Great location, quite, nice staff, comfortable bed
Located just across the lagoon from the Venetian islands, Mestre is the mainland part of Venice and has cheaper accommodations, with easy transport links to the historic center. However, the city has more than just cheap hotels going for it.
Host to several festivals throughout the year, huge Parco San Giuliano has fantastic views across the lagoon towards the Campanile and dome of St Mark’s Cathedral. Also worth a wander round is Forte Marghera, a former Austrian fortress on an island in the middle of star-shaped canals. One canal continues into the center of the city and is lined with restaurants and bars.
Pavement cafes can also be found in Piazza Ferretto, a triangular square with a 12th-century clock tower at one end and the Teatro Toniolo at the other. This popular spot for a passegiata also has a modern fountain and several boutiques. Also good for shopping in Mestre is the Le Barche center, a rather uninspiring building from the outside, but packed full of stores.
As for nightlife, Mestre has a number of clubs, including one at Tessera near to Venice Marco Polo Airport. Don’t fly out of there without having tried the little homemade cakes called "mignon".

Mestre is a small place, there’s no Uber app so you need to go with the public transport all the time. The locals don’t speak English, get a wifi connection at the center where is the train and bus station and search for bus number that will take you close to your hotel.
It’s a nice town as long you get used with the way in and out. You can arrive around 15 mins to Venice from the city center w/ bus number 2.

I stayed in Mestre as the base to travel to Venice. It was the best move. Avoid paying too much for the Venice hotels. Stay close to Mestre train station and you could be in Venice in 10 minutes. Enjoy the best of both worlds.

This is the second time I have stayed in Hotel Garibaldi, it maybe a small hotel but has a huge heart! Luigi and his colleagues are so kind and helpful and show interest in how you spend your time. The No.2 bus stops right outside to take you to the centre of Venice. Hotel Garibaldi is excellent quality for a a very reasonable price, breakfast will set you up for the day. I will be back again soon!!
Totally loved the location of the hotel! So close to Venice and Mestre, transportation and all the facilities a traveler may need ! The value for money was totally worth it! Rooms were perfectly clean, quiet at night, the breakfast was satisfying , Elena from the Reception really helpful and polite. The size of the bed was just perfect, big and really confortable.
I will totally visit it again in the future and I fully recommend it if someone wants to spend a logical amount of money if the wants to visit Venezia.
We stayed in Mestre because of the excessive hotel prices charged in Venice. It was very easy getting to and from Venice by using the regular tram service at a cost of €1.50 per journey. Breakfast was good despite there being a limited choice of food options available. Staff were very helpful and the rooms were very clean. We ate dinner at a family run restaurant next door to the hotel called ‘Ristorante Darsena’abd enjoyed an excellent meal. Would recommend to others as hotel doesn’t offer evening meals.
It is very close to Venice and the bus station is literally in front of the hotel. However it is not very easy to go to Mestre station. There are not so many lines going there and the schedule is not reliable. The room was very clean but super basic. Instead of instant coffee, you expect proper coffee or coffee machine in the room given it is a 4 star hotel. There is also no slippers or any toiletries in the room. Breakfast was good enough and the personnel was kind and helpful.
The host was very helpful and friendly! The location is great, close to a supermarket, and to the bus stop (to get to Venice). Also it's near the train station, so it's very convenient if you need to travel somewhere else in Italy. The heating system works well, the apartment was warm, despite the very cold weather outside (I stayed at Casa Milena in winter). Wifi works well! It's very easy to go to Venice from Casa Milena!
The room was spacious. Located just 150m to the bus station & Venice mestre train station. Many food options near by. Room was well lit. Bathroom had towels, big basin and heating . The room had balcony too. Tv was big but only italian channels. Wi-Fi is there for multiple devices. Storage cabinets for clothes. Extra bed / cot in the room. Overall a superb experience with the hotel.
This hotel is wonderful. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. The location is wonderful. The room had eveyething we needed; fridge, ac, big balcony, comfortable beds and bathroom. Breakfast was nice and customer service is really wonderful. Less than 5 min walk to mestre central station and the tram to venice.
I stayed in Italy for 10 days and tried 4 different hotels. This hotel was by far the absolute best in everything. Staff were great, rooms exceptionally good, very clean. The location could not be better. A 2 minuten walk to the Mestre Train station. It takes 10 minutes by train to get to Venice.
The room was extremely spacious for a hotel room based near Venice
The location was quite close to the Mestre train station - which was 10-15 minutes away from Venice
The hotel is situated close to several supermarkets and restaurants (including a McDonald's for those late night munchies!)
Nice breakfast area, reasonably spacious room. Very good location outside Venice, as the hotel is situated near the Mestre Central Station and you could reach Venice with the bus or tram in just 15 min. Parking available free of charge. Very nice and helpful woman at the front desk.
I had business & leisure trip so i need to be near mestre. Hotel is in acceptable distance to Venice 15-20minby bus.
There is good price/quality
Very helpfull staff for roads, schedules, etc
I could make also an early check-in
So generally the hotel was very good for its price
very close to the train station and very clean. A 10 minute train ride to Venezia San Lucia gets you to the majority of places you want to visit in Venice so it was not an issue. very comfortable and clean and the staff was professional so it felt safe for solo travelers. :)
Breakfast was good! They had a good selection of items, including American dishes which was nice after several weeks in Italy.
Another plus was how easy it was to take transportation to Venice Main attractions.
Location was great. Walking distance from Venezia Mestre rail station which was super convenient. Loved the vibe of a & o and would definitely recommend younger travelers book here if you take a trip to Venice.
The hotel is very close to the mestre train station, and the connection to the venice main islands is very good. The stuff working there is very friendly, responsive and helpful, I enjoyed my stay there.
The bus conection of the hotel with Piazzale Roma in Venice is very good (Bus lines 7E and 4L). Also, short walk to the center of Mestre or Mestre Railway Station.
Great location for visitors to Venice, a short walk from Venezia Mestre train station. Beautiful bedroom, lovely new furniture, big, comfortably designed bathroom.
