All reception staff very friendly, location and rooms
Located just across the lagoon from the Venetian islands, Mestre is the mainland part of Venice and has cheaper accommodations, with easy transport links to the historic center. However, the city has more than just cheap hotels going for it.
Host to several festivals throughout the year, huge Parco San Giuliano has fantastic views across the lagoon towards the Campanile and dome of St Mark’s Cathedral. Also worth a wander round is Forte Marghera, a former Austrian fortress on an island in the middle of star-shaped canals. One canal continues into the center of the city and is lined with restaurants and bars.
Pavement cafes can also be found in Piazza Ferretto, a triangular square with a 12th-century clock tower at one end and the Teatro Toniolo at the other. This popular spot for a passegiata also has a modern fountain and several boutiques. Also good for shopping in Mestre is the Le Barche center, a rather uninspiring building from the outside, but packed full of stores.
As for nightlife, Mestre has a number of clubs, including one at Tessera near to Venice Marco Polo Airport. Don’t fly out of there without having tried the little homemade cakes called "mignon".

Public transportation system totally intransparent, causes confusion.
City centre not easy to find.
Market in city centre at certain week days is huge and interesting, but hardly anywhere published.
New art museum M9 totally hidden in a second row position, weekly published way finders...
Mestre is not very confident, stays in the shadow of Venice...

Mestre is a small place, there’s no Uber app so you need to go with the public transport all the time. The locals don’t speak English, get a wifi connection at the center where is the train and bus station and search for bus number that will take you close to your hotel.
It’s a nice town as long you get used with the way in and out. You can arrive around 15 mins to Venice from the city center w/ bus number 2.

I stayed in Mestre as the base to travel to Venice.
I stayed in Mestre as the base to travel to Venice. It was the best move. Avoid paying too much for the Venice hotels. Stay close to Mestre train station and you could be in Venice in 10 minutes. Enjoy the best of both worlds.
The apartment is very spacious, with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room and kitchen, recently and tastefully renovated. The keys are picked up from the reception of the Venezia hotel, next to the accommodation, located at no. 5. The location is central, there are shops and the tram and bus station located nearby (T1 and 4L for going to Venice).
The bed mattresses are new and comfortable.
The kitchen is equipped with everything necessary for food preparation.
Probably taken in a warmer season, the accommodation can be perfect.
The hotel has a very convenient location right in front of the train station in Mestre, with easy access to Venice either by train or bus. There is a discount for hotel clients at the parking lot right next to it, with reserved spots very close to the entrance for those with heavy luggage. The staff was super nice all the time and we were overall really satisfied with the experience.
The room was spacious. Located just 150m to the bus station & Venice mestre train station. Many food options near by. Room was well lit. Bathroom had towels, big basin and heating . The room had balcony too. Tv was big but only italian channels. Wi-Fi is there for multiple devices. Storage cabinets for clothes. Extra bed / cot in the room. Overall a superb experience with the hotel.
We always stay at the Plaza when in Venice and always use the airport bus (to get there as bus station is just a 5 minute walk across the street) from the hotel., and next to the train station (and the train into central Venice) and the great small restaurant in the hotel. Breakfast on the 2nd floor was very nice as well.
We loved this hotel room! It was a very close walk to the train and bus station. We also loved the grocery store nearby. We have traveled to other parts of Italy during the trip, and realized that this was the best grocery store yet. The hotel was immensely comfortable and great way to relax outside of Venice.
We had a great time at Camping Venezia Village! The staff was great, speaking several languages and also our early check-out was no problem. The location itself is great, clean and has everything you need. A bus stop in front of the camping place brings you in around 10 minutes to Venice. Recommend staying there!
- Near bus stop to Venice city.
- surround by supermarket (Interspar), Mc Donald and shop. (good for find something to cook or eat)
- Location is not far from train station (Venezia Mestre).
- Process to pick up key is well organize (just tell estimate arrival time to Host, will has someone waiting for you).
Nice room with comfortable amenities. It is a 7 minutes or less walk towards the Venezia-Mestre Train Station. Has an excellent restaurant, Da Michele, less than 3 minutes away walking distance.
If you're traveling to Venice, Murano, and/or Burano for a couple of days, it's worth the stay.
The hotel was very nice. The location is great - close to the train station where you can catch a train to Venice and close to the centre of Mestre. The rooms were clean and spacious. A big plus is the availability of parking, but be aware that there is a charge of 8€ per day.
very close to the train station and very clean. A 10 minute train ride to Venezia San Lucia gets you to the majority of places you want to visit in Venice so it was not an issue. very comfortable and clean and the staff was professional so it felt safe for solo travelers. :)
The convenient location made it easy to explore Mestre and commute to Venice every day. The breakfast was enjoyable; it included a wide selection of items. It is an old hotel that shows its age. The rooms are small but clean and the staff was courteous.
Second time in Mestre and it did not disappoint. The hotel is modern, clean, and well-located within walking distance to the train station to get to Venice. The bed was comfortable and the staff was polite and welcoming. We certainly recommend it!
Location is great, only a few minutes to the Venice Mestre train station, so you can go to Venice by bus or train easily. Staff is very decent and helpful.
Bed is very comfortable and the room is clean.
A nice park is just in front of the hotel.
The hotel was very clean, staff was extremely polite and helpful, breakfast options were also good. The bus taking you to Venice island is direct after 4 mins walk or you can walk to Mestre city center in 10 mins. Quiet rooms
Very good location (about 5 min walk to Venezia Mestre where you can take train to Venice). Room is clean and staff is helpful and willing to answer your questions. Also, you can park your car in their place.
The hotel is very close to the mestre train station, and the connection to the venice main islands is very good. The stuff working there is very friendly, responsive and helpful, I enjoyed my stay there.
The bus conection of the hotel with Piazzale Roma in Venice is very good (Bus lines 7E and 4L). Also, short walk to the center of Mestre or Mestre Railway Station.
