Nice colonial city centre in the top of Chiapas mountains...
Nice colonial city centre in the top of Chiapas mountains with lots of options: nature, food, cultural and especially the coffee and chocolate.
Very nice place to chill and even spend a long time to enjoy the atmosphere, visit the surroundings and enjoying the nice weather.
I think this would be a great place to spend several weeks and work remotely.

This city has a lovely atmosphere and the people is friendly, the main plaza is awesome with many vendors offering their hand made clothes. It is amazing to lear how many days it takes to produce a single piece of clothing.. they truly work hard to earn their living.

San cris is such an amazing place.
San cris is such an amazing place. Not only the town but the surrounding areas too and especially the locals and local travellers were really kind and helpful. I met lots of lovely people, It felt really safe too but I just stayed within the touristy circuit.
I recommend doing all the tours, especially the one to Palenque ruins. It's a long one but totally worth it.
I should have stayed longer to do the jungle bit. Lots of people recommended me booking the tours once there but since I had just 6 days, I should have booked the whole circuit tour that takes you to the jungle for a few days.
The food was amazing. There wasn't enough times during the day to try everything and if you are a coffee lover, get lots of coffee too.

San Cristobal is a very easy place to stay for a week.
San Cristobal is a very easy place to stay for a week. It is a great base for trips and there is plenty to do in the town. Lots of food options. Past the main plaza there are streets that offer very good meal of the day options and whatever your food preference you can find it here. I particularly loved El Arcotete national park, you can get a collectivo here for Q15. Also the free textile musuem is worth a visit.

A beautiful but very large city located high up in the mountains (2200m) so be prepared for cool nights! Two long pedestrian streets lined with shops, bars, restaurants and market sellers as well as markets at either end. Great things to see and do in the environs of the city such as San Juan Chamula, Zinancantan, Caves of Rancho Nuevo, Canyon (closer to Tuxtla), etc. The amber museum in town was fascinating!

We had been told about a beautiful old small colonial town...
We had been told about a beautiful old small colonial town founded in 1528; it resulted to be the third city or town in the Chiapas state and definitely, larger that we thought.
However, the interesting area from a tourist perspective is the historic centre which is completely walkable.
You can walk the central boulevard from the Arco del Carmen (old city gate) all the way up to the Cathedral and visit a number of "templos" (old churches) each of one with an interesting history behind.
For the nature lovers, there is a number of tours from the town to beautiful spots.

Accommodation met expectations. The hotel has a great location right in the center. It is not a problem to walk to the center at any time of the day or evening. A safe place. The bank with the best exchange rate and many restaurants are also within 5 minutes. Parking is in the underground garage below the hotel. When we were there, it was not a problem to park, but if the hotel was full, there may be a lack of space.
It is very good that there are radiators in the room that will heat the room enough when it is cold.
The hotel is tucked into a quiet part of town but close to all the main tourist areas. Great for walking. Our room was very comfortable and clean...had everything we needed. The staff was exceptional! So friendly and accommodating...always ensuring the place was clean. We especially loved the communal kitchen. We had never stayed in a hotel before that offered that. We bought fruits for smoothies and cooked a few breakfasts in their beautiful kitchen. There was always a pot of coffee brewing...loved that!

The staff upgraded us to their best suite, which is a very lovely room with a great window in the kitchen with a lot of light and direct sun. The breakfast we had was a La Carte, and was very tasty. It is not a buffet, it is simple and the portions were not huge, but it was enough for us. I appreciated the freshly squeezed orange juice, instead of bottle or concentrated one we usually see in other hotels. We did not use the giant bathtub.
We really enjoyed our stay at Noma, the room was comfortable, clean and we loved the decor and the location was perfect. The breakfast was one of our favourite things about our stay, really delicious and probably the best we've had during our Mexico trip! Ivan and Gaby were also kind enough to make us a lunch for our onwards journey which had a super early start and helped us organise this, all added to our fantastic experience here.
Planet Hostel is absolutely amazing! Beautiful, colorful, super clean hostel in the central area of San Cristobal.
And the most important, 10 out of 10 points for the amazing Guy working at the hostel - Erik! Super nice and helpful, thanks to him we managed to organize amazing trips around Chiapas for a very good price. Erik is the best!! ❤
The hotel is in an excellent location for travelers. You can easily reach the main plaza after a 10 minute walk. Restaurants and bars are also a short walk away. The hotel is clean, provides purified drinking water for guests, and has such charming decor. The manager, Antonio, truly goes above and beyond to be helpful and welcoming.
They let us in before check-in time (we arrived very early after a night bus), this was extremely kind. Great hotel, awesome shower, good breakfast, nice bed, great wifi connection! Everything is very clean and the hotel is nicely decorated with local art pieces (that you can buy). Great value for the money you pay!
In a month travelling in Mexico this one has been x sure the best place I been... The decorations, the common kitchen, the terrace... Everything was just amazing... Dario the owner has been absolutely fantastic... Ask him whatever you wanna know and he will be more than happy to guide you...
Everything was great! Good location, the nights were quiet, the staff was friendly, comfortable bed… and every day a nice hot shower with a lot of pressure. This hotel was one of the best on my trip through Mexico. I will come again.
The room was immaculate and the location of the hotel is perfect- you’re literally a 5 minute walk away from everything in town. We also liked the cute little courtyard and common area, and the staff were great!
We were so surprised to arrive at this hotel and discover how beautiful and brand new it was! Such a lovely little boutique hotel find. Loved our room upstairs with windows facing hills and trees. Huge king bed.
Best private room I’ve had in Mexico. Clean, quiet, run by a super nice and helpful lady. I will definitely come back. An oasis of peace in a nice town. It was also nice to have a hot shower
Central location, very clean, helpful staff, heated swimming pool with pool towels included. Very comfortable beds. Really nothing to complain. Best stay in Mexico so far.
Directly next to city center, spacious rooms, bath and rain shower, well equipped communal kitchen, small rooftop terrace and friendly service. Best stay we had in Mexico
