We went to a local canteen-like-restaurant by the marina, where all the locals go. I had lasagne which turned out to be fish and prawn. I was surprised but it was gorgeous. They served it cold, but you can ask them to heat it up (we found out afterwards). We were staying in Vasto town but arrived by train and mistakenly got off 2 stops further along. There are several versions of Vasto.... but we were able to get a bus to the marina... eat.. and then we got the bus again to Vasto town as it was uphill, it was hot, and we had luggage.Guest review byAliUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We loved that it was vibrant and had the authentic Italian experience as compared to some of the larger cities which are more touristy. The food was fabulous, fresh and reasonably priced at the local restaurants! Weather was hot in September, our apartment was right in the centre absolutely beautiful. Beaches were a short distance away and lovely. The old or historic part of Vasto is beautiful. There was nothing tge hosts hadn't thought of - lots of water for the hot summer days, fresh fruit, coffee for tge coffee machine, a fully stocked bathroom, cleaning products.... it was like having your own home!
