Chiavari itself is not a tourist destination, but it is a very friendly city . It has plenty options for shopping and dining. The location is a perfect intermediate point if you are visiting Cinqueterre for one side, and Santa Margherita and Portofino on the other site. Transportation by train to those places is easy and no expensive. Personnel at the train ticket office speaks fluent English and are very helpful when planning you route.

We stayed in Chiavari cause we didn’t find another appropriate accommodation in Cinque Terre, but I’m so glad it happened this way, because Chiavari is one beautiful small town (but not too small), charming and interesting. In my opinion it is more interesting than Cinque Terre. There are a lot of restaurants, bakeries, different shops, beautiful streets, typical italien architecture, sea side and so on. We stayed for two days there, but I will come again for sure, at least for four days or more. It is close to Portofino and Cinque Terre (in a between), has better parking options, there is also a train station and trains go very often to different destinations. Chiavari is a pretty little place right on the beach.
Chiavari is a pretty little place right on the beach. The town centre is porticoes with lots of nice little restaurants. It gets very crowded and expensive in summer, but off season its a lovely place to visit.
The cemetery up the hill is lovely and the centre of town has a nice antiques market one sunday a month. There is a bit of art deco architecture.

Chiavari is a perfect choice if you want to visit around Cinque Terre and Portofino. The prices are great compared to other cities and is very easy to get from Chiavari to visit them by train. We managed to visit everything we had on the list: Cinque Terre, Portofino, San Frutuosso, Genoa, S. Margherita etc. The beach in Chiavari is not that great if you are looking for stunning blue water, but it was easy to travel to other beaches, such as Monterosso.

We have been to Chiavari many times because it combines so many things we enjoy. The sea of course, but also a wonderful evening passagiata, as well as absolutely divine restaurants. The town is compact, with good shopping, ample (paid) parking and delightful piazzas.
We visit Chiavari often but, until now, haven’t found the perfect place. 3 room guesthouse is wonderful and we will return. Yes it is next to the train but the beds were wonderful and we slept with no problem. There’s a kitchen, sitting rooms and balcony as well as the private bedroom and HUGE bathroom. the proprietress was so warm and helpful. Do take her advice on restaurants—all of her recommendations were great. and who could complain waking up to this ceiling?
Great family apartment with a homely feel. Well organised kitchen, great shower and an outdoors sitting/dining area which was lovely in the evenings.
Sara met us on site and showed us how everything worked, also kept in touch and quickly responded to queries.
From the apartment you are quickly in the centre of Chiavari and only a short walk to the sea and/or railway station.
I think it will make an excellent base for visits to Cinqueterre or Portofino.
This is one of the loveliest places we stayed on our two month trip. The room was beautiful and the bathroom! Bigger than some hotel rooms we’ve been to. Staff was gracious and helpful. Additionally, there was a notebook with suggested itineraries and restaurant recommendations. Location is perfect—very close to both passagiata and to the sea
Breakfast was great! Monica was very hospitable and helpful giving us great suggestions for restaurants etc. The B&B is near the train station but you don't hear the train. It's also close to the beach area as well as the main shopping center. There isn't a view for the balcony so we didn't really use it.
Hotel Ferrari was very nice. The staff were all very friendly. The breakfast had a wide variety of foods and was very large. The room was comfortable. The location was perfect very close to every thing in the main part of town. Overall the stay was very good.
The location is very good. The hotel is poorly furnished. No air conditioning which we knew but the fact that you need to have windows open and it is noisy up to 2 o'clock in the morning. Even the noise from corridors as the room has no isolation.
rooms were clean and very comfortable, staff very helpful, pool very clean and dinner, service and food excellent.
great location , this is not the first time I’ve stayed there and the hotel has improved significantly.
I’ll be back.
The best experience ever!! This is 10 stars apartment, an amazing staff, a perfect location, super clean, and i will visit this place every year..
Special thanks to Giorgio. He is so professional
Worth eveeery penny 👌
Have now stayed at this lovely BB 4 times. First return after covid - standards still very high (Very clean & comfortable rooms).
Chiavari is a beautiful coastal historic city will be back again next year hopefully
Friendly and lovely staff. Great location and food. One of the best breakfast buffets I’ve ever seen. Excellent in-room coffee, too!
The very hot spa on the balcony of our room was a perfect end to the evening.
Good-sized room in largish hotel on one of the main streets in the town centre, an easy walk from the sea-front. Clean, comfortable, good wifi. Good breakfast included in the price. Friendly reception.
Eva is a great host. She gave us the best recommendations to discover the Coast of Liguria.
The apartment is very stylish, elegant, greatly organized and extremly clean.
The hotel is a superbly renovated art deco building from the 1930s with great views.
Prime location in Chiavari which is one of my favourite places in Italy.
