Colombo is a beautiful and clean city. During my visit in May, the weather was also good to walk around in the city with scattered showers. Hotels provide umbrellas free of cost to their guests.I climbed the Lotus tower and enjoyed the view, ticket was LKR 6000/-. Thanks to Booking.com who provided me taxi from and to Colombo airport from both hotels which were cheaper with good drivers. Tuk Tuk drivers are real cheaters and have no rules for transporting tourists. They demand too much money but later agree on less amount. Dutch Hospital market is expensive. Market near Colombo Fort railway station is reasonably priced still one must negotiate for better bargain. Colombo airport is nice and luggage collection arrangements are really appreciable.

The worst part of the hotel is the fact that we're made to wait at the check-in reception desk for full prepayment of the room rental and in local currency and offered the worst currency conversion rate in Colombo, worse than that at the airport. On checking in, we had to ask repeatedly for the toiletries. The keys started malfunctioning the very next day.
The best part is the location and cleanliness. The staff behaviour was not up to the mark but acceptable

Two days was plenty in Colombo to explore the city.
Two days was plenty in Colombo to explore the city. Use the pick me app to get value for money with the tuk tuks as they do try to over charge by a lot. Thoroughly recommend Pettah Market, just to experience the bustle and noise of a true, working market and for the street food. It is easy to walk around - and near to there, the Old Town Hall is a lovely building and the iconic mosque has two sides to view. The Lotus Tower is worth going up for extraordinary views of the city and don't miss out on the independence memorial! The Gangaramaya Temple is amazing and well worth stopping for, but the less visited Seema Malaja temple, just around the corner, jutting out onto the lake is very peaceful. Try Seed cafe or Milk and Honey cafe for great juices and coffee.

It helps if you know what you’re looking for definitely.
I came specifically for the Colombo-Ella train ride, the mountains and the local culture and food…
The train ride n the mountains was absolutely worth it. And the locals were sweet. However, I was quite disappointed by food. Everywhere you go, there’s fried rice! Fried rice plus this, fried rice plus eggs, fried rice and that… You had to particularly ask for Sri Lankan food or the local curry. I went to a somewhat upmarket restaurant in Ella, ordered a simple vegetable and meat curry. It came out fried rice topped with two fried eggs :(

