from the town Oughterard. It was a nice stay as we were looking for somewhere to stay last minute. Our room included an en suite with a shower.
Delightful friendly and warm hosts, excellent location for touring Connemara, easy to find, adjacent to village of Oughterard with good choice of restaurants - an easy walk. Safe parking on site and excellent facilities.
Patricia really looked after me with lovely breakfasts and great recommendations for dinner in Oughterard. Room was cosy which was needed considering the weather. Sleet and snow in March?!
Very friendly host. Very comfortable room.
I was in Oughterard to run the Connemara marathon. The host had no issue with leaving my car at the house while I ran the race.
Barbara was warm and welcoming. Ever so kind. Very comfortable stay. So close to the lovely town with restaurants and live music. We had a wonderful stay!
