You can’t beat the location, they have a wonderful view. The elevator worked sporadically. Climbing the stairs 5 floors with suitcases was unpleasant. When we went out to explore in the morning we got locked out and there was no one working the front desk to help us get back in. The rooms were clean and there was a nice breakfast.

This apartment is the perfect place to stay in Castelmezzano. It is in the middle of the incredibly scenic town with a window facing the town church/square. The apartment is clean, cozy and recently renovated. A few months ago they added an A/C to accommodate hot summer days. In addition, there’s a great breakfast in their nearby bar/restaurant.

Castelmezzano is just wonderful, it's location, setting and scenery are superb truly justified by its World Heritage Site status. Lovely small alleyways to meander along, houses perched atop a hillside incredible experience to have visited this beautiful place. Best time to avoid is at weekends when the place gets very busy and parking is a problem as the village imposes a traffic free zone.
For those really adventurous daredevils, they even have a 'Zipwire' experience with limited opening times?
Il Nostro Ristorante is the perfect place to end your day for dinner or if you prefer lunch, their kitchen is first class approaching 'Cordon Bleu' standard. Salvatore will make your visit there very worthwhile and you will not be disappointed. 😊

Stunning.
Stunning. Must be the most dramatically positioned town in Italy. The view alone is worth the visit, but there are lots of other activities such as the Zipline, hiking, and rock climbing for the more adventurously inclined.

A most amazing hilltop place - stunning scenery by day and almost fairy tale by night!
Slight problem in following the signs to find the Castel and in the end actually gave up! However, people incredibly friendly and welcoming.

We stopped off here on our way from Naples to Ostuni, and it was the perfect place to break the journey. The views across the valley are spectacular. We did go in search of the famous zip wire, but it is not well signposted so we couldn't find it - if we had had more time, we would have tracked it down and given it a go. We ate at a restaurant at a local Agritourismo, off the road to the town. We were two of only six diners in a huge dining room, but the food and wine were wonderful and the staff were very friendly, despite our reliance on Google Translate.

Castelmezzano is beautiful , very few tourists , slow country feel, very warm and interested people . It's only small so midweek not much open , lunch can be an issue here and in neighbouring village Pietrapertosa (do not follow google maps or car sat nav road linking villages , has been closed for 3 years , head back to E847 then next exit away from Potenza . we did , found one restaurant Piccolo Le Rocce but as we had to park at top of village and it was at bottom gave it a miss and instead went to Azienda Grotta dell'Eremita which was good and on way up to Castelmezzano . The food at La Locanda di Castromediano where we stayed was amazing , beautiful vews and great stay
The scenery is amazing and the rooms provided balconies with wonderful views. The rooms had unique and rustic decor and were well maintained and clean. Castelmezzano is a unique town built onto dolomite cliffs- lots of climbing on rocky steps to get to the rooms, but worth the views once you reach them. In May the town felt quiet and peaceful. Terrific choice of paths to hike. Breakfast included fruit, yogurt, fresh croissants, freshly made juice and sweet pastries.
Our stay at Sud e Magia was perfect. The location is right in the centre of Castelmezzano with private parking, the quality of the room is fantastic with everything working perfectly. The room has all the modern amenities while maintaining the charm and character of Castelmezzano. The host was very kind and attentive, answered all our questions quickly and helped with our requests. I highly recommend Sud e Magia to anyone visiting Castelmezzano.
A gem in the wonderful surrioundings of Basilicata mountains. Very close to Castelmezzano which is one of Italy's most beutiful borgo's list. Excellent breakfast with homemade jam and cakes. Convinient parking spot next to the property. New and clean furniture, very well equipped kitchen. And of course, attentive and hospitable hosts made our stay special and pleasant experience.
Great room in Castelmezzano with an even greater host, Teresa. There was a box of breakfast goodies (tarts, muffins, and cakes) waiting for us when we arrived the first evening, and the following day there was a bag of fruit and sandwiches. The bed was very comfortable, the shower fabulous, and having a washing machine was a real treat.
I loved everything about this little hotel! It was a quick stop for me on my way to Matera but this village is gorgeous and apartment was very easy with parking and walking into town. Although the restaurant wasn’t open, the owners were kind enough to offer to make me coffee or get me a drink when I checked in. No complaints from me.
The staff was wonderful and friendly. They accommodated all of our needs and even put a TV on the Terrace for dinner so we could watch the Euro Cup overlooking the wonderful views of Castelmezzano. The rooms have been remodeled and are brand new. The bathrooms are large and the beds are comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay.
First, I must give credit to Salvatore, manager and head waiter, for his professionalism, charm, and assistance. Breakfast was great!
The setting in Castelmezzano and room with a view are worth the trip. It is the one place in Italy away from the coast I like to return to regularly.
Located in the middle of the stunning beautiful village of Castelmezzano, the B&B is really nice and clean.
The wifi works properly, the beds are spacious and comfortable. The landlady, as well as her sons, are extremely courteous and kind. I will definitely come back.
Beautiful newly renovated small hotel. Spacious modern rooms, comfortable bed. Good location that allows arrival by car for baggage drop off and a near by parking area, which was very important to us since we were traveling with a 6 months old baby.
The room is beautiful, modern and very nicely designed. The bathroom was exeptional. Lovely to be in an old stone building while feeling modern and tidy within. Location was good - close to everything in central castelmezzano.
awesome view from the balcony and also from the sofa in the room next to balcony with french doors. as Castelmezzano is small it was close to everything (bar, shop, church, viewpoint
Castelmezzano is fantastic. The property is beautiful, with an outstanding view. The staff was really nice and they offered us a nice breakfast box. We totally recommend it!!
We enjoyed every minute of our stay at Helvetia B&B in Castelmezzano. Everything was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Michele was a perfect host. Highly recommended.
Quiet location in the country 2 km from Castelmezzano. The hosts provided wonderful home made cakes each morning and some home made jam which was a very nice touch.
Castelmezzano is a very nice small town. The appartment was nice. Not easy access if you have suitcases; but they helped carry up our luggage to the appartment.