Improvements - in the restaurant area, coffee and tea making...
Improvements - in the restaurant area, coffee and tea making facilities to be a bit more secure and spacious. To cater more for western tastes as opposed to locals - ie more cereals and yogurts. At time a bit too tight for numbers.
Pay more attention to health and safety around the tea/coffee area. Milk gets very hot, better signs to indicate this.
When floors are being mopped, to use wet floor sign so people are aware.
Honestly, everything was fine - the pool area is nice, checkin was fast and easy and the employees were nice - its just a bit too expensive for what was offered. The pictures are all accurate but it was somehow still less luxurious than we expected. We have liked other hotels in Sri Lanka which cost less a lot better.
We didnt book the breakfast and only stayed one night so I cant say much about the surroundings. There is a shop and few restaurants around, but I personally wouldnt stay in Colombo if you dont have to :)
Great location, great hotel and quite good service (just a bit unresponsive sometimes).
It’s located in the beachfront of Colombo very close to the city center and in a very convenient location.
Don’t expect to swim or even walk along the beach across the street though. The beach is just rocks and it’s on the other side of the train tracks.
The two available restaurants are quite decent and the rooftop bar is a nice place to wind down at the end of a long day exploring Colombo. The pool is small but has a nice view.
This was a tranquil place to arrive in Colombo. We were quickly out of the airport and into a peacful coutrtyard with bird song. We ate delicious home-cooked Sri Lankan breakfasts and were recommended some fantastic dinner options for the evening by our hosts, who were lovely people. They helped us with taxis, train times and more recommendations. We got to experience the bustle of Colombo but had this calm home to return to. This really feels like a special home and our room was a part of that experience.
We had opted for a sea view room. What we got was a corner room with a splendid view of the sea from two sides. The location was also a big plus and the hotel was a short tuktuk/cab ride from most of the places we wanted to go to in Colombo. There is a thin beach right across the road (50 steps or so) so you really don't have to travel far to meet the sea.
All common areas, rooms and washrooms were clean and the AC in the room worked as expected.
We booked panoramatic room for our last 2 days in Sri Lanka. Honestly, couldnt done better! Our room was sparkling clean, with jawdropping view from 21st floor. Never happened to me that we actually didnt even leave the hotel, because it was so nice up at the infinity pool with breathtaking views of Colombo. Also room servise is good, tasty snacks. Breakfast and dinners had huge selection of food, both sri lankan as well as international.
Beautiful boutique hotel, lovely spacious rooms, amazing bathroom and private terrace/garden. Beautifully decorated. The staff are the best!! Arun and the team even helped us out with returning a roomkey to a previous hotel. We had to leave for the airport on New Years Eve and they organized early dinner on our private terrace and waited for us to leave with the taxi before closing up for New Year celebration. Really amazing service
The hotel is great: easy to check-in, spacious and cozy rooms, huge beds, fantastic rooftop pool, nice rooftop bar, very friendly and helpful staff, tasty and affordable food. Located in the modern part of the city. The view from the rooms is great, facing all the fancy hotels and skyscrapers from the city. Extremely affordable for a 4 star hotel. Definitively would return if going to Colombo.
It’s a contemporary B&B property with 3 levels, and centrally located in Colombo city. There are food options easily available with Uber eats. The room was very clean and tastefully done with fresh towels and linen. It’s a quite peaceful location. Ms Sharma who us the caretaker at the B&B was very accommodating and prepared us the best Sri Lankan breakfast
A pleasant welcome from Upul and in the morning I received a delicious breakfast. The lobby features stylish and classic furniture. The hotel is within walking distance of a nice mall and it is quite easy to take the bus or tuktuk to the center. The owners are very friendly and gave me great tips for Colombo and the rest of Sri Lanka
The most friendly and professional staff in Colombo. New and very clean boutique hotel. Excellent size room and comfortable bed. Very safe. In a non-touristy part of town, and close to stores, shops, restaurants, etc. Rooftop pool is clean and refreshing. Nice on-site restaurant for meals. Would 100% stay there again.
This place is an oasis in Colombo. We just had one overnight after our arrival at Colombo airport. It’s about 45min from the airport (wo. traffic jam). The interieur and garden area of the boutique hotel is really nice. The staff was very friendly and supportive. The Sri Lankan breakfast is a recommendation.
The Beehive hotel was excellent for my last minute stay in Colombo. I received a nice room with AC and a balcony. The prices are very reasonable given how expensive other hotels are in this area. Highly recommend them if you are looking for a reasonable price hotel room in Colombo city center.
High class hotel by the sea front, with a spa, multiple restaurants and a really nice rooftop with swimming pool and bar. Ideal to spend 1 or 2 days to relax in Colombo before venturing further into Sri Lanka or taking a flight back at the Negombo airport.
everything was really good and I have really enjoy my holiday, continental breakfast is the best breakfast i ever had, Hope to see you again soon as, also don't hesitate recommended sri lanka cinnamons grand hotel to my friends and family.
The hotel is immaculate, no expense spared is truely a luxury property. Free mini bar was nice!! Also nice to see hand towels and face washer towel as well not seen in any other hotel in Sri Lanka. The pool is amazing and so are the views
Pool is fantastic, big and clean. Rooms are also good. Very comfortable hotel, friendly staff. Beautiful large yard with sea access. I was in Sri Lanka for 20 days, changed 8 hotels, this one is absolutely the best.
I think this is the best hostel in Colombo. Well located, modern infrastructures, AC. The manager and the people working there are really helpful. They can advise your on your route around Sri Lanka. Perfect !
The staff at Viveka Hotel Colombo was absolutely fantastic! From the warm greetings at the reception to the attentive housekeeping, their friendliness and professionalism made my stay memorable.
I was looking for a thrifty place to crash during my 2 nights stay in Colombo and it was a nice
Cozy and clean hotel and best value for the money I spent.
