Hotel Palace Bologna Centro, hotel in Bologna

The highlight of Hotel Palace Bologna Centro is its location, in the heart of the historic center of Bologna, a 5-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore.

The hotel was right on the edge of the historic centre so ideal and only a 5 minute walk and lots of little nice cafe's 50 yards along the road. A good base for sightseeing and also shopping as nearby to good shops too. A decent sized coop is only 2 mins walk away to the right and there is a beautiful church nearby too, near to the coop, which is lovely to see, with painted ceilings and beautiful inside. Most things I needed I could find in the coop and it was like a normal supermarket, whereas the first day I had struggled to find somewhere to buy food and had to buy expensive items in little upmarket food places in the centre. The fruit and healthy items were really good value in the coop, so no wonder people can eat healthily there. You could buy lots of different kinds of fruit really cheaply. I was lent an adapter for my kettle from the hotel reception, which was good, as I wasn't sure where I could buy one from, normally the plug is ok, as it is a 2 pin, but the sockets in the hotel were quite old, so they were smaller than the usual size. ..I had a lovely view of the church tower nearby, so it was lovely to have the window open onto this view and sit and relax there. Bed linen was lovely, clean and fresh and bed remade with new linen every day, pleasant room maids. I had an issue with the tv not being tuned in, but that was resolved quickly and was all fixed by the time I returned to my room later on.

FAQs about hotels in Bologna

A Gourmet Delight

World-class cuisine is what Bologna does best. Nowhere in Italy, a country with considerable culinary heritage, is the food considered to be better than in this medieval gem.

Bolognese sauce of course originated here, but to try the real thing look for "ragú" on the menu. Cold meats and cheeses are also exquisite. Make sure you save plenty of time for eating – the Bolognese like to savor their food, so a meal can last for hours.

Many of the best eateries and homemade ice cream shops are found behind the mile upon mile of porticoed streets, now UNESCO World Heritage sites. The complex of medieval churches and buildings in cobbled Piazza Santo Stefano is a tranquil spot to explore. Climb one of the Two Towers nearby (not the one leaning at a startling angle) for spectacular views of this red-roof city.

The focal point of Bologna is huge Piazza Maggiore, whose Santo Petronio church has an unimpressive, half-finished façade that doesn’t prepare you for its sheer scale inside. Fanning out from this square, the buildings of Europe’s oldest university, founded in 1088, are home to the city’s best museums.

Bologna accommodations at Booking.com range from small B&Bs to luxury hotels, all easily accessible from Bologna Airport just outside the city.

It's a great idea to use the public transport - buses, it's cheap – you dont pay more than 6 euros for 24 hours and you buy the ticket in bus just with your visa card! Next time I'll try renting a bike because there are lots of people cycling and it doesn't seem too dangerous.

    Beautiful old buildings and churches.

Beautiful old buildings and churches. Lots of shopping opportunities and places to eat. The heat and humidity spoiled our stay as it made walking around exhausting. The worst experience was the queues at the airport. 3 separate queues totalling 2 hours! The Marconi Express was a disgrace. Totally overpriced at eur25.80 for 2 for a 7 minute journey. The monorail was too fast. There were only a few seats with the rest of the travellers jam packed and standing in the remaining small space. We were all being thrown around, hanging on for dear life. An awful, quite frightening experience. I'm sure Marconi would be disgusted at being linked to this awful service.

We lived in apartment 202 at via Milazzo, 12, on the fifth floor. It is close to the train station Bologna Centrale and 15-20 minutes walk from the main square of the old town - Piazza Maggiore. Keys must be picked up at the hotel Astoria itself, a few blocks away. The apartments are quite comfortable, the kitchen has everything you need: a small stove, refrigerator, microwave, kettle, a minimum set of dishes. The beds are located away from the kitchen. The bathroom is big. Bed linen and towels are excellent.

The Zanhotel Europa is a beautiful "old-world" hotel that is tucked in a quiet and safe neighborhood. The train station was a 10-15 min walk, which was great for us, as we traveled from Bologna to Venice and Pisa while we stayed at the hotel. The hotel breakfast buffet was exceptional! Definitely worth purchasing that option. The staff was friendly, courteous and helpful and seemed to appreciate our being there. Hotel was a short walk away from the main part of Bologna's shops and restaurants.

We loved UNAHOTELS, the staff was so kind and informative, room was spacious, clean, big comfy bed. Breakfast was great, as in all hotels we were in Italy, but the difference is that this hotel has an area with Bologna specialties. <3 Location is great if you carry big bags and luggage as it's right across the main station, and it's a 17 minute walk to the centre. But on the way to the centre there are many things and shops. Also, the breakfast outdoor seating area is lovely!

The hotel is centrally located, minutes walk from the historical center of Bologna. There are supermarkets and shops and restaurants right across the street. we had a studio apartment which was very spacious and had all the necessary, from an aesthetic perspective the decor was very basic, it was on the ground floor looking into a small courtyard so not a lot of light coming in. but otherwise very clean and practical.

Room and hotel were great. Location is a bit of a walk from the centre of Bologna at around 30 mins or so.
