Right on the shore of the scenic Kawaguchiko Lake, Hotel New Century features spacious Japanese-style rooms overlooking the lake and Mount Fuji.

We got the room with Mt Fuji and Lake view - which was amazing. The whole experience with authentic Japanese accommodation and dining was incredible. Yes, it is costly but worth the money. The staff were incredibly friendly and they provided a shuttle to and from the station, they can keep your bags at checkout and even deliver them to the station for our scheduled bus departure. You have access to the spring water baths (onsen) which are really comfortable. The food was laid out in traditional style - they accommodate vegetarians too.

We rented a car and drove from Tokyo to Yamanashi and for us it was perfect. We were able to see all 5 lakes in one day going from one to the other in succession. The restaurants in the area offer a great variety of sushi, izakaya and bbq. There is also a great Omakase restaurant nearby the hotel called Fresh Water that offers a different experience to the usual tried and tested. On the day of our departure back to Tokyo we decided to swing by Fuji Q Highland with low expectations - the theme park is legit with a great Naruto Village, high octane rollercoaster rides and from our own experience a great haunted house that lasts the majority of an hour to walk through. Loved it. Would definitely revist the entire area.

Check the weather forecast before planning your trip to Kawaguchiko, as beside the view of Mt Fuji there's very little to do there, also restaurants are very rare and working hours is almost not existent, everything closes early or not open at all... so be mindful of the meals you should carry with you.

The service by the hotel staff were excellent and couldn't expect more than what they provided from the greetings on arrival to our departure after our stay. The room was comfortable, bigger than most of ryokans we stayed in the past. The kaiseki dinner was exceptional. Every single dish was tasty and beautifully presented. Highly recommend booking a private onsen on your arrival (very popular) if you want to experience Japanese onsen! They also provide shuttle service from and to Kawaguchiko station.

Great value for a priceless experience. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Upon arrival we were welcomed with warmth and superb hospitality. The room gives you a nostalgic feel from a 90’s traditional Japanese interior. Not to mention, a magnificent view of Mt. This was one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at. I was picked up from Kawaguchiko Station promptly after arriving and driven right to the front door, they even carried my bags up to my room for me! The service was wonderful, the view from the room was wonderful, and the bath was wonderful. Although it is a public bath, I was the only one there both times I visited. The breakfast spread was also incredible!

Got the Ryokan (traditional Japanese room) The staff are extremely professional, polite and considerate. They offer luggage hold until you check into the hotel (3PM), and will also offer to drive you to Kawaguchiko Station when you check out. The public bath (onsen) was clean and very relaxing, didn't see much people when I went. Sometimes, got the whole onsen to myself (go around 12 am, no one is there)

This hotel is in a great location. This hotel is for travellers who are travelling on a very limited budget. The rooms are typical old Japanese, shared bathrooms, (male & females together) large rooms with futons on the floor, this hotel is in need of a renovation, it is very grubby,. Very limited English spoken. Located on a very busy road .Also great views of Mt Fuji from your bedrooms.
