The ancient site of Assos, with the Athena Temple overlooking the sea and the extensive ruins of the Hellenistic/Roman city are well worth a visit. Assos itself, i.e. the fishing village, is lovely. A gorgeous, tiny place, perfect for a peaceful break from travelling and the busy sites. We ate well at a couple of the small restaurants right on the quay. We were there late in the season so it wasn't too crowded, a few people in the hotel pool and on the tiny beaches. Its location is beautiful even out of season (we were there in very late November). The weather and sea were beautiful. The food extremely good. The people wonderful. Our every need was met. The rooms are comfortable, the breakfast is good and the restaurant belonging to the hotel is also good.
