San Antonio in Texas is home to 2 of the state’s top attractions: The Alamo and the Riverwalk. One of the city’s former Spanish missions, the Alamo was the site of a deadly battle that cost folk hero Davy Crockett his life. The other remaining missions - Concepcion, San Jose, San Juan, and Espada with its aqueduct - are dotted around the city. The attractive Spanish Governor’s Palace also remains.
The San Antonio River runs right through the city, below street level. Known as the Riverwalk, its banks have been cleverly developed to house riverfront restaurants, bars and shops, and are spectacularly lit for Christmas. There are several San Antonio hotels by the Riverwalk which are also close to the Rivercenter Mall, the city’s biggest shopping center, while La Villita artisan village has more traditional crafts.
Across the road in Hemisfair is the Tower of the Americas, a tall observation tower with a revolving restaurant overlooking the Alamodome, a huge sports and convention venue, home to the annual Alamo Bowl collegiate football game. Booking.com has several San Antonio hotels near the Alamodome, and more accommodations near San Antonio Airport.
On the outskirts of the city are Sea World and Six Flags Fiesta Texas. The city also hosts the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, one of the country’s biggest Western events.

I found San Antonio to be a very clean city in the area that we were in which was near the Riverwalk. I felt safe in the area which was well lit. We toured the Louis Tussaud's Wax Works, Ripley's Believe It Or Not and the Illusion Lab which we enjoyed immensely! I would also recommend that visitors to San Antonio dine at the Magic Time Machine! The Magic Time Machine was very close driving distance from our hotel and it is a fun and friendly restaurant to visit!

since I have never been to Texas, I loved the airport when I arrive. it is not overwhelming like the NY airports. easy to get a car rental and the town has a lot to see and restaurants are just as nice. I went for my son's graduation from the Air Force. I would love to go back. We want to The Japanese Garden. it was beautiful and the zoo.

I was concerned at first that I would not be able navigate around the city but I was completely wrong…first night I walked to The Alamo, did the mission tour, ate at Pinkerton’s bbq..the locals are friendly and very hospitable..I enjoyed the river boat tour…I would avoid eating at The Riverwalk the food was not a great example Texmex food.

San Antonio is nice city, but place we stayed was horrible.
Never again will stay here.
The airBnB was absolutely at horrible location.
For the price we paid, it’s not at all worth it, fridge didn't work in 100 degree temprature.and owner didn't even inform us, NO DISHWASHER IN THE UNIT.
Don’t stay at this location.
We loved the location and the fact that it was right next to the Riverwalk. The hotel is situated so well that we could walk to most of the sights we wanted to see and also conveniently close to an array of restaurants, which we loved. The rooms where spacious enough that a family of 4 could stay comfortably. We only made use of the in room dining, however having breakfast in the beautiful restaurant was brilliant. We highly recommend the Westin to anyone wanting to visit San Antonio.
The house has a relaxing, romantic vibe. We loved being surrounded by pictures of famous actors, actresses, and musicians. And we loved the Italian villa feel of the whole place! Very close to the Riverwalk among other attractions. Anthony was beyond helpful with the whole process, as this was our first time staying at a home rather than a hotel. There is so much to see in San Antonio and we can't wait to go back!
Believe allll the reviews. I’ve been going to San Antonio for over 25 years and this is by far one of the friendliest, best loacation , enjoyable hotels I have stayed at. And all the free perks is just a bonus. Even the included breakfast was better than expected. Eggs, waffle maker cereal, biscuits and gravy, sausage, toast and bagel area. Very happy with our stay and will absolutely book again!
The hotel was a lovely historic building right on the Riverwalk. The staff were helpful and friendly. I chose an inside room and it was large, had high ceilings and the bed was comfortable. Total bonus…homemade breakfast and dinner provided for free and, both days and nights, they had different offerings. A really nice bonus after a long hot day out sightseeing. I would stay here again.
Fab location for visiting downtown San Antonio. Very close to The Alamo and to the river. Recommend walking along the river the The Pearl Brewery (about 1½ miles). The river walk is fabulous with some great bars an restaurants very close to the hotel.
Breakfast was great (except cereals, see below). Lovely mushroom & cheese omelette and plenty of bacon
Location was everything!!!
We booked something not on the riverwalk but also not too far away and we're very surprised at how amazing the location was. Right next to the shopping strip, quiet at night even with all the hustle and bustle. Literally a stones throw from the Alamo and less than a 5 minute walk to the riverwalk. Loved the hotel itself.
If you're looking for reasonably priced, high-caliber lodging in San Antonio, the Super 8 by Wyndham San Antonio Downtown NE is a fantastic option. The rooms are spotless and exceptionally comfortable, and the staff is cordial and eager to be of service. Many of the city's best sights are within easy walking distance of the hotel.
La Cascada was very close to the centre of San Antonio without being in the centre and paying a fortune for a room. It's on the river so you could walk along the river and then into the RiverWalk where all the restaurants, bars and shops are. It's all very easy. There was a grocery store nearby and the room itself was great.
I've rated this hotel at least three times. Last time!
Great, really great, staff. Great breakfast. Evening snacks--chili, chicken, nachos, etc--with adult beverages included! Excellent room. Extras! in a midrange hotel. Better than the Contessa on the riverwalk. I like it. I could live here.
Excellent stay on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, very nice hotel, a little dated in the bathroom, but otherwise clean. The bed was comfortable and the staff was excellent. Very friendly staff, they brought the extra pillows quickly when we requested them. We would stay here again.
Excellent location on a quieter part of the Riverwalk, so close to everything we wanted to do. The rooftop pool and hot tub would have been great if the weather had been better. Nice bar. Gym pretty good for a hotel one. Valet parking expensive but worked smoothly.
The room was a good size, very clean and comfortable. The hotel was conveniently located on the Riverwalk or we could get "downtown" quickly at street level. The front desk had a good choice of snacks and beverages in addition to a good variety of breakfast food.
The location of this hotel is excellent. Right by the riverwalk and easy to walk into central San Antonio. The hotel is also beautifully old-fashioned. The Ocho restaurant is also very good. Staff were pleasant and helpful.
This hotel was amazing! We were located right on the Riverwalk. Everywhere we wanted to go was within walking distance. Our room was clean. The hotel was nice. Breakfast was amazing.
This hotel sits right next to the Riverwalk and is located in the middle of downtown San Antonio. Everything from the Alamo, to the tower of the Americas are within walking distance.
Really nice location, directly on the Riverwalk and across the Aztec. The hotel looks new and has great design, room was spacious and has a wonderful bathroom!
