If you want to get away from it all for one or a few nights the Casa is a great location. Nestled in a small village (narrow roads!!!!!!), it overlooks the Douro valley. The host is a wonderful lady and we highly suggest you join the community dinner. Had some lovely home-cooked meal with a couple from Quebec. The staff are awesome, especially if you speak a bit of German. The grounds are ample with lots of plants.

The village of Mesao Frio was a long steep walk from our accommodation Imaginario d'El-Rei but was well worth it. We ate in the local family restaurant Atasca Do Zequinha which was run by a brother and sister. It was right at the top the hill and was almost like going into their own home. The food was excellent along with the local wines and you were made to feel part of the family. We enjoyed it so much that we returned again for our second night.

Mesao Frio is a small, quaint town in the Douro hills at the western end of Portuguese wine country. A small number of charming restaurants, nice people and vineyards abound. Great base for exploring the Upper Douro and Portugal's fantastic wine country.

Almost impossible to find - no sign, no house number.
Almost impossible to find - no sign, no house number. When I entered, I thought I was going into someone's living room. Didn't look like an inn/B&B. The owner was smoking and the entire place smelled awful. His daughter was ironing. Very odd. Had to walk up flight of stairs with luggage. Breakfast was minimal, we had to wait for bread delivery. Bathroom was tiny and shower was too.
We stayed in 10 different places this trip and this was the most expensive and the worst of all of them. Very disappointed.
We spent over 2 hours trying to find this place. A elderly woman selling cherries by the roadside was finally able to get us there. It was Sunday and by the time we found place, no place was open for dinner. Grade of F.
Every room has a fantastic view of the Douro River! The casa was a great base for us to explore the Douro region from. It is also a short walk from Mesão Frio, which has good options for cafes and dinner. Our host couldn’t have been nicer and went the extra mile to be sure we were comfortable, including having his English-speaking son on hand to make check-in easy. The daily breakfast was delicious!
The vineyard was located high on the hill near the village of Mesão Frio, with an open vista of the Douro Valley. The environment is tranquil and natural, surrounded by plantations and with a swimming pool to take dips in the hot summer weather. The owners/staff were fantastic, especially Senhor Carlos who was friendly, humble, and happy to help with anything.
This boutique hotel is a gem! Cristian, the Maria’s and the rest of the team exceeded our needs. Our 4 night stay one of the best we have ever had! The view is breathtaking. So much choice for breakfast and the presentation was impeccable. When visiting the Douro Valley this is a must stay.
Amazing place with a wonderful view. Located among spectacular hills and vineyards. Beautiful, well-kept hotel area. Great accommodation, airy, good equipped, stylish and cozy. The staff was very kind and hospitable. Delicious breakfast with fresh homemade pastry. Highly recommend.
Everything was lovely in this absolutely quite and confortable hotel located in a beautiful setting over the Douro river. Tastly decorated in a rural style, it offers what is needed for a few relaxing days. The small town of Mesao Frio at 1km offers restaurants and services.
The hotel is very well located and has an amazing view! The hosts are very friendly and also the breakfast was very delicious. We could use the pool and we enjoyed to sit on the terrace with a glass of wine with this incredible view. We can highly recommend this place!
Beautiful location with clean comfortable rooms and excellent staff. Our stay here was our favorite part of our trip to Portugal. Able to easily get to by car or train (REDE station close by) and town within 5 minute walking distance for essentials. Wonderful place!
this a beautiful hotel with spectacular views of the Douro valley and terraced vineyards😉the staff were very kind and the breakfast baskets were extremely generous with lots of options. a big plus was the pool that was great during the hot weather.
Carlos with staff are incredible and always helped us feel right at home. Beds are incredibly comfortable which is not always the case at hotels in Portugal. Pool was amazing. Also. 1,5 min by car to the café in town and restaurants.
Wonderful stay. This was our favourite place to stay during our three week trip in Portugal. We wish we were able to stay longer. Peaceful and stunning views. Kind staff and comfortable rooms. Great food and wine. Lovely.
Great location with a 360 view over Douro Valley (near Peso da Régua). Both Peso da Régua and Mesão Frio are 15 min away by car.
The rooms have a nice view and comfortable.
The breakfast is good and has good variety.
In over 45 years of International travel, this is the best hotel that we have ever stayed in!
