We had a nice balcony that overlooked the main city and pool. It had a nice large bed.

Beautiful property, large rooms. Views of the ancient walls from our room. The courtyard was so peaceful to sit out in and sip a glass of wine. The hot tub was relaxing. It was convenient to see the 2 forts.
The SL Hotel Santa Luzia is sited in the building of the former Pousada de Elvas, which was inaugurated in 1942.

The staff is very friendly and the space is very clean. The breakfast is awesome. There were not many people, so we got to chill a bit in the pool. Is also very central, so you can go anywhere walking

The hotel is very well located in the town, it has excellent parking and great views out over the surrounding countryside.
I found the staff were very helpful in where to go & visit and provided annotated directions on a local map.
During my visit the restaurant wasn't open but there are plenty off options in the town

Off the beaten path, on the far East side of Portugal (nearly on the Spanish border). Friendly and interesting people, and interesting history to explore through castles, forts and a marvelous aqueduct.

Lots to see, so make sure you have comfortable clothing and shoes.
Like most Portugeus towns, it is very hilly with narrow streets and lots of steps.
Architecture is stunning and historic with plenty of stories of old.
More vegetarian/vegan restaurants would be a bonus.
The whole Alentejo region is a must-see when visiting this beautiful country.

Elvas is an historic old city with an amazing Roman aqueduct. The local restaurants were not catering for tourists and hardly anyone spoke English. We ate in the hotel which was good value in a lovely setting. We visited the British cemetery for the soldiers of the Peninsular War. The old town is is all cobblestone alleys and we kept getting lost but that was part of its charm.

This is a cool fort town on the Spanish border worth visiting. Great for practicing my Spanish and Portuguese. The old town is walkable and worth a day. Get a number of a local taxi service to explore the other two forts nearby, pick up groceries etc. Plan ahead of taking a comboio or autoexpresso as it's in a pretty remote location so you can't just catch a train out every 30 minutes like you can in Lisbon.
The region it is in, the Alentejo is also generally quite beautiful and it's worth taking a bus to Estremoz and the Evora if in the area.

A great small restaurant recommended by the Hotel was Mercato, is a perfect place to dine. Excellent service and food cooked to order with a lot of attention to quality and flavours.
The property is immaculate and, on the whole, beautifully maintained. It is the home of Marco and Susanne and could easily feature in a home design magazine. The roof terrace is really comfortable and great to be able to dip in and out of the plunge pool while enjoying and beer or glass of wine and the panoramic view across Portugal and Spain.
Everything in the house is perfectly finished from the upcycled furniture to the beautifully painted walls and ceilings.
Such an amazing place right in the heart of Elvas. This place is BIG and can accommodate many. Added plus, kitchen to cook meals. Highlight...the roof top balcony to view the city.
Oh, and, I loved the window seats!
The host was very friendly and we were gifted with a bolo cake and port wine 🍷
I would definitely suggest this place and if ever in Elvas again....I would rent here again.
Hello. My friend and I were in Portugal at the Elvas The Queen Residence hotel. We stayed there for 8 days. There we met the hotel employee Ricardo, who took the stress out of us after Spain, where no one speaks English. Ricardo advised us all the best and we want to wish you all the best. +351961939465. We wish you success. We respectfully share our excitement about Elvas.
The host was here to welcome us and took the time to give us advice about the city and the places to visit, the restaurants, etc. It was very nice to chat with him. The apartment is ideally situated in the center in a beautiful small street, and the view from the terrace is wonderful. There were even a few things in the kitchen for us to cook.
Hotel is an old estate house restored by the owners. Apart from the main building It has many little cute houses with apartments. The views and countryside around are beautiful. There are many walking options nearby. The owner is very helpful and informative. Breakfast was excellent. We stayed for a dinner, but we found it too rich.
Breakfast was great. Fresh orange juice, breads, pastries, hot eggs and bacon.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The gardens are gorgeous - faded elegance, a bit wild, and peaceful.
Our room was spacious, comfortable and well appointed.
A truly independent hotel, unique, with fascinating character and elegance.
What a GREAT place! Perfect location, super clean and Ricardo was wonderful! The Queen hasn’t been open too long, they spent 2 years remodeling a very old building, and it is beautiful! The rooms are huge and the bathrooms are fantastic! I only stayed one night, but I wish it could have been more. Highly recommend!
The hotel is in a prime location. The staff were friendly. The rooms were a great size and very clean. The bath was a jacuzzi style bath which we didn't realise until we got there so added bonus. Breakfast had a great selection. The veranda was a great place to chill out and soak up some much needed sun.
Quinta da Fortaleza is an amazing place managed by the owner who is dedicated to make you feel comfortable and welcomed. The house is beautifully renovated with good taste and first quality material. Breakfast is delicious hardly to match somewhere else.
A very green hotel. Solar powered heating and much of the electricity, too.
Very friendly hotel owners, great breakfast, absolutely gorgeous jogging around the house and neighboring fields.
The hotel Is well situated and there are a few choices for food. All food and breakfast is delicious. Rooms are generously sized and being pet friendly makes it a perfect hotel.
We loved the location, with swimming pools and wildlife nearby (a pig, sheep, dogs and a pony) but the terrible experience we've had with the staff overshadowed everything
The location and the surrounding nature.
The swimming pool in the hot days.
The night sky since the place is isolated and there is very little light polution.
A lovely traditional guest house just inside the walls of the incredible fortified city of Elvas. The room was very comfortable and I had all I needed!
