The house is huge that can accommodate about 10 people and fitted with modern amenities even though it is already 150 years old. View from the house is fantastic.
Owner and staff are friendly and accommodating.
Owner enjoys a good sound system. He has a projector screen in the main house and another house where we had an indoor BBQ dinner. It is a DIY BBQ over heated volcanic rocks and charcoal. Spread of seafood and meat. Need to pay on top of room but recommended to try.
We also paid for breakfast for sandwiches, juice, yogurt and salad. Simple but convenient as no convenience stores nearby. Enough toilets around but only one bath. Recommend to reach early to enjoy being in the house if staying for just a night.
There is a washing machine with drying function. Free to use with laundry detergent provided. Can take 3-4 hours depending on your load.

We drove by the cottage the first time and stopped about 100 meters ahead. Then we were approached by some local people, one of which was the owners mother. They were super friendly and she guided us to the correct location. There was a nice big spot to park our car directly in front of the cottage. We had diner at the table outside and enjoyed the night sky. From here you have great views of mount Aso and also the surrounding edges of the caldera. Great experience and one of our best rural stays in Japan.
Thanks to the owner and his mother for their hospitality and kindness!

The owners were exceptionally lovely, I arrived when it was a bit dark, but she quickly responded to my message about my arrival and helped me get to the property.
Also their generosity and kindness were amazing despite me being a little lost in my Japanese understanding.
Stay was comfortable with a great view of the mountains greeting you as you woke up.
I would definitely recommend staying here, probably arriving a little before the sun sets as the small streets can be a little confusing if you take the wrong route.
