Stresa is a small town so everything is close and walking is easy to get back and forth. The view from the room was okay but we were on the second floor and had lots of issues with our room (see below) and the staff.

Walkable depending on where you stay. Many great restaurants. Beautiful views of the lake and plenty of educational snd interesting palaces yo tour!
We had 10 days in Stresa. 4 in a VRBO and 6 at a lovely hotel.
The Friday market interesting as well as our drive to Arche d Rocca in Arona. Took the train through the mountains of N Italy and S Switzerland from Domolossala to Locarno. Booked through a travel agency on the Main Street. After the train ride a boat back to Stresa. A fun day trip with the sunshine and nice people we met made it even better. Included was a coach from the train station to Domodosolla as the tracks from Stresa are under repair.
Central restaurant has a great food at a reasonable price. The owner was very welcoming both times we dined at their outside patio and inside - because it was raining.
The Michelin Star restaurant is overrated! Not hospitable! A small laminated card was included with the bill asking if one leaves a tip to do kindly do so in cash! Somehow I think this is only fine for the tourists and not the locals! Cold atmosphere snd know you will pay a cover seat charge for the “ pleasure” of dining in their restaurant.
One can walk to the marinas and the town is very easy to navigate.
We would recommend others to visit Stresa as a beautiful town on the gorgeous Lago Maggiore.

Stresa is a small beautiful village on the shores of Lake Maggiore, that takes you back to a time of stillness, palaces, and beautiful scenery. The Borromeo Islands are out of this world. It’s easy to walk around, the stroll by the lake is super nice. Our favorite restaurant was casa Rampolina up the hill, offering delicious local food and amazing lake views.

A nice town with some good restaurants if you take the time to look for them away from the standard tourist haunts. Stresa is well located for visiting other areas around Lake Maggiore, Lake Orta and Lake Como.

We loved Stresa - there was a lot to do there and in the area. We took ferries to St. Catherine Monestary and to Isola Bella which was incredible. We also took a day trip to Lake Orta and did a hike up the hills for beautiful views of the alps. You could defiantly stay longer - it is a great base camp for exploring the area, especially if you have a car. But be warned - roads are narrow and winding and the Italian drivers are crazy. Stresa had lovey shops and so many good restaurant choices - the hotel staff was great at making recommendations.

I like the location of the town, the vibrant character of the town with its bustling shops and terrific collection of restaurants including a handful that are Michelin-recommended (but not starred YET).
I like the size of the town- not too big, not too small, totally walkable and easy to learn your way around!
A most beautiful location, on the wester shore of Lake Maggiore with snow capped Italian and Swiss alps visible on the horizons above the lake in early to mid may, and best (ferry) access to the 3 nearby Borromean islands, two with their beautiful tourable Palace and Gardens (Isola Madre and Isola Bella) and one for its shops and eateries ( Isla Pescatori aka Superiore).
Restaurant prices are ridiculously affordable compared to Milan or Switzerland: a foodie heaven. Michelin-listed restaurants (not yet "starred to my knowledge) serve exceptional and genuine regional fare, my favorites were Al Vicoletto, Ristorante Pizzeria Pappagallo, Lo Stornello, and the one we didn't have a chance to reach but will next time is on the hills above Stresa with the views called La Rampolina.
If you are a wine lover or foodie, be sure to stop by the La Cambusa Wine shop for a free tasting and learn the owner's secret favorites!

