I liked the size of the city - just right to walk anywhere, plenty of options to buy fresh fruit, fish and good local food. The bus stand was easy to be found. There were always tuk tuk drivers around for when you needed it, but sometimes they were too eager to give you a ride even if you didn't want to. The city always felt safe, even at night.. even for a solo traveling young woman. There was a great food booth near the bus stand selling the best shawarma ever! There were plenty of beautiful beaches around, but the sea was too stormy. Nearby in Kapuhenwalla is a good turtle conservation project, where you could go see turtles hatch and lay eggs. I am definitely coming back~

Tangalle is really nice but it is far better just 2/3 kilometres up the coast at Marocolyia beach and lagoon.Very peaceful and tranquil. This where Coconut Island cabanas is.There is also a small lake about 200 meters from the accommodation which is full with wading birds.Flamingos,Sacred and Glossy Ibis etc etc.

The cook and hotelmanager gave us some cooking tipps for traditional Sri Lankan Food. The Bungalow with a big balcony was clean and very cozy. Aircondition works very well. The pool area and beach had topped our stay in this accommodation. A small shop is 500m away and you can go with a tuktuk to turtlebeach, the Harbour and Tangalle City. It was our best stay on our whole journey here!

We also had a last dinner on a beach just with candles and stars. Beach is so big without anybody on it. The hotel is big , but you always feel like you are the only one there.
