Fosano is a little village in Piedmont; there isn't much to do there but what is great is that it's very well connected to the wine areas (Barolo and Barbaresco) so then you can rent a car and travel around.
Its close to Alba / Bra and all the possible nearby locations such as Barolo and all the rest in Piedmont - great location to be outside of the towns but still close to all ( needs a car of course )
The on-off bus tour in Torino is excellent... but skip line B. Line A and C are fantastic. Line C is the royal palace grounds. I also recommend walking around. You will find so much! Pair this up with a Piedmont card and you'll be good to go! I got into so many museums and castles, it was fantastic.
Absolutely beautiful, world class city with fantastic food scene...wonderful restaurants, enotecas, and cafes with locally sourced, traditional Piedmont cuisine. Great shopping and cultural activities as well. Easy to get around on foot, by bike or public transportation. Wide flat streets make for good walking everywhere. Great art and architecture, parks, outdoor markets, and churches too. Especially liked the Egyptian museum, the church of San Lorenzo, Palazzo Madama, and strolling the many lovely piazzas. Don't miss Mulassano for coffee and tramezzini, as well as Bicerin and Cafe Torino for their historical elegance. Consorzio or Tre Galli both fabulous for dinner.
We visited primarily for the Salone del Gusto and stayed in the old town. Fun city and a great place to start out if you want to explore Piedmonte. Lots of history and some very good food
I ended up in Susa because it's where my great grandparents were from, so it was a bit of a genealogical pilgrimage (and nice to be in a city filled with Rivettis!). The fact that it turned out to be one of the most beautiful and interesting places I've seen in Italy (and I've been all over) was just plain lucky. Susa has seen lots of action over the years because of its strategic location in a valley passage through the Alps between Italy and France. Because of that, it has architectural and cultural treasures from many cultures and all periods, all the way back to Ancient Rome, the Middle Ages, the Savoy dynasty, etc. Beautiful scenery, beautiful ruins, beautiful churches, lots of delicious food, and I just loved the energy of this town: quiet but not boring. Side trips we took included one to Sacra di San Michele, the abbey built into the top of a mountain on which Umberto Eco is said to have based his abbey in The Name of The Rose. It is the symbol of Piedmont and one of my top 5 do not miss sights in all of Italy, We also visited the little town of Mattie (where my family is specifically from). Very fascinating and friendly little village up a winding mountain road. The people in this area are very happy to meet visitors from the United States (doesn't seem like they get many). These are the places you won't hear about when you're planning a vacation to Italy, so I feel like my family history handed me a real gift with these towns. Highly, highly recommend.
The historical centre is small, yet has a clear sight of Roman and Medieval times. There are a lot of churches in the area, all of which have distinctive styles and of course all are beautiful. The town's museum although small, yet has a unique collection of antiquities, excavated items from the town, showing the town history since neolithic period. The underground tour is also recommended for those who love history. On the other hand, Alba (as well as many other towns in Piedmonte) is famous for the wine. Also, it's the capital, the hometown of Nutella, so what do you expect?
Alba is a small town with great restaurants and an excellent base for touring Piedmont hill town so of Barola, La Morra, Trieso, Neive, etc. The town is very walkable with sidewalk cafes on the many squares
Great base for exploring Piedmonte. Just be ready for angst-creating crazy drivers, scooters, motorcycles, and don't rely on Garmin's Europe maps/directions.
A very clean lake city with many good restaurants. It is within an hour's ride of the Milan Airport and offers modern, deluxe hotels among Italy's antiquity. There are many outdoor restaurants within the "centro" piazzas. All are excellent and offer traditional Italian favorites as well as food typical of the lake and Piedmontese region There are boats that cruise the lake and are easily available to guests of the Stresa hotels.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Villa Durando. The villa is a historical mansion which was renovated with extreme care by its owner. The finishes and décor are very high quality, and the house is full of intriguing historic memorabilia. The room we chose was comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was a sweet and salty delight: homemade cakes and pastries, local hams and cheeses and good coffee. We highly recommend staying at Villa Durando for a short or more extended stay if you wish to explore the Piedmont (Cuneo or Alba) regions.
This is one of my all-time favorite B&B's! Centrally located in the Piedmont wine region, beautiful place, super nice proprietors. Danielle and Bruno speak perfect English and are really helpful with suggestions of wineries to visit, sites to see, and most importantly - restaurants! They set up our dinner reservations for us every night, and each restaurant was spectacular! The room was very comfortable, with a big private terrace and views of the countryside. Great breakfast, too!
At Villa Laura they perfectly know how to welcome you! Everything was perfect from A to Z! The bathroom is really big, the amenities with the pool area and the breakfast are just awesome and outstanding! 3 Piedmont famous chocolate, the Cunesi, are waiting for you on the table...and the breakfast! You must try Laura's pies!!! Delicious!! Clean, quiet, nice, spacious, delicious are just a few words to describe Villa Laura! Grazie a voi due! Veramente un bel posto !! Bravissimi !!
This accommodation is an apartment in the village of La Morra. The rooms are spotless and the kitchen is equipped with everything needed to prepare meals—the owner has even generously supplied coffee. Bonus—we were surprised to find a washing machine just at a time in our travels that we needed to do laundry. We were also pleased that off-street parking is available. It would be a cozy place for an extended stay as a base in the Piedmont region.
one of our best weekend with my wife and other couples. it sits in a central place in Piedmont and is very close to Alba and Barolo. the hotel is in the right size for us and the staff has been outstanding. taking care of all of our needs, requests and even the ones we didn't ask :-) we will definitely come back. it was the right blend of good food, great wines, outdoor activities and sightseeing
The ecolodges is really nice and cozy and located close to Alba, Barolo and many other beautiful villages. It’s a perfect vantage point for a few nights in Piedmont. What makes this place so great is Adrienne! She’s full of tips of things to do and she can arrange anything from fresh truffles to amazing home made bread and cakes. This was our second visit and we can’t wait to come back again!
We go to Italy every year. When we are in Piedmonte, we always stay here. It is extremely comfortable. The location is great with private parking. There is always an excellent breakfast with homemade pastries that are delicious. To top all of this off, the hosts Alberto and Daniella are beautiful people. We love the place.
The location of the property is great for exploring Asti and the Piedmont. Anna Maria and her husband could not been more accommodating. They provided fabulous sugestions for restaurants and places to visit. The breakfast was plentiful, varied and delicious. We wish we had stayed here longer.
The apartment was perfect and the owner was so kind to us. The location and view were incredible and free parking was not too far away. Well stocked kitchen, close to grocery stores and many restaurants. It was a great launching point to explore Piedmont. We can’t wait until our next stay.
The staff helped us make reservations and was very knowledgeable about surrounding locations. The breakfast was excellent and something we started always looking forward too! My room had a beautiful view with terrace looking out at Piedmont's countryside.
Loved Cascina GIULI . Our host family was wonderful. Could not have been nicer. Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was generous with many choices. Location is convenient for visiting all the Piedmontese region. Alba, Barolo, Barbaresco, Rossi, etc.
Lovely spot in the Piedmont countryside surrounded by vineyards. Very clean, comfortable beds and good shower. The hosts were extraordinary, they went out of their way to make us feel welcomed. Breakfasts were generous and delicious. Great value.
Staff is extra accommodating and friendly, room was spotless, great value and perfect location to explore Piedmont.
Excellent gem in the middle of Piedmont. Loved the surroundings, spa and the two fantastic restaurants on-site.
Nice location for touring the Piedmont area. Clean room with excellent material for doing a little cooking.
Beautiful agriturismo in Piedmont. Nice spa facilities. Great food and wine.