Stresa is a beautiful town with lovely walks along the lake.
Stresa is a beautiful town with lovely walks along the lake. The apartment was comfortable and beautifully decorated and well equipped for our stay. The train was about a 10 minute walk and has easy access to Milan and also to Switzerland. It was very quiet when we went and perhaps will visit when busier as some thing were still closed such as two of the islands but it was early in the year before the season began. The lake and views are stunning and well worth a visit, nicer than stayin in Milan city centre.
My wife and I spent 10 days at Lago Maggiore at the La Sacca hotel. Breakfast was not included. However, continental bf was available for 5€, while full bf for 10€. Both ones are at reasonable price, I think. Hospitality of Manuela and Chiarra was fantastic. As well as the location of the hotel. Most of the rooms are with lake view and smaller or bigger balconies. La Sacca is within a 20 minutes walk from the centre of Stresa. It is only 4-5 minutes drive by car.
Very good value for the price
Breakfast was hearty and delicious with many selections. Loved that it was served earlier - perfect for those who wanted to do the Borromean islands at 9 am.
This hotel is in Carciano, about a 15 minute beautiful walk by the lake to Stresa. One can take the ferry to the Borromean islands from here, just a 4 minute walk from the hotel. The views in our 3rd floor room facing the lake were fantastic, especially when in its balcony.
Comfortable accommodation with million dollar views.
Beautiful hotel, perfectly located in Stresa! Our room was so quiet, comfortable and charming, and we loved having breakfast delivered to our room and eating out on the balcony with views of the lake. Great restaurants within just a couple of minutes walk of the hotel, and the boat dock to go to the islands was basically across the street. The staff was so helpful and welcoming. We only wish we could've stayed longer!
Breakfast was outstanding, the location close to the ferry to the Islands is great. The staff was very helpful and allowed us to freshen up and store our bags as we arrived early in the morning. We also left very early in the morning our last day and they accommodated our breakfast even before the hotel breakfast opened. It is about a 10 minute walk to the train station, and 15 mins to Stresa city center.
Excellent hotel, very clean and well maintained.
Beautiful views from the balcony and a bright, airy room.
The staff were exceptional- professional, polite, friendly and very helpful from reception staff to the cleaners.
Very good choice of food for breakfast and delicious food in the restaurant in the evening.
An excellent hotel in a good position for access to Stresa and to boat trips.
Superb small hotel, more like a 4 star than 3 star.
Daniela the manager and her husband are fantastic. Sara on the front desk was very helpful organising some bookings at local restaurants etc, very friendly. Beautiful views from the roof terrace.
We have stayed in a number of hotels in Stresa and the Sempoine is our favourite and we look forward to returning.
Absolutely wonderful place to stay. Right in the centre of Stresa with no noise either in the apartment or on the balcony. This place is very clean with plenty of space for two people, nice balcony, wonderful hosts (thank you Georgio and family) and most importantly it is great value compared to staying in a hotel.
We wanted to treat ourselves to a nice experience in Stresa and the Regina Palace Hotel delivered 110%. With it slightly over the top (but still cheerful) decoration, its generous breakfast selection, and its excellent outdoorpool and gardens, we had a ball. The staff were always happy to help.
Very nice view of Lake Maggiore and the Borromean Islands, hotel located on the heights of Stresa, accessible by car or on foot for good walkers, very clean and comfortable, quiet, beautiful terrace and garden overlooking the lake, good sweet savory breakfast, welcoming and accommodating staff
The Hotel is a true 5 star hotel. The location amazing, the pools wonderful, the price very reasonable for drinks, decor fantastic. true old charm, european 5 star hotel. Easy walk to center of town and beautiful, amazing lake view. Skip Lake Como.
Nice family-run hotel, not pretentious, but you have everything you need for a wonderful stay in the area, and nice and helpful staff as a bonus. It is very close to the main square of Stresa, but facing a quiet street, so no noise is coming in
Place was amazing, clean, modern and an excellent location. Best of all is the owner. He was warm and welcoming and very attentive. We had an amazing stay and hope to return again. Stresa is gorgeous.
This is a very nice hotel just in front of the lake. Wonderful position to visit Stresa and the surrounding (islands, Villa Pallavicino, etc). Very clean and with very nice staff ready to help you.
It is an elegant hotel and a very nice location. The service from we arrived to left the hotel was very good. Nice room with an excellent view. We loved to stay in Stresa.
Stunning views. Room was not huge but well appointed. The breakfast was the best offering I’ve ever had at a hotel. Go hungry because there are a million options!
The best … the owner and the staff are very personal ! second, the rooms are spacious and perfect for a long stay! and Stresa ! what a wonderful place…
