United StatesWhat a gem for travelers exploring Waimea Canyon and the Napali Coast without having to fork out resort prices. There's nothing fancy about little Waimea. The same is true with the West Inn. One travel guide we read described it as the closest thing to a Holiday Inn Express (compared to resorts down the coast toward Lihue). Fair enough. But it was totally comfortable, quiet and off-the-charts clean. Impressive. The owner was extremely helpful in accommodating our late check-in after a day on the water for a coastal tour, and provided tips on local restaurants. Our advice: Dinner at locally owned Wrangler's Steakhouse was outstanding, even if we only ordered simple burgers and beer. Helpful and knowledgeable staff. Top-quality food. Like the West Inn, strong management shows in the product at Wrangler's Steakhouse.

United StatesThe location! It is a short walk to a beautiful beach! We enjoyed nightly sunsets and it was easy to come and go from the beach. The property is also lovely to walk through! It’s also centrally located for other things we were doing. Plenty of dining options nearby. The condo was well equipped with all the beach gear and the towels were included daily for the beach. The condo has AC, which was nice for sleeping. When it didn’t work, maintenance came out immediately and fixed things! The owner is very responsive, communicates well and quickly and took care of everything! The rooms and baths were all comfortable and modern. Excellent hot water and water pressure in the showers and lots of pillows and blankets to choose from for comfortable sleeping!

Don't bother, so many more options available. If you want to see some original cottages, just drive by. Many locals stay there for parties with lots of people in one cottage - they receive nice discounts but do like to stay up late! I would not go to Hawaii to swim in a pool but saw many people use theirs. The beach was poor so no one was on it since you cannot swim. They could have supplied bikes - that would have been a bonus. The distance to everything except Waimea Canyon is far but if you are planning on hiking the canyon daily it is your second best option (the first being cabins 1/2 way up the mountain). You need a car since there is only one restaurant near by and the kitchen facilities are poor. Hiking was great - would have been nice to stay where we could rent a paddle board or surfboards / boogie boards. We booked the Waimea Inn for what we thought was the week of the Waimea Town Festival. Unfortunately, the dates were changed to the next week. Without the festival, the town has nothing to offer visitors. The beach is not swimmable and there are few shops or sites of interest in the town. Most of the restaurants close at 3:00pm so finding somewhere to eat for dinner is mostly impossible. We found ourselves buying groceries and using the Inn common microwave. I would never have booked a room in Waimea (and especially not the Waimea Inn) if I had known in advance how little Waimea has to offer.Guest review byStephanie - 8.0

Its far from restaurants, and swell is large, and due to canyon water is not snokleabble. But its enjoyable for swimmimg, surfing, walking, beach picnic, and its a good place for exploring Waimea canyon by hiking. Most trailheads are within short distance. Showers were outdated but clean and phenomenal water pressure. There were a lot of blankets and the kitchen was fully stocked (no oil).
