Venice is fantastic!! The feel and vibe is upbeat. Do all the touristy things (they are all amazing). People say you only need 3 days to see and do Venice...not so. We spent 4 days there and still would have enjoyed a couple more to see the rest of Venice. You will walk, but it is not as bad as you may hear. My wife and I are 65 and not in the best of shape yet we had no issues with the cobblestones or stairs and bridges. Eat the Cacio e Pepi and see the Musica Veniziano (absolutely wonderful).

Visited Venice for the art biennale which is amazing, you need two full days for this. Try to walk to places and find hidden gems,don’t just head for St Mark’s square which is, of course, stunning, but busy!

A beautiful city. I went for the Biennale art exhibition and it was fantastic. I would definitely recommend it and I hope to go again. There's a lot to do in Venice and where I stayed in Dorsoduro felt safe. I loved being able to walk lots.

6-7 days seems about right to get to all the areas and see what you need to see. I would recommend avoiding school holidays. My recent visit was with a teacher friend at October half term Seems all of Europe had the same week off. Carnivale time is magical. My next visit may be in January when I am advised it is quieter. The main areas are now sadly crowded and full of walking tours following their guides, possibly off the cruise ships? So best visit the typically tourist sights early or late in the day. Wandering off into the residential and quieter areas is better than struggling through the selfie taking/influencer vlogger areas, although they can be amusing to watch.SheelaghUnited Kingdom - Scored 1010

Venice for my wife and me was about discovering the true charm of the City. It is a living museum and we found it best to explore on foot. You get to see where Venetians shop, where they live and work. The Peggy Guggenheim was a must see for us, make sure you book an entry time. A must see, if you are able, is to get up early and watch the sun rise over the lagoon. A special time

Venice is magical but clearly designed to be a tourist destination. Even travelling in early November, it seemed to be overrun with visitors. We did not manage to find exciting food at all, short of the gelato. The buildings and environment is however spectacular, if you are able to fully see it. It is beautiful and it is understandable why everyone wants to experience it, but for me, my visit many years ago was far more enjoyable.

Breakfast was fantastic. my stay was absolutely charming in a historical building A little bit expensive but Venice is an expensive one place to stay. Best place I have stayed in Italy. We could stay there for a long time!!

Convenient St Mark's Square as well as the waterfront with all the vaporettos but tucked away from the crowds.
